0:41 I rewatched this movie a million times, yet I never realized that this ship is not the Goliath, but rather an unarmed version of the same model. Truly insane attention to detail for something we see so little of
love this shizz! I just saw _Nausicaa_ in the theatre for the first time in my life, and I think the further back you go in Miyazaki’s career, the cooler the ship designs get 👌
6:24 Perhaps this is a fantasy of the Type 92 heavy bomber. (九二式重爆撃機 キ20 Ki-20) This aircraft received license production permission from Germany and was used in small quantities in Japan.
For the historical airplanes, they were from a time when flying was very much a new frontier. People were still learning how airplanes worked. It was a time of bold innovation, of pushing the boundaries of what was possible.
I have to admit! Ghibli has some REALLY cool ideas when it comes to Aircrafts! I need to watch some of these films again sometime :D

As a huge fan of aircraft, this was always one of my favourite aspects of Ghibli films!
宮崎駿は昔から航空や飛行機械が好きでした。彼の芸術に本当に感謝しています。

The unknown Japanese bomber was a Junkers G38 which Mitsubishi built in license. They built 6 of them.

There were also some interesting aircraft in Miyazaki's "Future Boy Conan".
At 6:24 it's either a Tupolev TB-3 (Russian bomber) or as other commenters have mentioned the Mitsubishi Ki-20 (Japanese bomber).
For some of the movies, I wonder how thick the atmosphere is for the big things to be lifted with such impractical thruster tech.
1:58 is a Handley Page H.P.42 Airliner.
I want to become a Pilot
The necklace lol
You need to do the 1925 The lost world!
