I have colostomy for seven months now but recently i started experiencing blockage in my poo that makes it difficult for stomach to be free pls you throw light on this? Secondary what is the best sleeping position sir. Thank so much for the information.
Thank you for this, Joseph. I now feel better prepared for the planned surgery I have coming up that will reult in my having a stoma bag.

I started wearing an illiostomy pouch a month ago and my skin around the stomach kept getting burned around it giving me misery constantly….I was using powder and barrier spray and the barrier ring donut underneath the wafer plus the purple Marathon liquid …..it all did no good…Even if the pouch wasn’t leaking my skin kept getting burned…I even had nurses changing it for me to no avail…. Finally by accident I happened to see a squeeze tube of barrier seal paste by Cloplast among all my medical supplies I had….I didn’t know what it was…..So I googled it up….No one had ever even mentioned it to me in or out of the hospital… So I tried it when I changed the pouch instead of using the barrier ring seal…..And Amazingly….IT WORKED!!!!! NO MORE BURNING ON MY SKIN….!!!! I can’t beleive it….After a month of misery…..No more pain from burning…… I hope this info will help someone else to avoid what I been going thru…… Coloplast barrier seal non alcohol paste …..Instead of the adhesive barrier seal donut…..
Is this a colostomy or an ileostomy?
I have an ileostomy.
Stomabag
my brother is just having an operation today this video has been so helpful
That burger looked absolutely amazing! Thanks for the video.
It really was! Probably one of the best burgers I've ever had.
In short it’s permanent in the sense the way your body stores fat. You can only mitigate slightly with working out or calorie intake, but fat will naturally build up in these areas unfortunately.
Yeah I think thats a good summary.
@@JosephGreenly have you thought of maybe using metformin even if you don’t have diabetes, Im sure it could help with bloat and body fat since cause is mostly likely the prednisone makes the person sensitivity to sugar probably a preventative measure even to diabetes.
Very good info❤
Hi brother I have ulcerative colitis , currently on Remsima injections , my symptoms got better , but still lost some weight, and bone pains , anxiety and depression, Im really thinking to get the operation done , does it makes life better regards bad colitis symptoms ? I train boxing myself , few years ago even wanted to compete ,and also because of fatigue , is been hard working jobs , is there any help i could get from government with UC ?
I wouldn't want to try to persuade someone as my situation was having the bag or losing my life. I know people who tried the medicine and then had the bag and felt like it was an improvement. But it all depends on your situation and how much you flare up, but also if you have active colitis all through your bowl surgery isn't a cure. Also I'm no doctor so I would speak to someone to get the most information. There might be help from the government but I am not aware of how to go about it. Probably on the gov website. I wish you all the best.
Great video! I second everything you've said here. I take 2 spare bags with me everywhere (even for a meal) as you never know when a leak might strike 👀 I've made a video of what I take in my handbag 💖💪🏻
Under the wafer my skins gets itchy
Hi i live in south africa. 2020 my trouble started with getting my ileostomy bags. Tried everything they tell me convatec has closed down. My favourite bags. I have a retract stoma so now south african big pharmaceutical companies tell me sorry you have to take a new bag and pay double for it. I am 65 this problem i can't solve is there anybody out there overseas that can help.
Can you eat anything right now ?(No issue of chrons right?)
More or less I can eat anything. I do have to avoid nuts and raw vegetables.
Yes! I thought of this before I just forgot to start using a bigger bag when I go to bed.
I’ve been taking prednisolone for 5 months for RA. Down to 7.5 mg daily. I’ve lost a stone and a half with cutting starch and sugar but my face is round and bloated looking so it’s not caused by extra calories and must be swollen due to the steroids.
Nice one mate
My question is HOW to make the barrier to stop coming into the stoma area. I've had mine 4 months now and it's happening again.
There are different products that could help. I have a collar that goes onto my skin before the bag. You can see it in my how to change an ileostomy video. There is also other types of barrier types of products you could maybe get samples of to try.
I lie in bed to change my bag, standing up would be hard
I have a stoma bag ,I do light bi cep curls 40lbs dumbells for around 15 reps.
Great information, thank you.. I have had a colostomy for about 10 years now, I had colo-rectal cancer. I have had some challenges., but the information you have shared, are fabulous, thank you.

Hey Just Wanted to know If Everything going Great..! Iam Nayem From Bangladesh I was having a colostomy Bag For 4 months in 2022 I started my fitness programme and i need consultantions and i need it badly enough Iam not sure about lifting weights and things is it going to be harm myself.? Just Needed Some Help Just need some advice for my health I hope you would be kind for that and have a conversation about it That Would Be Great Hope Your Doing Well ❤️🙌
I have a few other videos about lifting and eating with a stoma, hopefully they can help.
has crohn's but uses frylight which contains emulsifiers.
It didnt know emulsifiers were bad. Whats wrong with them if you have Colitis or Crohns?
@@JosephGreenly emulsifiers combine oil & water to make 1 liquid, your body then struggles to filter it
@@DruidzTV I see i'll have to look into that. Never caused me any issues though.
is there any exercises u couldn’t do due to the bag? Been worried I may not be able to do exercises like the leg press or seated rows because the pad rests on the front of u
I have crohn and I can’t do any squat my knee hurts so bad but every other exercise i can do it easily i try every time to do squats but more than my body weight I can’t
If your uncomfortable using machines where the bag might have pressure on it there is always a variation to try. For rows you can do it with dumbbells or a barbell. Leg press you could try squats or single leg exercises. If you can a coach could be really helpful to find what works for you.
i was heavily into the gym before i had a very bad flare up of Ulcerative Colitis, I just turned 21 so it was hard to get into gastroenterologists to see me and assess the situation so the flare up went on for over a month and got really bad leading me to get an ileostomy just a few days ago, I was and still am in shock, they said it had a good chance at getting undone tho. Watching ur videos is inspiring and making me realize having the bag isn’t the end of the world and people can still live normal lives and do everything everyone else can, i’m still in the hospital bed recovering and can’t wait to get back to lifting
I'm glad my videos have helped with your recovery. I hope your recovering well still I am sure you'll be back to lifting soon. I know people who live with a stoma and are fine but also know people who have it reverved and again they are happy as well. So there are options from this point for you and I wish you all the best in your recovery.
Thanks Joe had my stoma just over 2 years picked up a couple tips the bag idea plus I always put the protective seal on the baseplate before I fit it will try putting it on my stoma first then fit the bag on
Thank you for the comment and I am glad this video was helpful.
Thank you x
Thank you, Joeseph.
My husband has had his for 5 months now, no bag leak thus far. Thank you for sharing❤❤❤❤

Hi. You are so brave. Can you share symptoms between June when you first noticed the mucus and when in December you noticed blood in your poo. All my prayers are with you to have a long and happy life.
Hi, the symptom's were lack of appetite, upset stomach, weight loss and the blood appearing.
@@JosephGreenly Thanks a lot for your response. In your video you said you noticed blood first time in your poo in December of that same year when in June you noticed just mucus. But from this response it seems like you were having blood even before December. Please clarify me on this point that is my understanding correct? Once again so nice of you to share your very painful experience. It needs a lot of courage and bravery. I will always pray for your long and very happy life. InshaaALLAH. ALWAYS STAY BLESSED.
What an incredible person you are
Well this just make my day! Well my week thank you!
@JosephGreenly hi, had to reply.i found your video the most positive and uplifting regards living with an ileostomy stoma. I,ve had mine 18 months due to bowel cancer. It saved my life as no other option was available. I regard myself as incredibly lucky that medicine surgeons and technology was able to save my life.i have a very upbeat attitude like yourself. As the saying goes what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Keep those videos going, especially for our fellow ostomates who struggle with such a big life change. Good on you Joseph 👏
That’d be my luck not seeing Mount Fuji as well, lol. It looks a beautiful place though. I love the t-shirt that Alex is wearing with the cats (Hizz)…very cool for us cat lovers.
Yeah just my luck but means we have to go back. Thank you I will tell you mentioned her shirt! We do love our cats 😻
