  • Talking over getting covid and living with it for the last couple of weeks.
I don't give any medical advice because that would be stupid, I talk about my situation and hopefully someone out there finds it helpful.

Thanks for sharing. Glad you are feeling better......It certainly shows that even with proper social distancing practices you can be a victim of this pandemic. Any idea about the area of transmission? How you were exposed.

I have no idea, It could have been at a restaurant I went to, even the gym as I was there a few or so before. However no one I know in my job other than me has had it recently and only 30 people go to my gym as its sort of private. Other than those two it might have been when I went shopping, I just have no idea really. All I'm going to change is making sure I sanitise more often when I am out and about.

Dear Joe, I too have colitis and have reached the end of my tether - I've finally requested the surgery and to be given a permanent end ileostomy (in all honesty I'm looking forward to it).
My question however, relates to weightlifting. I know you have been very successful in your powerlifting, and wanted to ask about the ileostomy support belts to prevent hernias. Is the specialist belt sufficient to prevent hernias, or do you also use your normal weightlifting belt to cover the stoma as well? I've never used a weightlifting belt when I lift, and would prefer not to in future.
    Many thanks

Hey Joshua, Good luck in your surgery to have an Ileostomy. For me I wear both, I have my hernia support belt under my T-shirt and then I have my weightlifting belt. I dont use the weightlifting belt for my stoma this is more for my posture and core stability. Wearing a weightlifting belt cant give you an additional 10% for a 1 rep max and as a powerliftter that is the aim of the game. I would just try our a few products and see what fits you, also speak to your doctor and physio

What was having the test like as I've heard some people found it distressing (eek)...I've heard conflicting reports on that. Was it painful? God, it must have been an awful feeling having a positive result back! I'm glad you're all recovering...lots of cat cuddles for you and Alex from your furry babies :)

The test was a drive through it was very odd. They passed the test through the window and you only opened it the smallest amount. You put the swab to the back of your throat and then the same swab goes into your nose. Then you place it into a tube and that's it. If you don't like things tickling your throat and nose you wont like it. But its only for 10 seconds each so I don't think its the worst thing ever. Especially as I've had cameras in uncomfortable areas before. Yeah Im back to normal now and I think it was the cat cuddles that helped :)

Hi joeseph im sorry to hear that u got tested positive for corona. I hope you beat it real quick. Im sorry to bring this up but i first saw you through moonface side affects from prednisone. I was on 60mg prednisone for 3months and just started going down. I got all the side affects like acnes hair growth stretch marks mood swings anxiety and MOONFACE im really worried that my moon face and acne wont go away after off fully... my doctor said everything will go back to normal quickly but I honestly dont trust him.. does moon face go away completely like before i was taking the pills? If it does, how long does it take to come back to normal? Im really worried that my face will stay like this forever.. and if it doesnt, is there any solutions? (Btw i was never fat never gained face fat too i been working out for 2 years now) (and will i ever get moonface by eating pizzas and burgers? After pills)

Hi Peter, thanks for the comment and im back to normal now. With regards to moonface, once you stop taking the medication it should go back to normal. How fast that is will be down to you, I understand your reasoning for not trusting your doctor, and you ask another doctors opinion. I wont give medical advice as that would be irresponsible of me, what I can say is that these worries are normal and whilst it really sucks to be on meds. One day you hopefully wont be and be looking back on this time in your life as the tough time it was that helped you grow. Wish you all the best.
