The biggest thing is the aspect ratio. I feel modern viewers are more bothered by 4:3 instead of 16:9 than the overall resolution. I imagine they have the original live action footage to fix that but the CGI files being lost means that any adjustment to the aspect ratio requires every CGI sequence to be rendered from scratch.

It shows how great the timing of the original animations were, that they look so realistic when smoothed, but it does seem to lose the lumbering scale of the originals.

Sorry. I know this will sound like sacrilege, but I've never seen a Ray Harryhausen movie in the theater, so I think all of his stuff should be stripped from these movies so that GOOD CGI can be inserted. RH was good for movies back in the day, but now it just looks silly. If good CGI were inserted, it would make these movies look more modern and more serious.

Final Frontier sounds like it would have been a fine addition to the Star Trek canon. Hell, its backstory and present story sound like they could have been really good live action series but an animated one would have been very very cool too. Sounds way better than Lower Decks or Prodigy anyway

Cool. I'd like the original more, but maybe if I'm trying to show it to my kid I'd go for the smoother version.

because of the jerking around and movements it looks more silly with smoothing. My brain expects more realistic changes but with stop motion this thought is gone, visually I dont expect it to be real and just enjoy it's originality

Legend of the Rangers went up against the infamous Tuck Rule game with a blizzard on the east coast that night. Thats not the reason why Legend of the Rangers had low ratings... It got low ratings because it sucked.

I love the smoother frames I think people will just never say it beats the original and that goes for every thing not just movies but it blinds you to the side that the smooth frame rates is a really awesome feature or advancement. The original will always be original but I like how the smoothness looks too

The original version was more intimading, while the smooth one looks more like cgi

Be more elaborate. Use AI to mask puppets, than make their framerate equal to live action. And then use new relighter filter with puppet mask to make lights matching each other. 4k 60fps do nothing good to the fipm.

I think the original looks better for all of these as it gives these creatures an unnatural, unearthly element.

A huge criticism I have of McCaffrey's work was the portrayal of the women, ie, Lessa started out as a strong character, but then begins to be treated like a child, ridiculed, in front of others by F'lar. This happens with almost all the tough women characters, and its pretty disgusting. However to be fair, the series started in the 70s, so it is simply showing it's age. I think a change of view on that point would be necessary to make a tv series/movie work. Comparing to Buffy and Xena I found interesting, as those women are super strong characters that I admired as a kid/teen. If Moore wanted the women to be portrayed traditionally like McCaffrey's work, it would have been a waste, and I think WB made the right decision, not Moore.

Watching stop motion has always made me uncomfortable. Even as a kid, watching the stop motion Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer movie gave me the creeps.

Just in general: (no offense to this content creator): Original is better. Just leave shit alone. Make something new instead. Be original. Don't be an eternal tweaker of other people's work. This George Lucasifcation of the past must stop.

Those gargoyles do look creepier flapping their wings in 8x smoother mode.

I grew up with this movie that was played every thanksgiving. When I was a kid this movie terrified me, I never had a thought about smoother stop motion. To be honest the original is better because of the atmosphere generated by the music, being b&w and they monster known as Kong. It was the darkness and dread brought to life by the screen writers. It's like the movie Wizard of Oz how it started out b&w and magically turn into color when Dorathy woke up in Oz. The nostalgia should always remain and there should never be changes because nobody can top the originals. They told a story and visually did what todays hollywood could not. No artifical computer generated nonsense, just pure imagination and hard work. It was said that in the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory that when Gene Wilder and the kids first entered the set to shoot the infamous candy garden, chocolate river and water fall they were completely blown away on how realistic the setup was. They actually used real props including making real chocolate milk. I say if it is not broke, don't fix it.

Additional frame interpolation and motion blur makes me sick. No thank you.
