Stacks at Martin Drake Power Plant start to come down

The downtown skyline is changing! On January 22, 2024, crews started the careful removal of two stacks at the Martin Drake Power Plant. The process is slow, this is to protect the employees and the surrounding neighborhoods after abatement work inside each of the stacks has been completed. The stacks will be demolished from top to bottom over the next couple of months.
Demolition efforts at Drake started last summer. Significant progress has been made with the removal of several exterior structures.
