Hydrangea Update & Planting in the Raised Beds ~ birdhouse garden
Hi Everyone! I've missed growing flowers, herbs, and vegetables in the raised beds. I'm starting off slow. By the end of the season the beds should be full of color and produce. Soon all the hydrangeas will be in full bloom. They are looking full of color and I'm so excited to see the front garden full of blue! Thank you for stopping by. :)

Backyard Garden Tour May 2024 ~ birdhouse garden

Hi Everyone! Our backyard garden has come a long way. With each season, I try to add to the flowerbeds. There are a few more projects that we would like to tackle. My husband is looking to retire soon. Maybe then we'll have a little more time to spend on our wish list of things we want to add to the garden. Thank you so much for stopping by. :)

Hi Everyone! It's been a beautiful spring. We've enjoyed the mild weather so much. The new cocktail gin begonia border is filling in and soon will look full. The Carding Mill rose is in full bloom. The variegated hydrangeas are beginning to form buds, and soon will be full of color. Thank you for stopping by! :)

Hi Everyone! As embarrassing as this rug looks... I wanted you to see a before and after look at how pressure washing can make a big difference when cleaning your outdoor patio rugs. It's been a warm few days and I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to clean them, and allow them to dry. Thank you so much for stopping by! :)
Planting A Creative Way To Keep Our German Shepherd Out Of The Flowerbeds ~ birdhouse garden

Hi Everyone! Recently, we were shopping for plants at a local garden center where they were giving out a free planter with purchase. We brought these pieces home and thought they could help deter our German Shepherd, Chief, from running through our flowerbeds. These should bring pops of purple color in a few weeks when the impatiens begin to bloom. Thank you so much for stopping by. :)
An Important Decision When Building Your Raised Garden Bed ~ birdhouse garden
zhlédnutí 1,1KPřed 2 měsíci
Hi Everyone! Oh how I've wanted to raise these garden beds. They were all originally built using cedar. Each time we've raised a bed, we used redwood. Cedar has become so expensive. This is going to make a big difference this spring and beyond. Only 1 bed left to raise now. Thank you so much for stopping by!
A Begonia Border, Variegated Lacecap Hydrangeas, and A Pink Princess Escallonia ~ birdhouse garden

Hi Everyone, I decided to switch up the border under our redwood trees. Once the Begonias fill in and begin to bloom, I think they'll be a beautiful addition to all the green in that flowerbed. Near the west side of our house, I added a few Variegated Lacecap Hydrangeas, as well as a Pink Princess Escallonia. If these grow like I'm hoping, they'll make such an impact along the ranch fencing.Tha...

    A lot of good information, but I have to say you have the most beautiful hair , never looks mess up don't know how you do it , I had a handkerchief around my head has a head band to keep the sweet out of my eyes yesterday and it was soaking week here in Kentucky and just 92 but the humidity was a killer day

I visited Louisville many years ago and it was so green. It must be because Kentucky receives lots of rain and is humid. Our heat will be here soon. We don’t have the humidity though.🌸🌿

      Thank you for such a nice compliment.😊 I’ve not had to deal with humidity or hurricanes. I can’t imagine. I’ve read that Florida has more of the fine sand beaches, which sounds beautiful. The redwoods will eventually eat your driveway and sidewalk. Also, they are planted waaaay too close to each other. Best practices are 15-20 feet apart, and as far away from any infrastructure as you can get. Their root systems tend to be as wide as the tree is tall, so in 20 years when they are 100 feet tall….well you will have figured out that they need to go long before that.

    • @birdhousegarden
      @birdhousegarden Před 9 dny

      Oh how I know.🥴 If someday we can financially swing it….. and still live here, they will be removed and replaced with a more appropriate shade tree. 🌳
