Ektaal: Aapko bata doon, ektaal ke liye iss logic ka istemal nahi kiya jaa sakta. Ektaal ke naam par aur uske khand vibhajna par kai sawal uth sakte hain, jinke jawab mere pass filhal nahi hain. Shukriya 🌱
It is called ektaal because originally, this was counted with one thali (on 1st matra) and one khali (on 7th matra) i.e. 6|6 system with ek taali. Later, it evolved to 4|2|4|2 with taali on 1,5 and 11 and khali on 7. And now, it is counted as 2|2|2|2|2|2 with 4 taalis on 1,5,9,11 and two khalis on 3,7. If you observe, khali on 7 is in all 3 schemes, so the basic nature of this taal is still 6+6 with one taali, hence ek taal. :)
@@amitraohuman Wonderful! Would you be able to provide me any reference for the information particularly about the way it evolved to 4-2-4-2? Never heard about it before and want to learn more.. thank you🙏
Thanks Anuja ji for your prompt answer. Giving example of Chautaal and pointing out that the number teen and chau are referring to the number of khands of the taal starting with taali. Thanks to Dr Aneesh Pradhan also. This question was in my mind for long time. But I was promted to ask you after listening to your videos recently.
@@Sachintyagi003 "आड़ा चौताल" probably means something like crooked choutal...The word "आड़" means something like crooked/twisted as in "आड़ी तेढ़ी"...
@@Sachintyagi003 My opinion about Ada Chautaal: I have commented above about Ektaal theka and it’s folk origins. Ektaal draws its structure from Chautaal which is more defined in academic terms having structure Guru-Guru-Laghu-Laghu. Here, each Guru is 4 matras long and each Laghu is 2 matras long. (1 Taali & 1 Khali together here would constitute 1 Guru, while one Taali standalone would be 1 Laghu). To this, if you append another Laghu of 2 matras at the head, you get 14 matras Ada Chautaal structure (Laghu-Guru-Guru-Laghu-Laghu). In other words, Chautaal structure is contained wholly within the Ada Chautaal. This explains why the word “Chautaal” is present in “Ada Chautaal” name. Now let’s look at Ada Chautaal a bit more. Ada Chautaal has 14 matras in its cycle, an even number. That means naturally it should lend itself to division in two parts as 7+7. Then the 8th matra should begin a new Vibhag but as you can see, the structure interferes. The 8th matra syllable “Taa” does not align with either Taali or Khali - it lies between them! This lack of alignment (or crookedness?) I feel is alluded to with the word “Ada”. An interesting related tidbit is that if you rearrange the letters, you can locate the entire Ektaal Theka contained within it with an addition “Dhin Dhin”. I could be totally wrong on this, but I’ll be eager to correct myself and learn if you can discuss with your teachers and enlighten me with the feedback 🙏
Please start riyaz videos for beginners too so that we can learn it perfectly. Your all videos are so informative, I'm really thankful for all the knowledge n Art 🙏🙏🙏

Hello Anuja Ji, just like you explained beauty of Raag Bilaskhani Todi, can you make a video on Raag Pahadi , its my most favourite Raag and it takes me to heavens and so to other listeners its a request from my heart , stay blessed ❤
An added benefit of watching Anuja videos, besides her mastery in Indian classical music and teaching skills par excellence, is her enunciation of words, which is perfect if you are into music and want to get better at Hindi as well.
You're an amazing teacher. Blessings and Respect from Canada 🙏🍁✊🏽 Excellent explanation, however, I really miss your clear and easy to understand graphics - they've always been very helpful.

Anuja ji I am your big fan. I am basically from Kirana gharana. You are remarkable teacher. Your this video is also very good, I just want to suggest that if you would also use word " sum " or on the beat, it will be more easy to understand the rhythmic terms for the people who are from North India. Blessings and regards from Toronto. Noel.
Very interesting explanation and logical indeed. This is never taught to students generally. Then goung by that logical explanation why is EK Taal so called when it has 4 Taali????
Admirable simple explanation My request - please make introductory vdo about Synphoniya (symphony ) It is also a part of classic We have Shri Pyarelal Sharma ji Who wrote 2symphonies But Our people know very less about a symphony God bless you
I’ve always had a question, that whenever i listen to a raag sung by someone it sounds a certain way.and whenever sung by another singer,it sounds different.why does it happen?it is fair enough to say that i know nothing about Hindustani Classical music.

And by this logic how someone would define "aada chautal" ?
