    Nice analysis. The thing that caught my eye was the question “Softest landings ever?” I can personally attest to Carly’s lightness from seeing her perform in person. I was lucky enough to be in the audience at the 2003 World Championships in Anaheim during the preliminaries. My father and I were in the 4th row on the side closest to the balance beam. On all her skills, you heard virtually no sound when her feet hit the beam. It’s a quality that is very unique to Carly and one of the reasons why many consider her to be one of the best beam workers. *Side note: we got to sit next to Daria Bijak’s family(2008 Olympian for Germany who also competed at University of Utah). It was so much fun to hear her father proudly screaming “Deutschland!” every time she competed on an event. 😄

    Another good video. Patterson started this run of AA champions for the US in WAG. US is at 5 and maybe soon could have 6 in a row. That's quite a run. I don't think the Soviets or anyone else matched that type of run for the AA. I'd forgotten how good she was on beam. Silver in Athens. For some reason her floor always sticks out in my memory, I guess because that was the last event for her in the AA. Good comparison shots and pointing out how a slight imbalance affects the subsequent move / skill. Romania really cleaned up at those Athens games. Same number of medals as the US in WAG, but 4 of 6 gold. US got team silver for both men and women, and had both AA champions. That's a pretty good showing.

    Great video especially cuz of how slept on Jordan is to make the Olympic team imo. She’s truly so clean and consistent on every event you can put her up anywhere. I think in terms of individual medals she has a shot on floor if she can beat flavia which I think would require difficulty upgrades and minimizing execution deductions on her leap series because flavia also seems to have a chuso (don’t search Paris 2022 FX EF) and better leaps than Jordan. I don’t think Jordan will get a cheng for the Olympics because of this 7:15 right here. Maybe I’ll eat my words but it looks to me like she would have to relearn this half on block completely because, like you said, she blocks the table really high in her handstand and also puts her hand on too close down the table. If she was gonna get a rudi into that block safely it would have to look more like Simone’s where she’s blocking way up to the end of the table. If she does get this cheng tho I think it locks her over jade

    • @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp
      @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp Před 6 dny

      Thanks for your insightful message. Yes, it would be a challenge for her to learn a chin. Also, Olympic trials are not a great place to be overly risky at as falls are big addictions among four events and can greatly affect you. Maybe if she had more time, or maybe if she’s really behind in the ranks and she can do it but inconsistently she might choose to do it, but I don’t think that will happen. She has definitely improved greatly recently and all athletes will be assumably at their best shape at trials.I could try to predict things but I would get many things wrong so I just speak about what I can see ha ha ha. It will be exciting though. Rock on and again thanks for the knowledgeable message.

      No they are not deductions as they are considered part of the (tap swing or preparation swing) to accomplish those type of skills. On those giant glide skills like a tipelt, all gymnasts will have excessive arch in their swing before it and some other gymnast may choose to to a big pike into their arch. • @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp
      @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp Před 6 dny

      Before the athlete vaults, they flash a number that tells the judge what vault the athlete is doing to do. Any deviation or characteristic that is different what what vault they flash that they are going to do can be a deduction. Khois vault is so fast and he twists all throughout the vault, it would be very difficult to see in real time what we see in the analyses but if a judge did notice it, they could take a deduction. It does not seem like they took any deduction for it in the competitions I watched. I wish I had a more clear answer but it is literally a judgment call and difficult to see in normal motion. Thanks for the questions and all my best.

    ur channel has the best analysis of pre-Olympics gymnastics than anywhere I’ve seen on youtube, or network television for that matter. you are a vastly skilled commentator, and ur bevy of experience, knowledge and passion for this sport is self-evident. please keep the videos coming!

    This is awesome. I hope to see much more detailed men's analysis like this, I think this is what is missing from television broadcasts for men, mostly because TV does not allow for it, in turn hindering new audience members' desire to continue to engage with the sport.

      All the athletes know, each other’s gymnastics inside out. It really depends who has the best day actually most the time. The judges know the athlete routines inside out as well. The goal is to push the limits of the athlete and still stay consistent. That’s the challenging competition. Anand all my best and thanks for your message.

    I wasn’t too impressed with Jordan at first but I feel like she has gotten better more quickly than anyone else. It seems like she got a lot more finesse in college. It’s still not all that pretty lol. Gymnastics has pretty much swung all the way over to the more athletic side. Figure skating followed. It’s still impressive, just not in the same way. IMO of course.

    I want Jordan on this team! She is so consistent and able to step in when needed. I still question Suni because of health. She hasn’t put in 4 great routines in a competition. And I pray that Shileses injury heals completely. USA needs her on the team.

    • @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp
      @OLYMPIANTEACHES-bh6gp Před 9 dny

      I think if they all have good competitions, they all have the potential to make the team. I think it will be very difficult for the selection committee to make choices. I would love for all of them to be on the team, but I also know there are only limited spots. I just want them all to have a great competition. They all have very strong histories already and do some great gymnastics. Rock Anand thanks for the message.

      Haha. I am now 54. Gymnastics sure has changed. I still remain a fan. Yes, Simone is like a super ninja rules. She has a normal conversation or a little bit off day. She will still win. Very rare to see someone that dominant in any sport. She’s the Michael Phelps gymnastics. So cool to see the new levels they take gymnastics. We’re all getting older ha ha ha so we do the best we can. Rock on my friend.
