My dear sir I know this is Anuja Kamath but you may not understand what I mean to say I wanted to say that this lady is very talented whose singing is amazing and acting too.

I fully agree with Anuja that most scales are capable of bringing out all the different emotions. This is why I find it difficult to accept the logic of the Thaat system of classification. Bhatkhande devised this system in the early 1900s and picked 10 main scales and tried to associate all other raags with these 10 scales. He chose these 10 scales to represent different moods. Some 300 years prior to this, Carnatic music had developed the 72 raag Melakarta scheme, a classification system solely based of mathematical permutations and combinations and cold logic. Bhatkhande did study this but decided he wanted a classification system based on moods rather than cold logic. As Anuja has shown so vividly, a scale is capable of showing many different moods. More than the actual notes used, it is the way the notes are expressed that gives rise to the different emotions. This defeats the purpose of the Thaat system. Wish Bhatkhande had just adopted the 72 Melakarta scheme which is so much more comprehensive.
