Very good review, thank you! This is a viable option especially at the price point. I still don't understand why manufacturers of metal bed caps won't provide other color options? I can't imagine the inside temp (vent or no vent), when it is 100 + degrees outside. Neutral paint colors like silver, grey, taupe, or even tan would be great.
Yeah, Not real sure why no color choices either. All the metal one's I have seen have ALL been black! Yes, I am sure the inside temps get pretty high with sun beating on that black metal! Thanks for dropping by my friend! Blessings!
Great explanation! Thanks for doing this! Happy Adventures! ☮️☀️
@@54bonkers So glad it was helpful!
What kind of tape are you recommending we use for stoping the leak?
@@ryankucera6912 butyl tape. It comes with the cap. I just didn’t use enough.
@@TheRunawayGang Where did you purchase? Direct or reseller?
I couldn't justify paying 4 grand for for a hardshell for the other competitors, but this seems to be a good choice Affordable and does the same, too bad I just bought my wildtopper with a softshell, I'll sell my softop next year and save up for this
@@ohhailkingbobby1073 oh dang dude! Enjoy what ya have for a bit and hopefully you’ll have the opportunity to pick one up! By then they should be better stocked too! Appreciate you sharing! Blessings!
By the way, my tank meters on my Tab 400 were never accurate either, frustrating I know and I was never able to correct it now matter how I cleaned the tanks, tried everything. I'm totally convinced that those sensors across the RV industry just do not work, not a NuCamp issue.
@@willkelley735 Yes, I agree with you! We have owned a few different trailers with tank monitors over the years and NONE of them stayed accurate! Some started out sorta accurate then went downhill from there! Yes, I do believe it is just an industry issue across the board! Blessings! Enjoy that Rangerunner! Such a great family of folks! Be sure and check out some of the Rallies! You will meet some great people!
I like your videos, however, please use gloves when handling your blank tank and hose in the future especially if you are filming. Great information, thanks for putting this out there. Funny thing, I just sold my tab 400 and purchased a 2024 Range Runner!! Going just the opposite way, less is more for me this time around.
@@willkelley735 Hey there! Thanks so much for sharing your suggestion! You will really enjoy your Rangerunner! It makes for an ongoing fun project too! You can build it out exactly how ya want it! Blessings!

@@cre8iveworks You are most welcome! Glad it was helpful!
Very good information. Nice drawing Pam. Thanks for sharing guys! Good reference guide. We just did a 7 week on the road trip from the east coast to the west coast. Combined boondocking and hookups. 20 states and 18 National Parks with almost 9000 miles. We had a blast.
@@curronhill2744 OH man! That sounds so cool! It’s on our bucket list! Any recommended highlights? Parks we don’t wanna miss? Sites we don’t wanna miss? Thanks for sharing! Blessings!
@@TheRunawayGangTake your time and take a rest day once a week that you just sit around camp and enjoy just being rather than being out there. We did not have any reservations when we left and no agenda. My wife used RVParky to find and book reservations a day or two ahead. We did plan the major things we wanted to see for each state ahead of time but we chanced it up some along the way. We would also camp at one site in the middle of two or three places we wanted to visit. We ended up having about 9000 miles on the truck and about 7000 miles on the camper. This made it easier doing site seeing in crowded or high elevations sites like the Rockies. Be flexible and enjoy as you are there not worrying about tomorrow. We did have to evacuate a campground (leaving the camper) because of a 1 AM tornado. Make sure your cell phones are set for alerts. Also check road conditions a few hours before you plan to travel them in mountain roads. We did have to deal with one rock slide.
Good information!!
@@joniriggen7313 Glad ya got something out of it girl!
Awesome video!!
@@joniriggen7313 Thank you little sis!
Great info! Appreciated the electric/solar info and pics. Helped explain things. Do you leave your water pump and Alde on all the time or just as needed? Also what do you tow with?
Also do you only use Alde on propane?
@@KellyRussell-qb4sy Great questions! While we are boondocking and actively at our campsite we will keep the water pump on, but if we are leaving the campsite for any length of time we will turn it off. The Alde hot water is very quick at heating up so I typically will only turn it on right before doing any dishes and then off when done.
@@KellyRussell-qb4syAnother great question! When boondocking propane will be your only option for heat or hot water, but if we are plugged into power we would certainly utilize it to conserve our propane. Hope that makes sense! 😀
Is there a list somewhere that shows each runaway camper rallies? Just got ours

How is the wind noise? Any big changes?
Hey there! Thanks for dropping by! Haven’t noticed any additional wind noise at all with the truck cap addition!
Anyway to mount a 270 awning on this cap?
Hey there! It has rack rails integrated into the roof of it so I am sure you could!
Bad experience with this overland company, ordered my truck cap for gladiator and two months later still hasn't shipped, customer service has bood faced lied to me 3 times via email and 4 times via phone (and good luck getting them to anwser at all once you call with a complaint as they block your number after the first complaint). Lies about when it will ship, when they will receive shipments, when they have shipped and even sending (email) a bogus tracking number... I finally had to go the fraud route and cancel the order after 3 months of this (i respectfully waited 2 months before i started asking questions and being lied to) and had to mark it as fraud, so i had to get a new credit card as well, and according to M.C. this company has been included in many fraud charges, so i was far from the first. Dont waste time and money thinking you're saving time and money, cus you aint.
Wow! Man, I really hate you had such a bad experience with them! Mine have always been positive, albeit sometimes a bit slow, but positive none the less! Thanks for sharing your experience with other folks! Blessings!
American capitalism and ingenuity. $10k Camper $500 roof rack system $300 awning and held on with $3 dollar clamps lol... Nice job. gave me a bunch of ideas cause I was wondering how I was gonna attach to them. Thanks. Great Video.
Did the weight of the cap make your rear end sag? Did you reinforce your leaf springs?
Hey thanks for dropping by! Hadn’t noticed any noticeable sag, except for when towing, I did not reinforce leaf springs. Hope that answers your questions! Blessings!
@@TheRunawayGang thank you for the reply and your help!! This cap is on the top of my list for my next mod.
I appreciate the video. Looking at options for my ROG 12RK. Question - With the tent stowed for travel on the roof, do you think it would still be possible to load a canoe on top of it? Would it need some special made additional support to hold the weight of the canoe off the tent or could the tent support it? Thanks!
I think you probably could, just not sure how much pressure you could put on it as it will be resting on the ladder for the most part. Might have to get creative to make it work, but I think there is probably a way! Blessings!
@@TheRunawayGang Thanks for the reply!
I ordered mine early May and will receive it next week. Can't wait!
You will love it! Have 5 people on hand to place it!
Did you receive it? Hearing a lot of people not receiving their’s after 3 months.
@EdwinCastro-dv6us I would love to hear how ya like it! How easy to put together and place on your truck! How your delivery went! I am sure folks would love to hear your experience! Blessings!
I ordered my top like this on 4/29 and it said it was in stock when I ordered it then and as of today 6/9 it still hasn’t shipped and in fact when u go to their page right now it says in stock but that’s a lie!!! I think this company is up to no good they charged me as soon as I placed the order and still haven’t shipped!!! Please is anyone else having issues with this company because I’m not understanding what is going on with them I feel like they are scamming me. Please there has to be real people like me who haven’t gotten their product either. Please comment
I waited longer than they originally said I would have to as well. I believe these are manufactured for OVS in China and mine and evidently yours as well is on that “slow” boat! 😜😂😜😂
@@TheRunawayGang thank u for telling me I feel better now 👍
Mark, great informative video, does yours have rails on top to add a roof rack? Thanks!
Yes, the rack rails are there and they are going to be coming out with some crossbars specifically for this rig. I hope to snag some when they do come out!
Thanks for posting the follow up, I was looking into getting one for my gladiator and I just might pull the trigger on one now.
You are very welcome! Thanks for dropping by!

Love it. It’s so hippy
Ain't it though?! They did such a cool job with it!
It’s an interesting concept, but all those guylines turned me right off.
I hear ya brother! It’s definitely not gonna be for everyone! So far, we are really liking it although we didn’t change out the blank guy lines to bright green retro reflective! And added some nice metal guy line ties to replace the plastic ones that were on there…..
Very nice video
Glad you enjoyed it! We had such a nice little visit there!

It really truly is! The video just doesn't do it justice! We have been coming here for years and STILL LOVE it!😃
So informative Mark and Pam? With the small EZ Char. I will have to play again to get that yummy recipe. I can only cook with directions. You two did a great job!!
It’s a pretty handy little camping option! Just uses a small amount of charcoal and does a great job! Could be used at home if the power was out too! Glad you enjoyed it Debbie!
Thanks!! Great Job. Great editing.
Hey thanks Thomas! Appreciate you dropping by to check it out! First time I have ever had anyone compliment us on our video editing! Thanks for that! Blessings!
How is the water sealing? Any issues so far?
Had a slight issue at the point where the cap meets the truck on the drivers side. I didn’t put quite enough of the butyl tape they provide! Don’t be skimpy and you’ll be fine! Truck cap is awesome!
just curious... Harvest Host typically requires you to buy something from the vineyard/brewery/farm/whatever. How does that work, staying at a church? Did you they request you make an offetory contribution?
Yes, they just ask for a donation. Which could be done online via PayPal or via their lockbox located at the church and clearly marked for such! It was actually really nice there!
@@TheRunawayGang always wondered how that worked - looked like a great place! My mother-in-law grew up in Lenoir City.
Nice looking awning! Y’all did that quick. Thanks for sharing I hope it doesn’t get a hole in the tube. Did it have a patch kit?
Hey there! Thanks! We hope it doesn’t get a hole too! Been 3 days and still seems nice and tight and stable! Yes it does have a patch kit and a 2 year warranty!
❤❤❤
Hey Joni! ❤️❤️❤️
How much does it weigh?
Shipping weight was just under 250lbs. I am speculating around 215-230 lbs assembled. Obviously I didn't really have a way to actually weight it, but I think that is a pretty good guesstimate! Blessings!

Why you changed so many RV?
We are obviously not very good planners! Hahaha! Hopefully this one will stick! Thanks for dropping by and checking us goofballs out! Blessings!
Good video! Thanks for recording the video so we could come along with you.
Well thank you for coming along! So glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting about Meriweather. I missed seeing Pam cook some of her amazing meals. How is life different in the Tab vs Rog now that you’ve done a fun run ?😊
Yes, the whole Lewis deal is quite intriguing. Lots of theories, but no concrete evidence either way! The only cooking we did really was for the potluck. Pam cooked a pork butt in the instant pot since we had full hookups there! It was delicious! The T@B of course is bigger, heavier so a bit more of a challenge towing. Still well within the taco’s abilities. It is a very comfy camper, full of life’s conveniences in a very small package so it makes traveling and camping just a lot more comfy! We really like it! We will do a full review on it soon!
Fun times had by all. Thanks for the video
Yes! It was great!
does the window facing the cab have a slide to open it?
Super glad ya dropped by! No it does not open. Which is fine for me, but maybe not everyone.
I really like Renogy upgrade and also later add inverter. I have been looking at ROG both models.
Yeah the Renogy stuff seems to work well and work well together!
Wow! But weren't you just at the Persimmon Hill Rally? My son and I are watching this video, and he says, "I recognize those guys from the Runaway Rally." You helped me learn the ukulele, didn't you? You were there in your T@B? I wish I had seen it. :)
Yes! We are actually still here! And yes, we are here in our T@B! So glad we got to meet ya!
Hey guys, I completed my first camping trip in your ROG. Loved it. Quick question, I’m having an issue with the lithium batteries draining when not connected. Is there something I’m overlooking when shutting it down? I reached out to Renogy and they advised they need the original receipt for a warranty, or do you have the warranty code?
So glad you are enjoying the ROG! It’s a great trailer! There will always be some drain on the batteries when not in use and the battery shot off pulled out as the mppt controller and Bluetooth transmitter are always active as they are on the other side of the battery disconnect so that way you can always monitor the battery status. The only way to truly “turn the batteries off” is the use the little blue RJ45 plug with the button on the end and Power them both down which will completely shut off the batteries for storage.
Sent cesaro the email I had for the purchase. Hopefully he forwarded it to ya?! Didn’t have a warranty code. Not sure what that is.
So glad to see you back🎉 Beautiful grandson and so glad all is well. I love the new rig. We just got home from our first camping trip of the year…. I’m hoping it’s the last year of our RR, my wife needs a lot more room than the RangeRunner offers. We’ll see what happens
Hey dude! So glad to be back! Thanks so much my friend! We are so thankful for Daniel! Happy wife! Happy life! 😂😂😂
Glad for the way everything is working out, you guys! What a winter you had! We've cancelled our AK cruise for June over nuisance health stuff. It took a week to DIY plan last summer and 2 days to cancel everything! The refunded deposits are funding our "camping trip" to a Friday Harbor B&B. ;^) Glad you got to Holden Beach, too. We missed the Velvet Frog. Jack
Yes, glad I made it to Holden Beach as well! Although, a little late to the party! Pray your nuisance health stuff just goes away! We don’t like nuisance health stuff! Glad ya get to at least have a little fun with you little camping trip to the B and B! Blessings my friend!
