Love the show and loved the music. Watching reruns on YT these days that music takes me back on a trip down memory lane to those yrs living in NYC, walking those streets, feeling in my mind those noises, sounds (not the same), the smell of the city, the people always in a rush which I learned to do too. Thank you very much Sir for your contribution in making NYC an unforgettable place full of great memories.

Blossom... yes, I remember watching snippets of this show. However, the show also reminds me of another entitled, Punky Brewster. These two shows were similar but I did not fully engage in them where I found the story lines quite pointless and altogether boring. 🤔

I love this song! I have it on your two albums: "Television Theme Songs" and Joey Scarbury's "America's Greatest Hero". Inspiring, catchy, and beautiful! I recently discovered another one of your theme songs from a very short-lived Cannell series around that same time, "The Quest": "Kings and Queens" sung by Lisa Lee. I wished the full song was on one of your albums. Equally inspiring, catchy, and beautiful. Would've been another hit.

I loved this theme as well as the second season theme: "Back to Back" sung by Joey Scarbury. I was surprised David Morgan received screen credit for singing "Drive" on the pilot, but not on the series. The full versions of both should've been put out on records.

0:31-0:34 That shot of Jim Rockford and his dad was used in the end credits for the first couple of seasons.

The original theme was done by Ian-Freebairn Smith for the first couple of episodes.

I wish there was an album of the music from the show, not just the theme but the montage music when they built stuff too.

The quality did dip toward the end, but still one of the greatest cop shows ever. This theme is iconic, everyone knows it.

As a small child I grew up hearing this theme song every week in Australia, as my parents religiously watched NYPD Blue. I don't remember any of the story lines, just the theme song and some of the visuals accompanying. As a 40-something now, I've almost finished watching the second season. Thank you.

This detective drama was made for the USA Network, I believe, and scheduled for the late night viewing hours when the kids are in bed.

You can tell me that the American Bar Association licensed that song - specifically for those five notes on French horn - for their recruitment ads back in the late 80s/early 90s and I wouldn’t even question it.

I prefer the first version of the credits!
