As someone with chronic fatigue, I have one more point to add to this: don't exhaust yourself completely. If you do this one more thing, in the moment, you might be happy about it, but if it makes you so tired that you can't do anything the following hours/days, it's not effective.

I’m so sorry that you have CFS.
I had it for years (as well as depression, yeast overgrowth and fibromyalgia) but I got well and I’m 61. If you want to hear how, I’ll share. It’s basic things that are free or almost free. In fact, since it’s such easy things most people refuse to do them, it’s sad. Diet change is a must as well as mental (like he says here) cleanness are essential to feeling better.

For me I learned "that which taketh energy giveth back energy". I've never felt more alive than when I'm actually moving around and doing something with my body regularly. That's why I work a trade and go to the gym - I live by the motto "work hard, eat well, rest well". If you are missing one of those things in your life then it will ruin you.

The tip 4 is great in terms of exercising one's ability to focus and not get distracted. However, we should also bear in mind that the power of will is a limited resource which is getting exhausted if used too much. So if we plan to e.g. learn languages very intensively, eat healthy, be physically active etc. all in the same time it might quickly start getting really tough! The key is probably not to try to be "perfect" in everything and find time for relax too.

There's something I wanna pinpoint about your videos that I like so much, you always speak in a normal speed, I see some teachers on CZcams speaking way too slowly, and no one speak like that in real life. I'm just talking that if their students get accustomed with their pace of speaking may they will have a hard time to understand the english of real life.

Hey Steve! Thanks for the video. I was wondering if you had any advice for knowing if we have false impressions of a culture? I learned French and spent a year in Switzerland..I feel like when I speak or hear things in French it feels stressful because I haven't been exposed/nor do I know where to find what is it about Francophone cultures that Francophones love--what brings them warmth...ect. At the moment, it feels like a cold culture but I know this must be a poor impression. I was wondering if you've ever had an experience like this, and what do you recommend if so?

I am 23 and every day at 1pm-3pm (or after I eat for the first time in the day) I am tired an hour later.. it is quite annoying. Maybe this is because when I wake up I take a shower and then read in my target language.. but even before I started studying I was tired after eating.. which is annoying.. I'm VERY much a night owl, my whole family is.. so I have lots of energy at night. Even after a hard workout (a few hours later). When I started learning Portuguese (my 1st foreign language) the first year was VERY exhausting for me.. now I'm at 2 years so it's not super exhausting.. not like it was.. just a few words or a yt video would make me have to take a nap.. and I am currently reading a book in Portuguese and it's difficult so it's still beating up my brain but at the beginning when I knew nothing I almost feel like I could feel my brain making new neurons or paths or something. It was terrible.. idk if anyone else has had this experience.. but it's not like that now. Just a mass amount of reading (especially new vocabulary) does give me fatigue, but I don't NEED to take a nap after reading or watching vids anymore

I’ve used Duolingo for French and German, it’s awful. I finished Busuu French, it’s okay. I tried Busuu German, it’s not good, too grammar based. Babbel German is okay. LingQ is better than those. There may be other good apps that I’ve not tried.
