Thank you for this video!! I’m recently feeling burnt out and anxious about my job where I have to work in person, and I pretty quickly concluded I should find a new job that’s remote. However, after watching you point out the pros and cons from the POV of someone who has worked at home for years, I reevaluated and I’m thinking instead of jumping the gun to find a 100% remote job, I feel like what I’m really missing is variety in my days. So I’m going to start off my asking my boss if I could maybe take more assignments where I can do hybrid work or just get out of the office, and or look into hybrid work instead if I do decide to go for a new job. :)

I set my first goal for 2h a day (I normally go 5h a day!), but I have a problem: I need my phone for bank apps and using maps when I'm running errands outside, so I would like for the time I spend doing bank related stuff and trying not to get lost in outside (hahahah) not to be counted as screentime. Sadly, the native app on my phone that controls screentime does not have this feature :( Does anyone have app recommendations (for Android users) that can calculate the screentime only of specific apps? Thanksssssssss! (sorry if that's confusing, not my first language!)

07:40 couldn't agree more! As a freelance working mainly from home, I ended up filling my evenings and weekends with activities and classes instead of going to workspaces or agencies. Which might have been an unconscious coping mechanism from my body to make me feel like I am actually living something during my days. Otherwise, it gets quickly blend

I always go to one of the public university libary around my city. It`s kinda like a co-working space. Lots of people just focusing on their own work makes me sooooo much more productive myself. In 2 hours there I get as much done as in 2 days working from home. Also the university libary I go to here in Germany is free. You can just walk in.
Before Covid I was working from home for a year or so and as an introvert I didn’t like it, it felt so lonely. So I can definitely relate. I ended up changing jobs. That being said now I have 2 kids and so much busier, I think I would like working from home more again.

Your day 19 slump probably came from over training after working out everyday! This was obviously a challenge so stuff like that will happen but a normal exercise routine would have more rest days which will stop that extreme tiredness from happening! It’s probably that rather than a lack of motivation or laziness!

It really is so dependent on the person, their family, their health, and the work they are doing. I have been considering a coworking space as well, and the cost feels so big! But the lack of balance is really hard, especially when you are your own boss. Major kudos to you for being able to roll out of bed at 9 and get in the office chair. Some days I can, and other days I think time isn't real and I can do anything whenever I want so I should just sleep in, or play with the cat, or talk to my mom, etc. I have 2 kids and when they were younger and the big VID hit, there is no way I could have stayed in an office while they were schooling virtually and we were all in a mental health crisis. Now, even as an introvert, I miss my commute (no more audiobook/podcast time while driving) and I miss having a space that was outside of my control (which I didn't realize until I was typing that sentence...). Like - and office has one purpose - you go there to get work done. My home has 500 purposes. And yes, I totally relate to the snacking. I think you've convinced me! And yeah, no I do not want to be REQUIRED to go to an office. A coworking space is way more ideal than one building where everyone works in the same company. Sorry for the novel. I'm a new, huge fan.

Booked a trial day at a nearby coworking space in a couple days and gonna head to the library to work tomorrow. Been feeling incredibly low WFH with stretches of days where I never even leave the house and just work nonstop, so this was really inspiring! I sometimes dream of calling my boss and saying “I’ll be working from home today.” 😊 I work as a housekeeper at a psychiatric centre (public health care) here in Norway and I went to work every day during the pandemic, I think it really helped make that time a lot less strange and difficult. Don’t get me wrong, it was stressful and often emotionally (and physically!) draining but I really felt like it brought some sense of normalcy during that awful time.
Love your videos <3 Currently doing the screen time decrease program you recommended and enjoying my new alarm clock! For working from home, I also realized I had to get a change of scenery, so I've started working from the public library - which is great to be around all the books and people working/studying. I also like to work from my front porch or the local pool when it's nice outside to get some fresh air. Makes a big difference for me to be around what I've started calling "ambient people noises" haha

I'm definitely in the WFH camp. I don't dislike being in an office, but for my life, I spend far less time commuting and spending money on fuel when I can work from home 100% of the time. And collaboration with colleagues is the same either way. My assessment of the matter is, there should be the option of both, and if you're more productive doing one over the other, then that should be what is available to you. Thanks for this ride along, it was interesting to see and fun to watch!

I've been working full-time remote since covid, and 5 months ago I started a new remote job. Last month they announced that we're returning to the office 3 days a week starting June 1 and this is a huge problem for me. My wife and I have built our lives around WFH. If my employer isn't willing to be flexible with me they are about to lose me.
