      From what I have read, he is "Actor plus" meaning he is aware of society's issues and tries to help. His fame gives him a platform to draw attention to ills of society.. Blessings.

      Jason Statham was going to get Tommy Shelby role as he looked the part and had done so many gangsters. But then Cillian said “But I’m an actor” meaning I am capable of becoming Tommy, just watch me.

    Cillian Murphy is a rare diamond. He is handsome, mysterious, intelligent, and an introvert. It's awesome to see someone who doesn't like social media. I hope he wins his Oscar.

      I think that’s the divide between an actor and movie star. It’s the absolute disintegration of your anonymity and individuals either love and embrace the recognition, or they retreat and despise it. Tom cruise is the perfect example of fully being transformed by movie stardom, where Paul Newman never cared for it.

      @@b-dub6865you should stop what you’re doing right now, and pick up where you left off. The series is unbelievably good. One of the best shows ever made. Do yourself a favor and watch it. Of course it’s going to have slow parts, the show can’t be action for an hour straight, but try to immerse yourself into the time period. I promise you you’ll be glad you watched it.

      @@b-dub6865 I thought it was good all they way up to the end. There's a good deal of tragedy and loss - but the quality of performance from the cast is first rate. As a side note- no other production has ever presented the far reaching psychic damage to the whole WW1 generation. And the economic hardships in Britain between the wars.
      Another fun period piece is "Babylon Berlin". A German production on NF that also gives a lot of historical subplot from about the same period.

    I love how deep of a person Cillian is. He's a profound thinker and we don't generally see that side of an actor in current times. Cillian is also such a private person that doesn't boast about himself or share personally through social media. Getting an interview with him is probably an amazing experience and quite an accomplishment for the interviewer.

    He doesn't see himself as a "movie star" because he is so much more. He's an actor who gets lost in his parts and he clearly hasn't immersed himself in the Hollywood scene. We need many more like him!

    Didnt' know Cillian had 2 teenage sons. Man does an incredible job staying out of the limelight. And Peaky Blinders, aside from Breaking Bad, is one of the best shows ever created.

      He just doesn't court it. His wife is an artist and does her thing too. Media in Ireland don't really bother people outside of their work. At music gigs he just hangs back and let's the crowd thin out before leaving. He's in a slightly different 'famous' league now though after Oppenheimer.

      Last century, when I watched 60 minutes, it was three segments, each close to 20 minutes, with a few minutes at the end for Andy Rooney.

    I visited Ireland last year for the first time. Fell in love with the land, the people, the rain, rivers, monoliths, the Wild Atlantic, Galway City, Dublin, Sligo, and what have you. This island is truly a paradise on Earth. I will definitively return in the near future. I am happy Cillian received the Oscar. He is truly an outstanding actor.

    Besides Cillian I also like the calmness and relaxing atmosphere the interviewer brings. He lets Cillian speak and seems genuinely interested. Great interview!

      Sorry the interviewer was so wrong about the best scene in the movie. What made the scene he mentioned, wasnt the acting, it was the directing and the music used in that scene. Cillian was great in this movie but Bradley Coopers performance in Maestro was better!

    Cillian has such a class, such a unique aura to the point that he seems surreal. Not only does he have a charming personality but also the intellect and insightful approach towards things. And definitely a 10/10 actor.

    Both of the them - the interviewer and Cillian - are honey for the ears ))) so pleasant to hear their nice manner of speaking, the pronounciation, the slow way of developing the coversation. I enjoyed every minute of it!

    Cillian Murphy is without a doubt one of the finest actors - ever, but for me - it's his eyes. They're riveting. They pull you in deeply, so you can really see who he is trying to be. I don't think I've ever felt that before from any actor. His Academy Award is so well deserved.

    What a truly lovely man. A man who knows himself. Has such depth. Confident brilliant compassionate understanding, & above all, has soul. Loves his family, his Ireland, his home, its people, & appreciates his immense talent without being boastful.
    He has earned the accolades through sheer hard work & encapsulating the world & characters of his roles through discovery.
    There are very few actors capable as Cillian who put themselves so beautifully into their roles.
    This is true talent, love of work.
    I believe he receives so much joy from his craft, & it is evident, & that translates into joy for those who witness his movies & plays.
    I have always found him to be a very interesting genuine man.
    Thankyou to 60 Minutes for one of the best interviews I’ve seen you do.

    This show feels like from another time. No hectic cuts or unnecessary drama. Nice pacing and deep insights, well formulated narration. And Cilian is a great mate to have, I reckon.

    There's so much humility in this man when he speaks, it's incredible to see! The interviewer Scott Pelley did a great job too with the good amount of sensitivity, observation and the right kind of questions asked.

    I've had a healthy obsession with Cillian ever since he played Scarecrow in Batman Begins. Dude's not just an exceptional actor, but has something that just demands attention in such an incredibly subtle way. He's magnetic. So happy he's finally getting some flowers.

    He will win the Oscar. I loved him in Oppenheimer. The film was confusing & felt rushed the first hour, but he held it together & shined until it all came together halfway through. What a powerful film that couldn’t have been made without him.

      Anyone who has seen Nolan's work over the years are used to this style of storytelling and structure. Some people may find it confusing because he doesn't follow the usual linear structure but I think that's what makes his movies unique.

      It's definitely one of those movies you need to watch at least twice to connect the proverbial dots. What I had trouble with was trying to memorize who each character was and their role in the film, because there were just so many of them.

    I have a sincere respect for how humble and down to earth he is, and as others have commented about just being able to sit and have a pint with friends. It says alot about the mutual respect of Cillian and the people of the town. I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

    I liked that they went to his hometown for this interview. This just feels a lot more genuine than the studio or some actors soulless mansion. I'm sure it wasn't their idea, he probably preferred to be somewhere he's comfortable but good on him.

    I've heard what an intelligent man he is. This interview confirms it. And I'm with Cillian when he says he thinks the term "movie star" is a term for other people, because he doesn't really do the whole "movie star thing" and make lots of public appearances out shopping and dining in Hollywood. Instead, he's living a quiet, peaceful life, away from the tabloids and paparazzi. What a genuinely amazing person. I'd love for him to one day write an autobiography.

    What a man. Such a light soul. I've been really curious to see an interview just like that - with Cillian in his dwelling place, in Ireland. I feel like in this interview we get to see him at his most vulnerable, yet it doesn't feel like that at all, instead, it feels super welcoming and warm and homely. Him taking a walk on the beach where he used to rehearse his role for Oppenheimer in front feels particularly special - like a glimpse into his place of power. Such a great interview and it made me really connect with Cillian as if I was his private guest and a close friend, thank you very much!

    The first time I ever saw Cillian was in The Girl With the Pearl Earring (2004). Even though that part was small he made an impression upon me. In 2005, I was blown away when he starred in Breakfast On Pluto. Cillian as Thomas Shelby will always be my favorite. Even though I was not a fan of Oppenheimer, he was exceptional. I pray he wins the Oscar.
