The Story of the Aladdin Deck Enhancer
You weren't really "wrong" about it per-se, but the remaining Stadium Events cartridges were bought back by Nintendo when Bandai struck a deal with them over the Power Pad. It's why the game is so rare nowadays as it didn't receive a full release and is actually a "recalled" game. Gaming lists online often still list it as though it was normally released like any other game. We deep in the collecting community know this now, but the countless myths and misinformation posted on Wikipedia and other sites about it don't give the full story. They usually just quote Howard Phillips, but he honestly never was involved in that transaction at all(and I've literally spoken to him about it, lol.)
Amazing documentary, one of your best for sure - thank you!
I had a 32X, and for what its worth, i liked some of the games on it, and was blown away playing doom on a CRT lol
There was a super-rare variant of the NES top loader which used the Multi-Out AV connection instead of RF. VERY hard to find.
For the life of me i don't understand why some people complained that this game was too similar to the other Super Mario games. Are you kidding me? If it ain't broke, don't fix it. As Super Mario Maker has proven, you can endlessly play these games with different levels.
Three games captured my imagination and my heart when I was a kid, super Mario world, Zelda: a link to the past and this masterpiece Super Mario kart. Great video sir
OMG. What's the winning first move!!!! Ahhh, The pain, the horror!!
Oregon Trail gave me dysentery. Repeatedly. I am still recovering.
The raiders were hostile. Check for losses
Which business deal do you guys think is the worst? Mattel buying The Learning Company? Or Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard?
They seem like nice guys EXPECT FOR THE GUY GUY THAT DID THE RIVER CROSSING THING! That always messed me up so SCREW YOU!
This one, and the X-Band modem for Genesis, don't work anymore without the network services. But the Sega Saturn modem can still directly dial a phone number and be answered by another Saturn modem to connect for multiplayer.
If it had an MMC5, and some RAM, and maybe a ROM with voice samples & text characters, maybe a bass sample, then it would have made more sense. Maybe an enhanced audio chip, and it could have also come with a mod that plugs into the bottom NES expansion port to allow the expanded audio channels.
59:10 OMG that commercial!!! 😁
I find this documentary super touching. You know why? Because the intention of the creators is so sweet and genuine. "We just wanted kids to learn." I remember playing Oregon Trail at school and being so proud of making it to Oregon when everyone else failed. This was a quality documentary, great production value. I felt like I was watching a Ken Burns documentary. Nice job, definitely miss those days of innocence.
Love your videos.
I thought I was so clever by putting "Pepperoni and Cheese" as my epitaphs as a joke based off of the Tombstone Pizza commercials at the time in the early '90s. (What do you want on your Tombstone?) Many years later, I find out that the idea was so common that it became a freakin' meme!
Funny how Nintendo of America was trying to market the SNES as being for the more advanced player, when Super Mario World was a much easier game than any of the NES Mario titles.
I never liked the hunting minigame in the Apple II version. I much preferred the hunting in the Windows 95 version.
I can still remember when i first played this game in grade school, i was hooked instantly
You've become the best part of my commutes. Thanks for all the amazing work you do!
If Germans would win the WW2 they could make a similar game called "Lebensraum" with German settlers moving eastward through Poland and Ukraine.
Surprising how great this holds up, even 10 years later. All gaming historian videos, really, are timeless.
Can you please make a story about super mario bros 1🙏🙏🏻
please don't go.
Wonderful job! Much success to you in the future. 🍻
Been a big fan of yours for a long time and you’re second to none at these documentary’s. This was wonderful and I’m glad the creators of the game were spotlighted so nicely in this. Cheers sir from Newfoundland, Canada. I know you’re taking a break from doing these vids but I look forward to seeing more again someday as time frees up for you or life allows. Much success to you sir. 🍻

There’s isn’t going to be a human that doesn’t make a mistake. Every human makes mistakes is nature.
Norman, not only is this so well researched, but it also comes across with such a charming, nostalgic and comforting style. Love your video style. Respect.

This is the beauty of capitalism. Competition drives manufacturers to make products better and cheaper for the consumer.
