Chicago Blackhawks Detroit Red Wings March 29, 1981
First and third periods only, second period missing. Rookie Denis Savard is game's first star with four points. Wish I could identify Ron Bogda's frequently-played post-game song from about 1:29:24 to the end of the video.

Test upload. One of a string of Hawks' winless results to close out the 1987-88 regular season. One of the last games in the Chicago Stadium before the old hanging lights were removed. One of the last North Stars' games in road uniforms before black trim was added.

She played at white sox games.
Kitty beats mode.
Who like me thinks, "I wish the announcers would be quiet so I could hear Nancy?"
The Blackhawks won this one 10-4
It is cool seeing the Canucks in their flying V jerseys.
Thank you
Cheers to Wayne for singing this forbidden national anthem! And yet again rocking the house with the American national anthem not for the hawks!
Nicholls Larmer and Roenick the best line
Larmer was unbelievable in this game
As a kid, we had season tickets and I would frequently invite friends to attend a game. If it was their first Hawks game, I would never warn them about the anthem. But the look on their face said it all. It was unbelievable. Every. Damn. Time.
As a New York Rangers fan, I like the organ
Need to adjust the horizontal hold.
I like how the play-by-play guy doesn't know how to pronounce Ciccarelli and no one ever corrects him.
Did Ray Bourque ever take a breather?😂😂😂
Chills
Thank you for the video
Murray Bannerman had one of the coolest-looking masks in hockey.
11:06 Theme from Tommy😀
As an oilers fan Andy Moog was the reason I became a goalie
What a beautiful instrument! The United Center organ is an atrocity. It sounds like an amplified harpsichord.
If Dr. Frankenstein could’ve created a Gretzky/Savard hockey monster it would score 300 points a season.
Great video! Watching the North Stars back then was the absolute best. The difference in the size of the goalies and equipment, is so evident.
Probably the worst uniforms the White Sox ever had.
“One minit ta pleh in ta qwata
Two of the very best to play the game
Nordiques were 12-38-7 before Valeri Kamensky showed up. After, they went 8-10-5.
I was at this game as 7-year old. It was my 2nd ever NHL game. I remember Goldsworthy's 4 goals and him doing this "Goldy Shuffle" dance after each of them (not shown). He would kick a leg out and shuffle it while pumping an arm, kind of like a locomotive. I don't remember the goals WIlson (and Hodge) let in being so weak. Goalies didn't cover as much of the net back then (less padding and, on the whole, smaller in stature). But the positioning/angles on many of these goals was bad.
Ah, the glorious barber pole sweater. Al Rollins with a well deserved shutout. Surprisingly they turned Sawchuk into Swiss cheese that night. Who knew 14 years later he would steal a Cup from them.
Love the old tilts at the stadium. Chicken wire on the boards, solid red line with NO Indian head logo, hanging twine on the nets and that beautiful Bulova spinning those confusing hands.
What a gem. Great to see Bill Mosienko bulge the twine. Infamous era after the Major passed on and the Hawks were pawns in the Norris House League. The Yankees had the Kansas City A’s as their farm team and the Red Wings were plucking any Hawks with promise to the Motor City. Love the Hawks sweater. Showed up later as a base for the NJ Devils sweater minus the touch of green.
Gave me goosebumps. Freaking awesome.
You will never see rivalries like this ever again the NHL won’t allow it. This was by far the best hockey era. Teams truly hated each other. And u have Foley narrating the play by play during fights. I wish I knew at the time that it would never be the same.
Dope describes my rhymes, making all you emcees cold drop like dimes. You know MCSC is back again, and battling me on the microphone is like committing a sin. Scott the Illinois Seer/MCSC the Chicago Seer
In the 1980's, the Blackhawks used to have two long road trips every fall because the circus came to the Chicago Stadium.
I remember don cherry with the Rochester amerks
End of the game maybe???? Wtf!

Ruskowski was a goof
It was not Bob Mason's fault that he had a putrid defense in front of him.
I'm still bitter about this series to this day. Bitter and salty.
Where's footage of Peter Stastny's jersey retirement? It doesn't exist because it never happened. The Nordiques moved 2 months and 9 dsys after this. Stastny hadn't yet retired. There was no time to retire his #26.
Spent many a night with that gentleman on my Taxi radio telling me about the North stars. Thanks for the Prime memories!!
Hmmmmmmmm, is that Nancy Faust at the organ console? Obviously that's Wayne Messmer singing, isn't it?
Haven't heard that old "espn tone" at the end of the video in a long time either.
Buster Harvey!
Go Hawks
Sounds like the late Rick Jeanette Sabres announcer
As I go back into the time machine to learn about who the North Stars were, I'm learning about Al Shaver. So refreshing to hear a play-by-play announcer be critical of the team he covers. Doesn't happen anymore.
And now Danny Wirtz
“we invite you to tune in next week at the same time, as tony esposito, will tell us about the pressure of goaltending, how to play different shooters in the league, and the difficulty playing with curve sticks, and straight sticks. thanks a lot, we’ll see you next week.” man. i wish i could see that video. the only all of hockey video is the one with keith magnuson. i wish someone saved that clip so it wouldn’t be lost.
