    The first thing I thought you'd do when you removed to airbox was to cover open throttle body, to prevent anything from falling into it. I would also recommend that you brush and blow off, or vacuum off, the valve cover prior to removing any of the spark plug coils, again, to prevent any debris from falling into the spark plug wells. And, as you commented, a good time to also clean the throttle body, and the MAF sensor.

    You are the man! Incredibly thankful for this video. I replaced the passenger side, and like a commenter below I discovered that on the passenger side the cables are wound around the spool in the opposite direction (the front cable winds around the back of the spool). Enormous headaches on the passenger side due to a massive air-handling unit that blocks the rear cable exit. I couldn't figure out how to remove it completely. I was able to loosen the unit enough to work around it and only lost one bolt to the void in the process.

    Great video. I had to do the passenger side which has the cable wound opposite this side. Procedure: Put door in MOSTLY closed position and FRONT cable winds on the back of the spool. Also, make sure to check slack on the outside of your van before testing. Front end of my cable somehow got underneath the track, which shaved off the cable coating. Lucky me, I got to do this twice. Grateful it only cost me $28 each time.

    I replaced broken cables on the passenger side on a 2011 Odyssey. Push the button and door opens perfectly now. However when I push the button to close it gets nearly all the way, literally and inch or so from closing then its beeps a few times and opens back up. I can close it all the way manually. Ive checked for obstructions or any clear problems and don't see any. I've tried the reset method of holding both buttons down together and the method of holding them down the whole time while opening and closing the door and nothing seems to work Anybody have ideas what i can do??

    This was a very helpful video. With this video I was able to replace the cable system in 2.5 hours. My car repair guy told me to not bother because you'd have to replace the whole motor etc, and just cut the wires and use it as a manual door. I decided to not take his advise. If I did it again I could do it under 2 easily. I bought the pre assembled and cut kid off amazon for $20 CAD. I wouldn't bother with the ones you have to crimp yourself. One thing to note that might make this easier is to not reattach your door to the slider assembly until almost the last step. this made spooling the bobbin easier.

I did have the wires spun tight during install they were not loose. What did I do wrong? Should I have closed the door manually then set the buttons like shown?

    • @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto
      @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto Před 24 dny

      Maybe the wires were wound backwards, was it the driver or passenger side. The passenger side is wound the opposite direction. The reason I suggested moving the door open and closed manually is to verify that the spool and cables move freely. Let me know what you find out.

      Go to the end of my video and redo the steps to resent the home position. If that doesn’t work, you can try greasing the track. Also check to make sure the weatherstripping is reinstalled correctly. It almost sounds like there is something interfering as the door tries to latch shut. Let me know what you discover.

    Nice video. Only caveat is to know what is under that battery and maybe protect your driveway. I had a AAA tech do this to the battery terminals on one of my cars - he used a pump sprayer. Replaced the battery and the car started fine. Next day the car wouldn't start. Turns out the starter was directly underneath the battery and it had gotten caked with the baking soda mixture. That destroyed the starter and also left a large stain on my driveway.

    • @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto
      @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto Před měsícem

      A lot less than 2.5 hours. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Back when I was a mechanic in the mid-90’s at a small independent shop, we had thick books where you could look up particular jobs for specific cars. If the book said 4 hours and it took 2, the customer would be charged for 4. Alternatively, if it took 8, the customer would still be charged for 4. Sometimes the mechanic won and sometimes they lost. In your case, including prep and cleanup, a skilled mechanic could easily get the job done in one hour or less. That 2.5 hours also probably included a filter change.

I could not get the pin out no matter how hard I tried, so I took the two bolts off and pounded the pin out on a vice. . Overall, not to bad, I just went at a steady pace. • @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto
      @YOUCanFixAnythingAuto Před měsícem

      If by “sliding door light” you mean the warning light that informs you when a door is open or not completely shut, then yes, it did go off. However, if your sliding doo is completely shut and latched, even with a broken cable, the light will go off. That’s the only light I’m aware of. Please let me know if that answers your question.

    • @lp6wo
      @lp6wo Před měsícem

      @@YOUCanFixAnythingAuto there was a light in the dash that said “sliding door”. Came on when the cable broke, went off after disconnecting the battery for few minutes. While it was on, the door motor was in some kind of “safe mode” and would not turn and once I reconnected the battery it went off and the motor turned confirming it was just the cable and not the motor. Was able to replace the cables in a little over an hour. Worst part was the broken cable was wrapped up pretty good on the wheel making it kind of a pain to get off. Thanks for the video. Thanks man! 1.5 hrs and its working.. my cable was jamed in the spool and could not get it out.. had to pull the cable with pilers which may or may not have bent over some of the channels on the spool. Couldn't find a place to get a replacement spool so just ended up using it and seems to be working for now.

      Great job! Yeah, sometimes when the cable breaks and we continue to open and close the door by force, things get pretty jammed up.
