How Well Does The YT Capra Shred Climb?

- My take on how well the YT Capra Shred Climbs. The first 90 seconds or so will provide some framework for my review. Then you can hear a middle aged dude try to talk and climb. Ha! I hope this helps provide the "regular guy" perspective for you.

For some context, the fire road I was climbing has about a 22-25% grade (per the Trailforks app) right at that "one way" sign. it quickly gets back to 10% and sub 10% but that one area is pretty steep (for me). I tried to get some footage of how the shock moves (or really, how it does not move) while climbing but that did not work out too well. Ha! - Oh... The obvious comments may be based on the fact that this was all fire road and no "technical" climbing over rocks & roots. True! I have ridden this thing up more technical trails and I feel that it eats them up quite well - without bobbing.
My Take: This bike is an upgrade for me and probably would be for anyone that is considering buying one as their primary rig. It certainly does not hold me back on the climb and is a solid blend of what I am looking for - good climber and great descender. My guess is that the best upgrade most of us can make in the climbing aspect of our cycling is to increase our own strength, stamina, and technique. Bikes are so advanced now that once you get into a certain category range, you are comparing varying levels of great.

I just ordered a large at 5’8.5” looking at the geometry numbers the medium looked very small, and I was at the top of the range for a medium frame. I’m on the lower range for a large so I’m hoping it handle well for me! Super stoked to get it in November lol
I think I fell into the same ranges for the L and XL. I opted for the XL and I have been happy I did so. All preference though. I hope it works out for you. The stand-over height is going to be great on either due to the angle of the top tube. I hope your bike arrives on time or early! Thanks for watching.

@@dreamseelive I talked to the guys over at YT and they strongly recommended the medium 27.5 so I changed my order. And let me tell you I am so glad I went with medium. It fits me perfectly like a glove. If I went with a large the seatpost would have been way to long. And the fitment is just perfect everywhere. Seriously best bike I have ever rode and medium for me is spot on. No adjustments needed anywhere

Which frame protection kit you go with? I have 3m PPF wrap and was planning to do myself or buy the RideWrap pre-cut kit.

I think it was a combination of the fact that i ordered it very early, I ordered a size XL which is not as common as L and M, and some luck. Honestly, I do not know how I got it so fast. The originally posted delivery date was 26-Aug. I hope your arrives soon.

How tall are you???
Just under 6’1”. My arms are long and that was one of the deciding factors for the size XL. Fits perfect.
