- It was Steve Cannel's idea to use a song with a vocal for Greatest American Hero's Theme. I think I wrote a pretty good melody, but I know for sure that Steven Geyer wrote a truly artful and fantastic lyric in that it encapsulated the whole idea of the series while making an analogy for love.

So true. In Italy you could find first grade schoolers, like me, trying to guess the lyrics. It was such a sweet melody. I don’t know if Mr. Post has any idea of the impact on us European kids that his melodies had, but I can guarantee it was significant and meaningful 😊

One of my all time favorites. I just heard Bay City Blues last night, it had a minor league feel to it. I’m now watching L.A. Law season one. That is a great theme song. Lawyers trying to navigate life in L.A. in 1986. Plus Hill Street Blues and Rockford Files are also my favorites.

I recently discovered another one of your theme songs from a very short-lived Cannell series around that same time, "The Quest": "Kings and Queens" sung by Lisa Lee. I wished the full song was on one of your albums. Equally inspiring, catchy, and beautiful. Would've been another hit.

I was 12 years old when this first aired on tv. I was at my aunt and uncles house watching it with them and their son who was a few years younger than me. All three of them are deceased now and I just keep on going, 55 now.
They should bring this back on again use same people or someone else take over role

Though this is clearly the best vocal version of this tune, I am also quite fond of the George Costanza version.
Murder One was fantastic. But NYPD Blue you had to just blast it in a loop - it could not have been more perfect. Then, the camera ops, producers, and editors did a wonderful job of shooting and matching great visuals to it, especially the fireworks and drummer at the end to match the first 4 beats each. So punchy!
Would be awesome to have a direct clean instrumental of this.
