the argument i hear from a lot of old heads in smash is that characters like meta knight and bayo where never banned, therefore steve also shouldn’t be banned. and i personally think it’s the other way around. Meta knight and bayo should’ve been banned for how broken they are. they both degraded the competitive scene by making the only viable character in the game themselves. I personally think steve was doing the same, just at a slower pace because not many people where using the glitches at their disposal.

Just give him a side b with burst movement. The best way to do it in my opinion is to turn dash attack into the triple kick from the fighter copy ability, and move the fireball to side b, acting like a discount Charzard flare blitz.

The few local tournaments I’ve been to haven’t been that bad. There was one time where they ordered McDonald’s and the food ended up stinking up the place. If they had just changed some of the special moves to be more rewarding for combo games up close, along with some minor changes to whatever other moves to make it less beneficial to run away, sonic may have been less hated. But I still think that in of itself would be a harder balance than people give credit for. Even as sonic is, their tools are perfect for this purpose but are also the very reason why sonic is played the way that they are.
