YT Capra Shred on Santa Cruz Flow Trail - Soquel Demonstration Forest
This footage is from a ride in February 2021. The trail seems like an endless series of berms, rollers, and little jumps. Such a fun ride and such a beautiful setting to ride in. Santa Cruz Flow Trail is located in Soquel Demonstration Forest and IMO is a must-ride if you are able to get there.

YT Capra Shred - Rock Garden Quickie

I haven’t posted in a while but I have been riding a lot and having a ton of fun out there with my buddies. Here is a short clip I put together with the GoPro app. I may not be the fastest but I am trying to represent the over 40 crowd that still likes to hit a rock garden every now and then. I had to slow down for a trail maintenance worker (thanks for keeping the nice for us!) but the section...
YT Capra Shred - Cruising

Just having some fun testing a different camera angle and some GoPro settings. I got the angle idea from watching Global Mountain Bike Network ' s video (czcams.com/video/bcCVnRQrrEQ/video.html). I am not too happy with the resolution of the video but I am sure that is an error on my end (settings or upload process?) as I am still getting the hang of all of this. The camera angle is pretty cool...
YT Capra Shred - Snow Summit - Party Wave

My first time back to ride Big Bear in over 20 years and the first park ride on my new YT Capra Shred 29er. I even busted out my old Dainese suit that I wore when I raced up at Big Bear back in '99-'00. We had a couple of spills and a few close calls but nobody was hurt and I can honestly say that was the most fun I have had on a bike in a very long time. It was really cool to see so many diffe...
How Well Does The YT Capra Shred Climb?
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 3 lety
My take on how well the YT Capra Shred Climbs. The first 90 seconds or so will provide some framework for my review. Then you can hear a middle aged dude try to talk and climb. Ha! I hope this helps provide the "regular guy" perspective for you. See links below for vids on general review and some Downhill footage. For some context, the fire road I was climbing has about a 22-25% grade (per the ...

Second ride on the new YT Capra Shred 29 (size XL) - first time on video. I am in love with this thing. Climbs way better than I thought it would and descends like a beast. We rode Romero Canyon in the Santa Barbara area and ran into some hikers midway through one of my favorite sections so it got cut short a bit. Romero Canyon is a half up/ half down ride with about a 1500 foot climb on fire r...
YT Capra Shred 29 Review

Took my new YT Capra Shred 29 for its first spin today. This thing was a complete game changer for me especially coming from a 10 year old Nomad 26”. I am thoroughly impressed with how the Capra Shred performed on the climb and blown away by how it performed on the downhill sections. I literally pointed it where I wanted to go and felt comfortable and confident that it would eat up anything in ...
Arroyo Burro Backside Singletrack - Santa Barbara (area) MTB

First time checking out the backside singletrack. Also the first time using a chin-mounted GoPro so the angle is not great. We rode from the trailhead across the river then up the Arroyo Burro fire road to East Camino Cielo near the Glass Factory. The drop-in to the single track is just before you reach the Glass Factory. Trail was very pretty loose, very dusty and there is plenty of Poison Oak...

Started at the SB Mission. Cut through Rocky Nook Park. Then up Tunnel Road to the trail head. There are some fun sections on this trail but you will surely run into hikers.
Arroyo Burro Frontside - Santa Barbara MTB

Such a fun trail. We climbed up the Arroyo Burro fire road from Paradise Road then dropped the front side trail to Steven's Park in Santa Barbara. The DH portion has a bit of everything - flow, switchbacks, rock gardens, and high-speed fire road sections. There is one short hike-a-bike section about midway down. One of my new favorites in the SB area.

Do we hv to ride air shocks now! Or can we use a different brand coil?
Not sure. I installed the air shock YT provided and it seems to work well. I do not notice any major difference as of yet. Check with YT to see what the options are.
Do u still hv coil???
that's fantasy, only a pro can do that, you have my admiration
Ha. Definitely not pro status over here! Really fun trail though and seemingly endless flow. Thanks
Sweeeet, good to see a new upload. Also, nice riding brother.
Thanks MTB Ohana!
@coachrz7919 where you been brother? Hope all is well.
Nice review
Thanks!
Where have been brother. Miss those uploads. Hope all is well.
Hey. I’m still around. Thanks for the message. I have been riding just not posting. I will post something soon tho. Hope you are well too.
I made mine into a Capra shred converted the 38 to coil smash pot and added 10mm travel and put dhx2 in back it’s a whole different bike now
Cool. Do you have a vid of your conversion?
@@coachrz7919 I had lone wolf suspension install it
hello, I am looking exactly for this bike (size and stuff) if you are looking forward to sell it please let me know!!
How did it climb I just got a yt Capra pro al 29 and plan to do this trail with it
I like the way it climbs. Check this video out for more of my thoughts on that topic... czcams.com/video/bEMnGyg1RNs/video.html
Very helpful!
Thanks for the review bro!
You are welcome. I keep thinking about making another review as I have put about 700 miles on the bike now. Feel free to subscribe to make sure you catch that vid and some footage of my recent trip to Santa Cruz. Thanks for watching!
Can you make a video about the rear suspension
I’ll make a bit of a Loss on the climb but on the descents Yt bikes are so good
Agreed!
does it come with tubbles?
No. It comes with tubes
Very nice. That looks small size? Is it?
Thanks. The bike is a 29” size XL
Just bought the last xxl hahahaha
Nice. What is the ETA?
Coach RZ it’s available the 28th of January so I would guess a few days from then I can’t wait I’ve been riding a hard tail trek and my booty can’t take it anymore
Nooooo. I ordered this bike and I wanted to hear it. The obnoxious music ruined this video
Ha. That’s one opinion. We use bells on our bikes where I ride so the hikers can hear us coming. If you want to hear obnoxious, wait till you here a video with just the bell clanking around. The bike is very quite and sturdy. You’ll see as soon as you get it. Otherwise, check this video out for the hub sound: czcams.com/video/FJb_Z7u76nQ/video.html Enjoy the bike.
Where is the bike from
I am not sure what you mean. The bike is from YT industries (Germany). I ordered online through the YT Mill (USA). The frame is manufactured in Taiwan (or at least that is what the box says!)
@@coachrz7919 thanks
Nice view and bike!
Thanks!
Sick video! Just subscribed and would love a subscribe back please!
I ordered a Capra Shred 29 just over 3 months ago. It should be arriving by the end of the week! Can’t wait for it to arrive! 😁😆
Oh man. I hope it arrives soon!
You mentioned you're about 210, how do you find the 450# shock spring to be for your weight? Thanks!
Works out well. I was contemplating purchasing a 400 lb spring to see how that feels. I may still do that.
In the video it looks like your bike frame is blue? Did you wrap it?
No. That is just because I messed with the color settings in the GoPro app.
how much travel does the rear shock has
170mm. More details here: us.yt-industries.com/detail/index/sArticle/2509
Sweet new upload. Dude one little slip-up and you are off in that ravine. Also, was the hiker on the side of the trail cooking something?
Thanks. Yep - I had never really noticed that until I saw the video. As you can imagine, I try not to look that way. 😬
I'm guessing you still the same way about the bike as you did when you bought it? Looks fun!
Yep. I’d like to do another review video because there are a few things I don’t like but overall this bike is great for me.
@@coachrz7919 As someone about to pull the trigger, can I ask maybe what your biggest dislike is?
@@jeff4kingable It doesn't do the dishes and it doesn't fetch him a beer when he asks ;) I would like to know too.
There’s really not that much on my list of dislikes. I’ll try to put some of them into a video but they were a couple of grommets coming loose and the dropper post and lever are definitely not that great. Other than that, the only issue I had was that the brake lines were really long and I needed to cut them down a bit. Functionally, the bike seems to be working out really well.
Do you have a long torso or long arms?
Arms more than torso
@@coachrz7919 Thanks for your reply. I have both but I'm about 5'11 3/4" and slightly thicker build, by the sounds of it. XL it is, cheers 👍
ordered mine two days ago... so stoked😍
Nice. I hope you get it soon!
Yoo brother. You haven't uploaded in awhile. Hope all is ok.
All is well here. Thanks for reaching out. I plan on doing a longer term review of the bike. I have been riding a lot tho! Thanks for reaching out! Hope all is okay with you too!
Great vid. Looking at this. Subscribed.
Thanks and thanks!
Thanks for the review! I’m shopping YT for this model and I’m not looking to save seconds in races just like you. This weighs about 3 lbs heavier than my 2015 Stumpy, but the suspension and groupset are unbeatable for the price! My only gripe about the bike (and it’s a small one) is the length of the cables/tubes on the front. Each one could be shortened up by 6-8 inches at least. It looks like a killer ride!
You are welcome. I was in a similar situation where this bike is slightly heavier than my previous bike. It did not take much time to get used to and I don’t have any negative feedback regarding the added weight as the geometry is so much better for me. I climb much better in this bike that I did in my old carbon Nomad and there is no comparison on the downhill sections. Funny you mention the cables... I have since shortened them but I had not noticed how long they were until someone commented come this similar. When I get some extra time, I will post another review to discuss my thoughts after a few months and a few hundred miles in the bike. Stay tuned.
How is the bike? Looks rad
I’m enjoying it. When I get some extra time I will post another review to discuss my thoughts after a few months of riding.
I pick mine up tomorrow can't wait
Nice. Be sure to take your time installing the derailleur hanger. The can strip easily if you don’t get it aligned just right. Enjoy the beast!
@@coachrz7919 Will do thanks.
Waiting desperately for my SHRED to be delivered ! :-×
I hope it arrives soon!
Your voice.... Must be a GTA character 😂
Ha. Busted!
Does the bike feel heavy?
Not really. I did have to get used to the longer wheelbase and how the weight is distributed differently. It’s no carbon XC or Shorter Travel Enduro bike but I am happy with the weight.
Should you buy an aluminum frame? Вecause aluminum is subject to fatigue. and it can break from heavy loads. Or I'm wrong??? Prompt
I’m no expert in that field but there is a ton of content on CZcams about it. The only fatigue I have noticed so far is in my arms and legs while I try to get into better shape! 😜
@@coachrz7919 haha 👌😀👍

Edit: I subscribed to your channel.
Thanks for the Sub. I hear you. I was fortunate to get mine pretty early on but I was struggling with the wait too and almost cancelled my order to get something different. I am glad I didn’t. I have heard that the Meta AM is a nice bike. Let me know how you like it.

Do you think the shred is worth the upgrade from a Capra AL base 29? I want the fox set up over the RS...
If you are deciding between the two of them as an original purchase, I would say the shred is worth the $1200 price difference. The fox 38 fork alone is almost $1000 retail. If you have a Capra AL base now, you can probably pick up a fork and shock upgrade and get pretty close to the shred’s set up. Of course there are other upgrades between the two. I was trying to decide between the Pro and Comp models when the shred was announced. I actually wanted a coil set up so it was the shred was a logical choice for me.
Nice camera angle and ride too, how is the 38 ride how stiff is compare to the 36?
Thanks. I have not ridden the 36 but the 38 is pretty nice. It is plush and stiff (flex).
I changed the grip to a ergon ge1 evo factory grip its night and day less arm pump now especially after a bikepark day in maribor.
