Thanks for an interesting video, Steve. :) Wouldn't it be easier if you didn't have to learn both the new alphabet and the new language at the same time? Have you tried writing English in one of those different alphabets? :)

I've learned English and become fluent in it on my own, from my late teens to early twenties(Now I'm in my early thirties), without putting a lot of effort. Of course for me it was much easier since I had to learn English... And I'm from a developing country, so there isn't much good content in the internet in my native language, and I don't like the culture from here, so I had no choice... What I did was since the beginning, immersing myself, not moving to an English speaking place but on the internet. Also I changed my phone language to English. I'm always on YT, and I used subtitles to understand what people were saying in the videos. Afterwards I started to use English to write on my journal(I write my thoughts on it), and started to read in English regularly. After I became fluent I only use my native language when speaking to people around me. On the internet everything is in English. Even my thoughts are in English, and I like speaking to myself, and I do it in English. Only when counting I use the words for numbers in my native language. My English isn't perfect, but I am completely fluent and I'm pretty sure I can speak it clearly, even though I've never spoken to another English speaking person.

For some languages the beginner courses at LingQ are too difficult. It's not the vocabulary, but the length of the sentences, which makes it hard to really understand the sentence. I speak the sentences into GoogleTranslate. Of course my pronunciation is not always perfect, so I prefer shorter sentences, where I can play with the pronunciation. Somemtimes I make mistakes which I don't understand. For example I wanted to say "earning" but it was recognized as "running". And I have absolutely no idea what's wrong with my pronunciation.

I've been learning Greek for about 2 years now and then started in Arabic and messed around with some Chinese and Hindi too and noticed that even though many words are shorter than Greek, it was a lot harder to gain vocabulary like it was much harder to remember even though many Greek words have an entirely different sound than English they are still much easier to stick in my brain. Maybe that is partly due to just getting used to the language though as I've been reading in it for awhile now.

Steve will never be able to speak and understand Arabic and Turkish. He just does not have put enough time and energy to learn these languages. Learn more seriously instead of making and publishing this kind of video which is still a fun for us followers. Apart from Chinese and Japanese he learned when he was young and professionally active, all languages he knows are European languages which are easy for a native user of one of European languages. Steve is brave enough to show us a good example of those who can never complete language learning.

I deeply appreciate your content and can relate enormously, especially when dealing with learning many languages. For myself, the hardest thing for me to do is when becoming familiar with a language, however seeing the lack of importance it would serve me, and choosing to abandon said language, I feel a looming sense of letting down the people whom speak the language, so it is quite a disheartening moment. Although I have to remind myself that (especially in my lifetime) these languages are not going anywhere and will have plenty of time to learn them, with all that being said, thank you for your advice!
