I'm not sure that being offline for 25 years constitutes as "time travel" any more than how we're all time traveling at a rate of one second per second, but it was very interesting to hear about the original script and how it became part of the TV show.

It does make me wonder if Paul Verhoeven stayed on board to direct, he could have his ideas, visuals and gags in Total Recall in RoboCop II. Not to mention the same composer from the first and third movie.

How was Murphy's brain supposed to survive that long in a damaged chassis? 25 years would be an impossibly long time for Robo's onboard power system even if it was in top shape, but his brain is organic, it wouldnt last 25 years without food and water...
I don't agree with Robocop 2 being a weird movie at all. I would say given the premise of the first film Robocop 2 is a safe sequence. It essentially is more of the same and it was damn good. No, you want to talk strange strange look at Robocop 3.
I think Robocop's suit is the only one that has stood the test of time. Eveyrthing else looks like a clown suit nowadays. I didn't know a TV show existed. I'm gonna go get it now.
TWO tv shows, one a CARTOON with violence toned down for children and the other live action but with different actors and not able to have the swearing and violence and implied sexuality of the movies.
@Zurround Fun fact, there was actually a THIRD show, which was really just a mini series. Basically they create an updated version of Robocop who is doing the evil bidding of the Corpos, and Murphy is trying to stop him. Very good show. It was called Prime Directives.
I get that it is NOT technically "official canon" much as certain Star Wars and Star Trek books are not but a long time ago Dark Horse comic books did a ROBOCOP VS TERMINATOR story and TERMINATOR involves time travel.
With Verhoeven and Weller and that original script, the movie surly surpass the robocop 2 release as we know. So bad that never happened. Robocop return is waiting in line for so long :(
This sounds like it could have been a lot better than the Robocop 2 we got. Not so much time traveling as similar to movies where the character awakes from a "coma".

It is incredible how prescient that sequel is that it is now 30 years later and it doesn't feel out of date!
I saw it 32 years ago and to be honest it feels very dated. Robocop was fun and entertaining and still is but it did not stand the test of time well.

This version of Robocop 2 sounds pretty sweet I do like the robocop 2 we got I think it was pretty out there but fun and robocain was awsome.

I honestly believe Total Recall would've been a fantastic sequel to RoboCop.

It has been said that the original robocop 2 script is actually being rewritten and hopefully the original team can bring it to life.
