@@MrRobot-bp8ev True, not sure if people have listented to his other soundtracks, but I follow him way back, and this soundtrack isn't even close to his previous works which by the way, are way better and more complex in terms of composition. He just said he prefered applying something more minimalistic for this movie, of course minimalistic music can be good as well, but in this case, his other albums are way better.

I realized it on the moment, when on every theme played - from "Ask me Why" to "Collapse", I teared up and cried with pure joy.
Every single piece of his work, especially in The Boy and the Heron, really deepens the perception of not just what you feel about the Miyazaki-sensei work, but of what you feel about your true self, that just took a deep breath full of live inside you.

It is truly a shame his nomination was overlooked, but I'm thankful the Academy put out this genuinely insightful look into the score! This is one of Hisaishi's most distinct and personal scores and it's deserving of so much praise.
The Academy doesn't control who gets nominated, it's up to the volume of preliminary votes. This might be the Academy's gesture of recognition for a person who they feel was equally deserving for a nomination. My guess - sometime in the future Joe Hisaishi may get his own honorary Oscar. They gave one to Ennio Morricone, I wouldn't be surprised to see this wonderful composer also get one.

I truly believe that this man is the greatest composer alive right now, and it is just so beautiful to see him work with a talented director just as talented as him. His music is so profound, beautiful and enchanting, and portrays the nature and the human nature of this world. It truly makes me devastated that Hisaishi didn’t get the Golden Globe award for best composer, and now he isn’t even nominated for the Oscar award!! This is ridiculous… because this man should have gotten it a decade ago. ❤ 🥇

Just saw the film the other day! It was my first ghibli film in cinemas and first trip to the theaters since the pandemic. It was such an experience!

I wasn’t able to watch the other films nominated in the same category but from what I saw, I believe that this film definitely deserves the Oscar, it has depth and meaning to its story and is a work that is made from genuine hard work since it’s mostly hand drawn on paper.

Watching this video, I realized he doesn’t really care about prizes. He is absolutely enjoying the process of creating his original music, he knows how. I thought he is genius when he talks about his music should not be the explanation of each scenes, His music should give us imaginations, so he makes music to keeps a little distance from scenes to not sounds like the sound affects.

I just arrived from the Theater a couple of hours ago…. Just… thinking.
The score in this film belongs to another world. How it blends with the silence of the film. It just…. Makes me think.
This music makes me think of the Sea. The Shores.
I’ll take the obvious out of the way and say this: This movie deserved to run for much More than a single poor nomination. I could feel every background, the opening sequences, the voice acting, the character designs, the beautiful story …. The photography direction, Sound edition and effects were so taken care of…. And the cinematography. I could feel it all and it overwhelmed me time and time again. To be honest, I’m still taking it all in. I felt as if…. This director took his audience very seriously. So many years of hard work, so much talent poured into this.
Thank god the album is on streaming services. I’ll be buying it no doubt. Along with the Book the film is based on.
This is the second work I listen from Hisaishi after Ni No Kuni (2011). I’m blown away. What an experience.

It is in reference to Isao Takahata's greatest, earliest inspiration. An old, french surrealist animated film called, "The King and The Mocking bird". Isao Takahata is co-founder of Ghibli and is quoted as saying, "if it weren't for that film, I would have never imagined entering the animation industry." Isao Takahata died halfway through the production of The Boy and The Heron and is represented by the Great Uncle in the movie.

Nice to hear a different view to how music compliments the movie, but he doesn’t want the music to tell you how you should feel. Also it is reassuring to hear that great artists don’t always know what to do but they just work hard until they make something they like.

I'll be honest Spider-Verse film is cringe and plot and everything is plain and obvious which is not something new except visual aspective. Boy and the Heron deserves an Oscar and deep of storytelling is uncomparable to that spider film.

Tem uma cena de briga entre Mahito e outros meninos em uma colina, e mesmo com eles se esmurrando a música não mudava o seu tom e eu genuinamente esperava que a trilha se tornasse mais sombria ou energética, mas me surpreendi quando se manteve intacta.
The piano sounds beautiful and the violin seems elegantly adventurous. 4:45 this animation of the crane was so incredibly fluid and 4:49 these ladies reminded of *_Princess Mononoke!_* 5:25 this whole scene reminds of beloved *_The Secret World of Arrietty!_* I need to watch *The Boy and the Heron* soon in English! 3:00pm 13.3.2024
