I would advise installing shut offs if you're already making changes anyway could use a sharkbite ball valve, and also for anyone not familiar with sharkbites, and/or plumbing in general I'd spend the $3-$5 on the orange marking/deburring tool so you will know for sure that it is connected all the way, because it can feel like it's locked in then you put pressure in lines and the joint comes undone.
Great advice! I have a 40-year love/hate relationship with shutoff valves. In my experience, when I need them most, they often don’t work, break, or begin leaking. Not always, but far too often. Of course, in an emergency, something is better than nothing. I'll definitely check into the SharkBite Ball valve and the marking/deburring tool. Thanks!
I recommend installing shut-off valves for all plumbing fixtures to facilitate future maintenance or repairs. Money and time well spent in my experience. When there is a leak time is critical and being able to isolate the fixture without shutting off water elsewhere can minimize disruptions while repairs are being performed.

Do you have a design that you find to be high quality and reliable through the years? I would love to try it out and share it on my channel. 👍🏼
I have had very good success with Sharkbite shut off valves. I have used the quarter turn ball valve shut offs for faucets, toilets, & exterior spigots. In fact, I will be installing one this week when I install a new exterior spigot. Even though the spigot is frost free I prefer to install a shut off valve. This will allow me to shut off the water during the winter and/or for future servicing of the spigot. I usually get my SharkBite fittings from a commercial vendor (Supply House). I have recently tried the push connect fittings made by Bluefin which I purchased from Supply House. So far my experience with the Bluefin brand has been excellent.
@@sjpropertyservices3987 - Good to know. Thanks for sharing!
Love sharkbites, as a plumber of 25yrs, they keep me in business, I have plenty of pictures of SB's blowing apart.
I have limited experience with them, having more experience with copper and PVC. However, my experience has been positive.
As a plumber of 25 years, let me ask you..
How long before the pvc cracks due to being bent the way it is..
Especially that hot water line..
I think there's an easier way to get to the same solution.. but like OP said to each their own..
@@CeeLocKills 90's would have been a better choice for sure. PVC cracks on it's own over a long period of time, but bending doesn't help. PVC gets brittle over time. Most of the plumbers I know and work with hate PVC.
yes, and everything else leak to it a business.
@@CeeLocKills - just to clarify, the material I’m working with is PEX pipe, not PVC. I would dare put that kind of stress on PVC. Thanks for commenting. 👍🏼
If this is feeding a Moen fixture you can rotate the cartridge and the hot / cold will be switched there. There are lots of videos on how to change Moen cartridges on CZcams.
We have Delta, but that’s a great tip! Thanks for sharing! 👍🏼
Nice clear and informative video, TY
Glad it was helpful! 👍🏼
Make a mark on the pipe to know how deep the connection is.
Good tip! Noted! 👍🏼
Handyman work.
I’ll take that as a compliment. 😊
Love pex
Me too. 👍🏼
I love ti Thank you.
One of the first things I did when I bought a rental property. There were NO shut of valves at any of the plumbing fixtures. The units were empty and I was able to install shut off valves at all fixtures without inconvenience any tenants.
Thank you, Gerald! 👍🏼
That’s a good practice!
You will be back to fix a lot of water damage in time!!
Time will tell. If the product is as bad as professional plumbers say it is, I would think that SharkBite would’ve been hit with class-action suits a long time ago! 🤔
Says the guy with the sick logo as his picture. Really a masturb*ting hand????
Thought pex was freeze protected and would break?
When frozen long enough, hard enough and enough times, any material will eventually fail. Regardless, PEX is much more resistant to freeze failure than other materials.
Only install sharkbites in a place easily accessible. Because guess what u will be back lol
I find it interesting the number of commenters who say something like this (most have said they are professional plumbers). If these fittings were as unreliable as the pros say, then SharkBite would have been saddled with multiple class-action judgments against them. Maybe they've been sued here and there, but I haven't heard about them. No doubt that the pros hate them because the average homeowner can now easily complete simple repairs themselves.
It's incredibly easy to use clamps or rings, I would avoid shark bites at all cost
It’s definitely a matter of preference. My experience with SharkBites has been positive, but other methods are good too. 👍🏼
Why not fix the original problem of the reversed hot & cold instead of this cross-over kludge?
I’m not sure what a “kludge” is, but I assume it’s not a positive term. 😅 Regardless, it’s a great question!
The reason it’s was originally switched was from a plumber who cut out a bunch of freeze-damaged galvanized pipe and mixed up the lines when installing the new PEX. The bathroom is in a 110 year old farm house and was constructed by closing in a porch over 60 years ago. The space to work is very tight (it doesn’t really qualify as a crawl space, since there’s not even room to turn on your side).
To make matters worse, I received a bite from a Brown Recluse spider in that crawl space about 10 years ago that turned into a full-system staph infection, which required 6 weeks of strong antibiotics to fix. (TMI?) It was also winter time and the only way to access the crawl space was to dig out a small manhole opening in the outside of the foundation, requiring hours of hard work, suffering, and possibly death by spider bite.
So yeah, a few minutes of work while cozily sitting on the toilet lid in my pajamas was preferable. 😂
Yikes lol hope you have a readily accessible panel for them demons… i mean shark bites lol
Yep! Sure do!
That is not how that is done!
OK. What advice do you have?
@@YOUCanFixAnythingAuto use flexible line with shut off valves
@@edmundooliver7584 - I’d be interested to see what you are referring to as flexible line. As far as I am aware, PEX pipe is the most flexible line available for this application. Are you suggesting hoses used for connecting sink faucets?
@@YOUCanFixAnythingAuto yes, I am if it,s going to hot and cold faucet
Are you really wearing pajamas?
Guilty as charged! 😅 I woke up on a Saturday morning and decided to record this video. I figured that if I kept my legs out of it, nobody would know. Guess I failed at that one!
A horrible video, "He can Fix anything" did not prepare the pipes or the cuts were well done. The pipes will not seat properly in the PEX union. Again I hope no one does what "He can Fix anything" did. Good intention is not enough.
Thanks for the feedback. One of the great things about PEX pipe is that it’s very forgiving. Still holding strong and leak free!
Ninety would have looked more professional
Each to his own! 😅
