Restoring My Phat PS2
I recently found my friends original phat PS2 in his basement while going through some junk and he said I could have it since it doesn't play God Of War specifically.
I mostly wanted the console for my collection and knew I'd not use it too often anyway so I snagged it and decided to clean out all the dust and make it look pretty before putting it on the shelf.
I'd like to mod it sometime, but for now, cleaning is enough.
This PlayStation 2 is model SCPH-50010

I recently received the Lego Creator's Retro Film Camera set as a gift and really liked it, so I wanted to make a video about it!
Dirted Planted Nano Experiment - 9 Months

It's been about 9 months since I set up this 5 gallon aquarium using all natural ingredients from a local lake, and its now been about 2 months since adding in the sparkling gourami. There hasn't been much change this time, though the gourami have grown quite a bit and I did remove a bunch of the plants before they completely took over the front of the tank.

My Adopted 45 Gallon Aquarium - Filmed on Old Fuji

I originally wasn't going to make any videos about this aquarium. However, after getting a new (old) Fujifilm bridge camera, I decided that this would make the perfect test for the video capabilities. Everything was found being given away for free from a previous neighbor on facebook. After 16 years, they decided they were no longer interested in keeping fish. Included was 2 neon tetra, a rainb...

This camera might be the best deal I've found yet! At just $10, this Fuji bridge camera feels solid and has a good macro and a huge zoom. While not the most premium camera and only sporting a tiny sensor, it still makes a pretty good all around camera for daily use.
Dirted Planted Nano Experiment - 7 Months - Finally Adding the New Fish!

I was given another free aquarium! This one is only about 5 gallon, or 20 litres, which I thought would be a good size to try a dirted, no filter tank for the first time. I didn’t have a plan for anything, and an overall goal was to use only collected materials and to not spend any money in making this. I found some sand and wood at a local beach, and soil that we just had lying around. Everyth...

i have this camera but it's not turning on. it's more than 15 years old. can i fix it at home?
I recommend checking for visible corrosion and look into a replacement battery, if thats not the issue then it could be due to aged electronics internally which probably wouldn't be an easy fix.
Hello, I live in Turkey and I want to buy a VHS camera but I don't know the vhs camera models, are there any models you would recommend? I am undecided between the vhs camera and the nintedo dsi camera. Do you think the nintedo dsi video camera is like vhs?
I don't personally have experience with using VHS cameras so I unfortunately can't recommend any. The DSi camera does have a fairly unique aged look, but it's still digital and will look different from analog tapes. I think VHS would be higher quality with more options, DSi is more just for fun.
1:55 backrooms sound
Bro how to acces photos clicked in it ?
On the camera there's a playback button, but to see on a computer If you don't have a memory card or card reader, you'll need the usb cable. There isn't much internal memory though so without a memory card photos won't actually be saved.
what batteries does this camera need?
It takes either 1 CR-V3 battery, or 2x AA batteries. I found cheap batteries wouldn't work for very long if at all though.
is this the same lens as Sun 400 mm f/ 5.6 ?
No as far as I know they're different with slightly different optical design, though I could be wrong.
Great video.
I've just found mine this month after abandoning it for 5 years , used it, good and beautiful pictures than what Samsung and iPhone produced for the same get-together party. Unfortunately, I couldn't transfer the pictures. Do you know? Please let me know.
With my PC I can use a usb cable to drag and drop photos, but usually I just use a card reader to transfer. I'm not sure if there would be any camera issue that would cause files to not transfer.
Hate to break it to you... but this was not a restore. It was a cleaning. And you should of took a brush to the whole top not just the logo. Also, you did not use IPA to clean. Just so much you could of done better.
Keep in mind just because things aren't recorded doesn't mean they aren't done, was just a fun video I enjoyed making, if you'd like a tutorial there's plenty more on other channels!
@@freeshrimp I wasn't saying it in a bad way. I was saying there was a lot more you could of done. Such as replace the caps, use some BW-100 on the main board. Clean the pins. The outside of the case should of been put into hot soapy water and let soak then washing with a soft Brisiel brush. I used to restore old consoles so was giving some advice. You did a good job.
Thank you! I do plan on doing all that eventually and lots of IPA cleaning was done off camera. For now it was just so it looked good in the collection, and full restoration will be done when it inevitably gets modded in the future!
@@freeshrimp Looking forward to the video then. Sorry if I came off rude.
can you share the link of where you found the xd photo card
and what converter you used to upload the images/videos
I apologize, I dont actually have a link. I was lucky and the camera was given to me with 2 of them. Luckily it also had the usb cable too so I just dragged the files off directly to my PC.
I have a quick question I have a ps2 fat model and the problem with it is even when plugged in and the switch in turned to on the red light doesn't come on at all it's like it's completely dead and I've tried other cords does anyone know if that's a simple fix or not because I'd love to play my old school games again any help/suggestions would be appreciated thank you.
A new cord could work, but the power supply in the console may be dead and need a replacement.
I second this, probably an issue on the power board
Looks a bit like sony mavica
I wish I could compare but my mavica is broken lol.
Great job. I have a 30001 phat ps2 and it has a split motherboard and thick solid aluminum heat sync. To replace the cmos battery, you have to desolder 4 pins to separate the 2 motherboards. Crazy. But it was fun.
Thanks! I find it neat how different the variations of one console can be on the inside. I didn't bother even changing the CMOS in this one yet since its mostly for display
Looks brand new 👍
To a crackhead maybe.
I got five of these little fish about a year ago and have never heard their sound. But I also rarely seen any of them either. I have them in a 20 long planted aquarium but not sure how many are now left as I only ever see but one at once and don't see any fish in the tank most of the time.
Even my little 5 gallon looks empty most of the time, they love spending most of their time in the dense vegetation in my experience so far!
phaatt ps2
Fun fact: There were several games on the DSi shop that featured using the camera as a main gimmick. Ones I have are Faceez, Foto Face, Rayman, and Face Pilot. Feel free to look em' up to see how they're used, they're super cool!
I believe I've played face pilot but forgot about it lol. Thanks for the great info!
Hey , I need help so I found this camera in my moms drawer and she got it once it came out so it’s pretty old . I used my friends charger to use it because I didn’t find the charger it originally came with , So I charged it and it turned on and took some photos , Once I checked that it’s fully charged I removed the charger and turned on the camera and it doesn’t work . I put the charger on once again and it worked I don’t know if it’s because of the battery because it’s really old but it doesn’t work only if I put it on the charger .
That sure sounds like a completely flat battery to me based on my experience with electronics repair. I use a generic phone charger with mine and it works fine, I'm sure a replacement battery would solve your issue!
Help me to decide. I want to start macro photography as a hobby. Fujifilm FinePix S8200 vs Smartphone with Macro lens attachment?
While the Fuji can focus super close, a phone with lens will get you more magnification in my experience. Most phones have macro modes built in that are just as good, the Fuji is better for other genres of photography in my opinion. Hope this helps!
@@freeshrimp With my phone's built-in macro mode I have to get within 3cm to focus on a subject. So this is not good when I wan to take pics of skittish insects. Can I use Fuji's 40x zoom to take macro photos of subjects from 30-40cm?
Fuji would be much better than a phone in that case. I did some quick measurements in macro mode to try and help, super macro mode is limited to 1x zoom and too close for insects. Closest I could focus at 40x zoom was 230cm away capturing 10cm across the frame. Around 5x zoom would give a decent working distance for most insects I think.
@@freeshrimp Thank you I'll give it a try. Can I use Screw-on filters on this camera? Is there a screwing part at the end of the lens? Maybe I can put a +10 close-up filter and maintain focusing while zooming more than 5x.
Unfortunately no, I thought that too, but there's no filter threads. I'm sure it'd work though if you used a bit of tape or something to keep it in place
I love watching your tank maintenance! This series is great
Just got recommended your channel by the algorithm and I am so happy! Love this video! Beautiful Gourami! Also really appreciate your choice of music and your calm, relaxed style! Such a cozy vibe!
Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoy the content!
That tank is freakin lush dude good job. And they are croaking because they are happy!
Thank you!
Why do you speak like a robot?
Because I am a robot still trying to learn how to properly sound like a convincing human
the water. is it yellow because of the light?or caused by the substrate?
Kinda both. I'm using a warm color LED bulbs which makes it more yellow, but the driftwood and almond leaf I added will leak tannins staining the water more too. It's not quite as yellow in person as it looks in the video.
Beautiful
Thank you!
I also had sparkling guramies for a clos to a year they all kinda died for no reason(i fed themon flakes) I think, that the foodwas't protin rich enought so I would recommend maby feeding ciclid flakes or other protin rich foods
Thanks for the tip! My little guys also get frozen foods like brine shrimp and mini blood worms to keep their diet varied throughout the week, and live baby brine shrimps when I can get them too.
I've had mine for 2 months but they are still transparent and dull.
If they are still really young, they should get more color with time given water parameters are good. They show more color in larger groups too. I'd suggest try feeding live baby brine shrimp if you haven't yet, mine absolutely love it!
I just got it for £10, I can't really complain despite it not being the sharpest haha! Great video!
Nice find! I can't compare sharpness with newer lenses yet, but I shoot mine stopped down to f8 most of the time and am actually still quite impressed with the sharpness of some of my bird photos, I even started using a vintage 2x teleconverter with mine, though that does also magnify the chromatic aberrations.
Sweet camera and great review! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks! Quite proud of how this one turned out even if not the most exciting camera haha
How do you remove the lens
Bridge cameras have built in super zoom lenses that can't be removed. Meant to be a bridge or stepping stone between small point and shoot cameras and larger interchangeable lens cameras. Hope this helps!
I still have my old dsi and all the photos I took on it! I sadly can't use the touch screen anymore due to an unfortunate repair mishap but I still have it in my room for when I do decide to get the right parts to fix it. When that happens I'm gonna take more photos with it (as well as use flipnote studio and mod it the system)
That's unfortunate it's broke, I've got my fair share of those projects too lol. I used to use flipnote so much on my dsi xl! So nostalgic haha
@@freeshrimp Flipnote DSI brought me so much joy back in the day. I cherish those memories. I still draw in Flipnote but with Flipnote Studio 3D and that’s been hella fun
Just ordered this lens, im looking forward to give it a shot! Thanks for the great video, keep up the great work!!!
Good luck! I still use this lens all the time and still surprised at some of the photos I get out of it being older and ~$100
@@freeshrimp I picked mine up for about 40€, hoping it works as advertised xD
Just picked one of these up from my mom so this was great to view. Thanks
Nice! Good luck with the photos!
I had this camera sitting in my drawer for ages, but just got myself an adapter to my vintage Minolta lenses and I’m so excited to give it a second shot!
Adapting lenses is still my main use for it, using Minolta mount 400mm with vintage teleconverters almost every day!
How do you send the video file to your cellphone and upload it to CZcams?
I used a PC with a card reader to transfer files from the SD card in the DS. You can get card readers that work with phones as well if you don't have a computer, but I'm not sure if there is any other way
Please, make a video about video mode.
I can work on that! Though I'm a bit slow haha. Any info in particular you'd like me to add?
@@freeshrimp I'd appreciate it. Is it possible to adjust the video mode somehow or it's automatic? There is little information on the web. Need a review from a professional.
You definitely NEED to get that clown loach some friends!
If I had the space for a large enough tank to house like 15+ clown loaches I totally would! Sadly I'll probably rehome him soon since I don't have space or money for a larger tank than this at this time
Great video. Thats a great find to get all of that for free, even if theres a little extra work setting it up again. Good on you for giving these fish a good home to live out their days in!
Definitely worth the effort!
Check if the food you got with it its not old and expired. Could be bad for fishy
Thanks for the tip! One of the first things I did. Luckily there was a new sealed bag of food too.
fish
fish.
Curious, i'm a fisherman as well as an aquariust and this lake looks mighty fishable! What is the name of the lake?
Its huge for fishing here, gaspereaux school through in the fall for spawning, ice fishing for the winter, and tons of other fish all summer. Its called Grand Lake, in NB Canada. Full of so much life, including massive leeches.
Cheers from my fish room channel in Chicago! I LOVE this small aquarium and how natural the scape looks. the story regarding the Honey Gouramis was fascinating and I love how you were able to just migrate some eggs over and ... voila! I've kept Sparkling gouramis with Pygmy Cory's before with no problems. bear in mind they will look very similar from a couple feet away and may even hang out with the gouramis to some extent.
can it zoom in and out while recording video?
I honestly didn't think to check that before, but no you can't. There is a digital zoom, but the optical zoom or focal length is locked while recording.
@@freeshrimp really!? lots of people have been telling me you can effectively zoom while recording
@@mike24kb I thought you could too, but I checked after reading your comment, there's 4x digital zoom, but the lens doesn't move.
so cute
The shrimp are gorgeous. And the video very professional and informative. I think bamboo shrimp are fascinating with their dandelion fluff hands and quite beautiful.
Thank you, I try to make my videos the best I can, they really are fascinating to watch!
Blanched sugar snap pea pods. They are all over them plus the pea pods make comfy "hammocks".
I don't know why I never thought to try those, I'll have to pick up some more now!
i just got four otos and they r very hyper😄 I got them for cleaners but they’re so personable that I actually really love them. They were skinny as a rail when I got them, but they’re already fattening up…in two days..like twice the thickness. They eat and then follow the Coryadoras everywhere. Would you be surprised to know I found my blue dwarf gourami eating hair type algae.. just munching away😀? Yours look great❤️
Congrats! New Otos can be really scrawny at first and be a problem, glad they're taking to food for you! Gouramis never cease to surprise me, small gouramis are great centrepiece fish and I love they're quirky personalities!
@@freeshrimp I lucked out with a friendly gourami. He likes the two female bettas in his tank and is a good boy with them😊 I do love the otos. They are more personable than I thought they’d be.
Mine like to go into the back from time to time, so there are weeks where it looks like I've got no otos, then other days all 7 school around. I've got honey Gourami in with mine currently, with a very protective father Gourami that doesn't bother otos at all
Goodamn thata beatiful
Maybe you you should move the frogs too. Oto eggs are very vulnerable.
If I was actually trying to breed I 100% would, but this is just my community tank and not an actual attempt to get baby otos. Surprisingly the frogs didn't seem to be much of an issue, however I know they'd definitely snack on a fry if given the chance.
@@freeshrimpmaybe they became more of a target when they were old enough to swim around more? There is also a chance of fry getting sucked into the filter. IDK, but I hope people breed them in captivity more soon.
Why do American's call it a "thrift store"
Not sure, it's like that all the way across Canada though. What're they called where you are?
