You mention if one cuts the other cuts - this feels like an argument against equalization in this specific case. An unequalized anchor would likely see the loaded strand sever, giving warning of the impending danger

I know you love the gigajul, have you ever tried the CT Alpine Up? Looks pretty tempting right now and apparently more efficient than the gigajul, and feels like a grigri while on rappel or belaying from what I've heard. What did you think about it if you tried it, and if you didn't, any reason why not? Would you give it a go? ^^ I really want to try it. Best thing for me compare to a grigri, or the new pinch, is having guide mode and two ropes options...

I really like a purcell as i find it the easiest of the personal tethers to extend while weighted. This makes it easier and safer to weight and test my systems when cleaning/rappelling which is nice. I also like that its a fair bit cheaoer 😊

I've also found Jetboils pretty useless for simmering - the flame goes out if set too low. However, I've found them great for doing a stir fry - ideal in fact as stir frying should be done at high temperatures. Buying a packet of stir fry veg, a cured meat - panchetta is great for this, a packet of noodles and a bottle of stir fry sauce (e.g. sweet Thai chilli). I take along with me a bottle of spray cooking oil and using a mess tin over the Jetboil flame. Adding the meat to the hot oil, shortly afterwards adding the veg, noodles and a good splurge of the sauce and within minutes will have a very tasty, nutritious and filling meal. Typically the portions sold by the food outlets are for two people so I keep by half of each for the following night - I've found they all keep even in hot weather plus it's not weighty to carry around in your backpack. I always use my lanyard when climbing outdoors. It's just soo handy. It's basically always attached to my harness. Attaching to bolts Attaching to an anchor extend my rappel When ascending a rope When doing a counterbalance rappel rappelling past a knot When trad climbing in a group of three you often need to swap rope ends. So attaching yourself with something that isn't the rope is mandatory and since it's always there I use it. I use it way more often than I use slings. I do carry slings. But since it's always there, I default to using the PAS

prusik for bailing off one bolt is great - thank you for the video. My initial thought on that though was whether the prusik would hold or snap in the scenario you show with the animation??

I like them fixed so probably this is why I won't get an Arcteryx 395A... Which is super comfy on your back but leg loops... Dunno... I tried a S and leg loops were not great to adjust. Q: would it be possible for lefties to swing it round to opposite with handle facing other way for them instead, and lower sort of backwards?

I'm a bit worried about that last technique of tying the rope into a loop through two bolts. As far as i can tell, if the top bolt fails and your fall is arrested by a double strand of rope, that would effectively be a fall factor of 2. I guess that is still better than hitting the ground, but that would not always be a risk. Thoughts?

Is the Petzl belayer at 2:09 rolling the brake rope far enough up the lip? If I were tutoring a new Grigri user I'd certainly tell them to pull the rope a little closer to them, so it runs over the centre of the lip.

Hi. I have a question. This comes from years back when I was taught to use two half hitches instead of the mule to tie off. I find Two half hitches easier to teach, easier to learn, faster to tie, and easier to untie. Can you help me understand why the tied off mule is now the norm? Thanks!

What I was hoping to find out in this video was how does it work feeding slack compared to a tubular assisted braking device? I know you've used the Giga Jul as well as a lot of other tubular assisted braking devices. Would you say that this one is easier for lead climbing or would you stick with the tubular style?
