Wood art creation. For those of you who are interested in a little info about me, personally, woodworking is a hobby I picked up to manage the stress of my real job as the lead pastor of Mission Hills Church, based in Littleton, Colorado. It’s a great church...amazing staff and congregation, but it’s a little on the large side which creates a constant set of stressors. Woodturning is how I keep the stress under control. My wife and I have two daughters and a couple of dogs.

Woodturning - Manzanita Burl Hybrid Bowl

I love Manzanita burls…such interesting grain, figuring and colors! I used Promise Epoxy Deep Pour epoxy resin to cast this slightly odd piece of Manzanita burl. The turning process to craft this was just basic lathe techniques, mostly using carbid woodturning tools. Thanks for watching, commenting, liking and subscribing…really helps me out! Woodturning - Aspen Tumbler
zhlédnutí 889Před měsícem
Pretty simple woodturning project this week, but it sure turned out nice! This is a piece of Colorado Aspen tree, turned to allow a tumbler I bought at Michael’s to fit inside. After shaping and smoothing the wood on the outside, I applied TotalBoat Fast Set epoxy which, when turned under a heat lamp, cured up in about 10 minutes. This allowed me to sand it down and reapply another couple of co...

Woodturning - Super Buggy Ash Pedestal Bowl
zhlédnutí 3,7KPřed 2 měsíci
I had this piece of Ash from a tree that died in our yard. Ash itself is super hard, but this one had a lot of bug trails (probably what killed it) that had to be cleaned out and filled with epoxy resin. I used a UV curing resin that allowed me to sand the resin down very quickly. I put ash dust in the resin to create something pretty close to the color and grain of the wood. Thanks for watchin...
Woodturning - Cracked Elm Natural Bowl

I had this funky chunk of Colorado Elm drying in the garage and decided it was time to craft into into something cooler. Had some cracks that I filled using UV resin with Maple mica powder. Final finish was just some Walnut oil. Nothing fancy about the project itself, just good old fashioned woodturning techniques using both a traditional bowl gouge and a carbide tool for smoothing. Aspen & Resin Two-Tone Platter

I made this woodturning video from the process of turning a bunch of different sized Aspen branches/logs into a platter. I used Promise Epoxy Deep Pour Epoxy for both pours. I used spray-on lacquer to seal up the open grain of the Aspen wood and then applied a couple coats of MAX CLR resin which is food safe. Thanks for watching!
Woodturning - Enormous/Very Wet Aspen Bowl!
zhlédnutí 3,9KPřed 3 měsíci
I just about maxed out my lathe on this one! In fact, you can hear the lathe squeal a little bit when it starts to turn the full log. I had to rough out the bowl and then put it into an oven for about 12 hours to really get it dry and ready to turn. Thanks for watching, liking and subscribing. Really helps me out! Woodturning - The Dash Inlayed Vase

This woodturning video shows the creation of a Sapele wood vase with Inlayed dashes made from Ambrosia Maple. Nothing particular difficult about the process. Woodturning - Spalted Myrtlewood Sphere Stem Vase
zhlédnutí 14KPřed 4 měsíci
I found these pieces of spalted Myrtlewood in Oregon late last year. They were very spalted and required soaking in Cactus Juice Stabilizing Resin. Even so, they were pretty punky! I used basic woodturning techniques to get the pieces round, then hollowed out an inner sphere. A bit of Pewter made for a nice band at the seam. The final piece is a little funky, but I like it! Thanks for watching,...

This is a very beautiful bowl. 👍 Do you sell your work?
Yes I do. That piece isn’t up yet, but you can find some of my other pieces at www.etsy.com/shop/caswoodcraft
Very Nice Well Done
Is the gouge bevel below center when you start roughing?
Usually. In this case it was right at about center level and I angled it down just a touch to bring the tip below the center level
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
That is crazy beautiful!! Thank you, so much, for sharing that process with us.
You are so welcome!
Beautiful Piece, Full View and Like 👍
Thank you! I appreciate it!
I'm a staunch "my shop, my rules" kind of guy, but I have to ask. Were those drywall screws?
Yep. All I had that was long enough.
@@CASWoodcraft if it works, it works.🤣
Stunning 👏👏
Thank you! Cheers!
Thanks ❤
আপনি যে কাজটা করেছেন আসলে এই ডিজাইনটা অনেক সুন্দর
সদয় শব্দের জন্য আপনাকে ধন্যবাদ
If you had asked what type of wood this was, I could have given a hundred guesses and still not got it right. Even after it's done, I still am thinking it's Elm. Very cool. Usually, these don't get to stay together till the end. Good job.
I’m pretty sure it’s walnut. I’ve never worked with elm that had that kind of grain. Also the elm I’ve worked with has a pretty open grain and this grain is tight.
@CASWoodcraft oh I believe you. I'm seeing it through a camera. I'm just trying to convey the amazement of how unique every piece of wood can be. I've made some really cool stuff from black cherry burls formed around a cut limb cap. Never know what's going to be these things.
That was mesmerizing. Beautiful work.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words.
Stunning. Love it.
Thank you! Cheers!
Toll … schönes Ergebnis 🤩
Danke. Ich freue mich über den netten Kommentar.
I think if you would put a narrative with your videos you would get a lot more views. It’s always nice to know what people are thinking. Good luck
You’re probably right, but I speak for a living and doing so for my “hobby” takes some of the fun out of it. :)
Nature's finest with a little bit of help from some well chosen color additives make it " POP" ... well done !!! I would be proud to own it !! Congrats ! You the MAN 😁👉✌
Thank you! Cheers!
love your channel, i just found you! I just started creating and posting as well and you are in inspiration !
Awesome! Thank you!
You should take the split end and cast it in epoxy, and create a conversation piece which matches the excellent wooden cup you just made! 😁
I may do just that!
Beautiful piece of wood 👏👏
It really is!
Beautiful Piece
Thank you! Cheers!
What is the food safe epoxy?
To my understanding. Once fully cured, and mixed to the manufacturer's recommendations, any of them, unless specifically noted otherwise.
To my understanding, @colinwatmoe7041 is correct. However, I was using MAX CLR which is specifically a food grade epoxy with FDA approval as such.
@@CASWoodcraft Thank you,

Nice bowl, but sorely needs your voice as audio guiding us through the turning . Just the sound of the gouge cutting the wood is very boring .
Thanks for the tip. I speak for a living, though, so it’s nice to take a break from talking in my “hobby” time.
I love the resin color, and the contrast between resin and wood, but I do wish you had cut the outside diameter down to what your finished inside diameter was to expose more of the burl. I feel making the piece just that little bit smaller would have pushed it to the next level. Have the resin accent the wood, instead of the wood accenting the burl. That aside I still think it's a good shape and nice project. I'm wish I had time and access to a woodshop to learn these skills for myself.
thanks!
cute bowl with beautiful wood--- nice work
Thank you very much!
Beautiful bowl 👏👏
thanks!

What a waste of a large burl

Another stupid youtube video.
Wow !!
Everything always seems to look better in walnut...definitely my favourite 😊 Amazing candle holder... turned out great 😁💙
It became a work of art 😍😍
Beautiful. Love the grain of walnut. I bet it will be super stunning with the light of a candle. Nicely done, as usual!
Thank you very much!

I'm going to try one of these.
Excellent, Excellent, Excellent.
Nice job
Thank you! Cheers!
Very nice. I don’t do many epoxy bowls. But when I do people love them.
Too much resin and not enough exposed wood
I, for one, adore the shape! Lot of critics on here!
Thanks!
Beautiful, Craig!
thanks!
Awesome! ❤
Thank you! Cheers!
I really like the profile you gave the vase. That coupled with the beauty of walnut makes it top notch. Awesome work keep on going.
Thanks, will do!
Amazing finished product! Wondering if you had to stop and sharpen your gouge? If so how many times? Your work is impeccable sir!
Actually, I only sharpened each tool once. The bowl gouge was getting a little dull at the end there, but not too much
Very Nice Piece !!
Many thanks!
