We temporarily diverted a portion of Monument Creek to restore eroded sections of the channel and protect water and wastewater pipes in the area. Along the way, we added improvements, and we're making sure to replace the wetland greenery. 🌿 More exciting news - a new pedestrian underpass and access ramp at Mesa Road bridge wil...

Thank you again for reaching out. Our team is actively looking into the situation you reported. We understand your frustration and appreciate your patience as we address this matter. - Diana
@@SpringsUtilities I really hope this is true I hate having to make negative posts .It is also why I deleted them when I thought action was being taken . Entire system needs to be evaluated not just hit and run repair tactics
Seeing results .Thank you for giving this situation the attention it deserves. I will be sending more

Can you clarify what you meant when you described natural gas as having price stability in your recent blog post? For day to day folks, the last couple years of expensive natural gas have felt like the exact opposite.

Hi! I am not able to access the vegetation removal factsheet for some reason - but I was wondering, if you are using a sod-cutter to remove the lawn, what do you mean by be thorough? Would a depth of 2" be sufficient for removing enough of the lawn grass roots?
I am sorry you are unable to access the factsheet. Is this the link you are using? www.csu.org/Documents/VegetationRemoval.pdf. - Diana

This is a wonderful historical connection! With the high winds last week, I had friends and family all over the front range suffering from prolonged power outages, but Colorado Springs was rock solid. I love bragging about how reliable and forward-thinking our municipal utilities are compared to the privately owned for-profit alternatives some of our neighbors have. The history that got us here is worth remembering <3 and celebrating!
Quick question Colorado Springs utilities why did yall shut down the Drake power?I loved that plant since I moved here
Great work skills 👍👍👍👍
Very exciting to see this. Assuming it ends up being close to $0.028 / kWh, that's a lot of locked in cheap electricity we'll have for the next ~30 years. And it' comforting to know that whatever fluctuations we see in the natural gas market will have much less of an impact on our household budgets here. We need more solar though, let's keep it up!
I don’t know if I would call that progress.
So, no more separate bill for wastewater, it's all on one bill now??? ❓❓
Hi there! Wastewater charges have always been included in the bill, but it might have appeared differently to you if you were a tenant. If you have any further questions or need clarification, feel free to reach out! - Diana

To what extent did this plant come in to play two years ago during the big freeze when natural gas prices skyrocketed? If we have this plant to help us during these times then why did CSU customers pay dearly for the big freeze?
The function of this plant is to help mitigate even higher costs during extreme winter weather conditions, but it cannot insulate us completely from having to buy on the market during peak demand weather. The bottom line, however, is we're much better off with the propane air plant than without it. Back in 2021, during winter storm Uri, we used this plant, but the unique conditions and duration of that weather event still required us to buy natural gas on the market to ensure we could meet customer demands. Uri introduced unique dynamics across the U.S. that caused natural gas market prices to skyrocket due to restrictions in supply and high demand. This meant that utilities who distribute natural gas to their customers - like us -- paid extraordinarily high fuel costs and, in turn, passed those costs on to their customers. In our case, the storm caused $144 million in unexpected expenses. The good news is that based on what we're seeing currently, we do not expect this weekend's arctic blast to have the same level of impact on natural gas markets. - Steve
Thank you Steve. I appreciate the feedback. @@SpringsUtilities

Colorado springs kindly put something logic, first if entering a confined space you must have a permit which has rescue team and standby. Fire department cannot be first on response

That's great! I do have concerns about the city's electrical grid failing from age. What is the plan to address that?
Hi Kevin, we do not yet know if age was a factor in what happened on Kiowa Street. What we do know is that it was a very unique situation and something we've rarely seen occur on our electric system. With a rapidly changing energy industry -- both from a technology and regulatory perspective -- we are actively pursuing several electric grid projects (such as substation and transmission line expansions and upgrades) to enhance the resiliency and reliability of our electric system to reflect growing demands and technological advancements. These projects are part of our Sustainable Energy Plan - www.csu.org/Pages/SustainableEnergyPlan.aspx. Additional information on how we're planning our community's energy future can be found in one of our recent blogs www.csu.org/Pages/Blog/A-quest-to-diversify-our-energy-future.aspx. - Diana

I live in Colorado springs. My water is yellow, and it tastes funny, even after filtering it. I thought it might be the water heater, but it's the same with the cold water. The water used to be good in this city, but now, not so much!
Love the information
I have a Rachio controller. How to set up this system and know how long each water cycle will run before the next cycle will run???
Great! As I'm understanding, CSU is transitioning to a combination of wind, solar, and natural gas power. Is that correct?
Shouldn't have put that eyesore in the middle of town, there is plenty of land out east for that monstrosity.

Super job CSU.
I saw your raspberry canes just about a week ago and they look lovely! I had transplanted some last year but they died. I think watering was my issue so I'll try again with a drip line.
Great documentary on the rescue procedure. But that doesn’t really make me optimistic: how long does the fire brigade need to arrive on scene and reach the victim with the SCBA? How long can you survive without oxygen? When working in a dangerous space with vertical access: always wear your harness with lanyard picked in an tripod rigged. It will safe your life!
Then you call ICE
Great information again!
I loved this and learned so much! So much inspiration! One thing I wish was to see the final finished product!! It would have been really cool to see the project finished!
