Langmuir XR build Step 10. Water table assembly.
Step 10 of the Langmuir XR instructions is the water table assembly. The biggest complaint about this system is definitely the water table. As you’ll see in the video, I added an extra step to the instructions so aid in preventing leaks, and making sure it was square on the machine base.

Obviously some bolt will break because they become annealed from all of the heat cycle they go through. I tried to run our 07 hhr without the thermostat BUT the computer let me have it, sent a code.
@@ke6bnl that weird. I’ve never heard of anything like that. Kind of confused how a mechanical thermostat would effect the ECU.
@@Verticalpedalgarage the computer did not see the engine temp warm up and it turned off the temp readout on the digital gage and the mechanical gage and turned off the ac. I put a scan gage on and cleared the code and everything came back temp read out and the ac. I was going down hill to town and the temp never went up with the no load condition. BUT all I can say is the Blue devil is working great for the car so far. Thanks for the detailed video.

Well sir it is a crap shoot with used engines. I would surmise that when one sees all that gunk down in the oil pan one would be prepared for the worst. A lot of people would take this engine and go through the work to install it only to find out that the engine will have to come back out for major work. So we have a decision to make up front. If we are converting to an LS swap the work that has to be done for that conversion has to be done. If we also disassemble the engine to get an idea of what has to be done to make it reliable we will see just what is required to have that reliable engine. I see from some of the comments that some wrecking yards (excuse me recycling yards) will allow an engine to be returned if found to be unsatisfactory. Also as a repair shop I would not guarantee any used engine that comes from a wrecking yard anyway as I am not compensated for my time either in inspection or installation. I would tell customers that it is so much for inspection and so much for installation and if the engine has any problems then it is so much for R&R and inspection for the next used engine. I would do the same for radiators (back in the 70's). You bring me a used radiator and it is R&R for every used junk radiator you bring me. Of course if I see any item that is obviously unusable then I would advise the customer. The biggest problem here is as a repair shop I am interested in getting vehicles repaired and not having vehicles becoming naturalized citizens in my shop. But that is another show. The bottom line here is any used engine unless you know the engine or the person selling you the engine that is a crap shoot.
I appreciate your input and time. Thank you for watching!
I have a question, is the gas consumption really that bad with a 292 inline engine? The truth is I'm going to buy a truck similar to the one that appears in this video but it's not 4x4, it's a C30
I was getting around 8-10MPG. It was every bit as bad as my 454 in my other crewe cab.
Is it still holding up? How long did that last for you
It might have lasted six months. I didn’t use it for very long because I did an LS swap in the truck. It’s not a permanent fix by any means. It’s only good enough to get you out of a bad situation or get you by until you can afford or find the time to get the repair done right.
I experiencing the same problem coolant in the motor the only difference is that I noticed it before the oil changed original color texture will you recommend me that blue devil for my car
I can’t recommend it. It’s not a permanent fix. Like it says in the description, it’s good to get you by for a little while until you can make the proper permanent repair. Thanks for watching.
You still responding to a three year video? I’ll sub for that 👍👍
Hell yeah bro! I appreciate you. Thanks for the support.
Great video! Thank you.
Glad to help! Thanks for watching!
You didn’t need to modify the shaft?
Nope. It’s a little long so you need to burn out the adhesive, aside from that it’s a direct bolt in with the jeep hardware.
Speedy helpful breakdown. Thanks!
Glad to help brother. Thanks for watching.
3 year update?
No real update. It lasted about a year maybe 10,000 miles until I pulled the engine. My brother used it in his old dodge and it worked great for about 5,000 miles (if I remember correctly) then it let go. It’s not a permanent fix by any means. But it’s good to get you by for a short period of time while you save to have a mechanic fix the problem or to be able to have time to make the fix yourself at a convenient time.
I also want to thank you for this video. In my 2007 model, my belt was stuck in the fully retracted position. I bought the new part. When I took the new part out of the box, the belt would not extend. The instructions with the part warned to disconnect battery. As I installed the new part, I did have to reconnect the power and turn the ignition on for about 10 seconds before the system powered up the first time and let me pull out the belt. After that, it was very easy. The instructions also explain how to detonate the belt system to "safe" it. The dealership where I got the part warned me to bring them back the old part, so they could safely dispose of it. Thank you again.
Glad it helped! Thanks for watching!!
What are you using to pull ..
Just a cheap harbor freight cable come along.
I cannot thank you enough for your video. It took me 30 minutes and working great with new replacement!
Hell yeah. Glad to help! Thanks for watching, I appreciate you.
How do you get the new seat belt to extend to spec? It won’t pull out for me.
You must have something not hooked up. If the electrical connector isn’t hooked up or the door isn’t closed all the way that could prevent it from extending.
Perfecto 👍👍
Thanks for watching!
GUYS which is BEST to WORST liquid products? ¹). Blue devil. ²). K-Seal. ³). Bars. or ⁴). CRC.?.
I can’t answer that. The blue devil is the only one I’ve ever used. Maybe someone else will be able to.
1-25-24 eBay has them around 50 bucks. Why not drill a hole near end of bolt! Then put a Carter pin in it? Would help keep nut, from backing off with vibration! Just a thought!

Finding a steering shaft is like looking for hens teeth
I guess it depends on your location. I know you can still find them on eBay though.

But you're cutting out the rag joint which is like a rubber bushing. So I don't think I'm willing to lose road manners. Maybe it's best to just get a new GM shaft that has the joint, but isn't worn out.

Sound like it’s time to start looking at bushings and ball joints. This won’t fix all the slop, but what it will to is fix the slop in a good functional system. Good luck, thanks for watching!
Can you lube the old ratchet system??
I couldn’t figure out a way, it’s all sealed up to keep people from messing with it. I thought maybe I could just clean it, but I couldn’t find a viable way to get to it.
Don't trust the Fram oil filter. the Walmart brand is better.
Just ordered me one, can’t wait to see how much it helps, I’ve replaced everything in the suspension just the rag joint and steering box! 🤞🏻
Any Chevy I’ve owned it’s been the first thing I’ve done to the steering, and it’s always made a drastic difference for me. I’ve also been dealing with old garbage every time. But IMHO it’s definitely worth it. Thanks for watching!
Did you flush your engine of the water and milky oil before using blue devil or just put in fresh new oil and proceed?? I have new radiator so no need to flush it. My oil looks just as yours did. Was wondering if i need flush engine out after drain oil or just do new oil and filter and proceed with blue devil??? Your video gives me great confidence that it will work for me. Thank you.
I changed the oil before blue devil then after. The after oil probably didn’t even need to be done. They say it’s not necessary to change it before the treatment either. I did because rings could easily get damaged. So the way I see it, is with the multiple oil changes it’s going to at a minimum flush the water out of the oiling system. I’m not an expert by any means, I just wanted to pass on what worked for me, and hopefully others will find success as well.
Thanks for watching!
Is there a way to contact you for doing a product review?

I ran it about 5,000 miles in six months no issue. It never gave out on me I ended up pulling the engine for a planned LS swap.
@@Verticalpedalgarage fantastic!
U-joints weren't unknown in 1994. Why did GM use the rag joint? What problem did it address? It seems to be a very specialized part. It must have had some thought behind it.
It offers a softer feel. That’s my understanding anyway.
