NYPD Blue Theme - Composer: Mike Post

So emotionally, for a lot of reasons, this was the most satisfying main title theme that I ever wrote by myself. I'm personal friends with a number of LAPD detectives and a few NYPD officers and I hope that this music did them proud. I know I made Steven Bochco, David Milch, Greg Hobblet happy.

As a small child I grew up hearing this theme song every week in Australia, as my parents religiously watched NYPD Blue. I don't remember any of the story lines, just the theme song and some of the visuals accompanying.
As a 40-something now, I've almost finished watching the second season.

I miss that show. Great theme song. Jimmy Smits fresh off his L.A.Law run. James McDaniel back in Blue after Hill Street Blues. David Caruso oddly leaves to become a movie star. Dennis Franz gets new life after Bay City Blues and Beverly Hills Buntz get canceled. I miss the 80’s and 90’s.
