  • It's been about 9 months since I set up this 5 gallon aquarium using all natural ingredients from a local lake, and its now been about 2 months since adding in the sparkling gourami.
There hasn't been much change this time, though the gourami have grown quite a bit and I did remove a bunch of the plants before they completely took over the front of the tank.

I also had sparkling guramies for a clos to a year
they all kinda died for no reason(i fed themon flakes)
I think, that the foodwas't protin rich enought so I would recommend maby feeding ciclid flakes or other protin rich foods

Thanks for the tip! My little guys also get frozen foods like brine shrimp and mini blood worms to keep their diet varied throughout the week, and live baby brine shrimps when I can get them too.

I got five of these little fish about a year ago and have never heard their sound. But I also rarely seen any of them either. I have them in a 20 long planted aquarium but not sure how many are now left as I only ever see but one at once and don't see any fish in the tank most of the time.

Even my little 5 gallon looks empty most of the time, they love spending most of their time in the dense vegetation in my experience so far!

the water. is it yellow because of the light?or caused by the substrate?

Kinda both. I'm using a warm color LED bulbs which makes it more yellow, but the driftwood and almond leaf I added will leak tannins staining the water more too. It's not quite as yellow in person as it looks in the video.
