Smash reddit is such an insane echo chamber
I miss the smashboards days
It is somehow worse than smash twitter where top players abuse their popularity to create the echo chamber. Redditors are just fanatics and behave like a cult

Kinda a revolving door of getting baited by clickbait terms (as zero was cheekily using here), then feeding the outrage culture to justify getting more juicy gossip. Twitter smash, reddit smash, it's all where the cancer of the community breeds (Instead of it being a meritocracy, AKA who is actually the best player? You get the non-competitors and cultural parasites/trolls feeding into the viral gossip culture, then the pros need to pivot and respond on a dime to avoid corporate cancellation).

@@itreallybelikethatdoe829 knew a guy in highschool cross country his first race was a 45 minute 5k his senior year he was on pace with me when I was a t my best my sophomore year. The man lost about 60 pounds and got a lot happier

I wonder why people care what others earn? Why would Sparg0 even care what they say? It's not like these fans are part of his salary. At the end of the day people live off the drama that others create and they like to be part of it regardless of stressful it might be. It gives them purpose in life, which is pathetic and sad.
It's natural for sparg0 to want people to stop talking shit about him. And it's natural for sparg0 and people in general to respond because they have a strong opinion.

I don't think they understand how many hours pro players put in to be the best It's literally a job, I hope he is making good money off Smash I honestly wish all of them made more because if the the prize poles were bigger then more players would want to play and then more sponsors would come making Smash thrive, it's like Smash community on Reddit wants Smash to actually die off.
its probably a combination of those who are super skeptical of faze due to past happenings in terms of payments/salaries, as well as people who think that just because you're in tier 1 org and win tournaments means you're insanely rich, which obviously isn't the case especially with smash payouts. Spargo asking for donations to go to Japan, probably rubbed people the wrong way because they fall into either or both of the things I listed. But ultimately how much he makes shouldn't matter to people
If you grow up in a low income area with low income friends or family, someone spouting off about how you make so much money makes you stick out and it brings out the scavengers.
Sometimes those people are your childhood friends, sometimes they're your family. You can quickly get surrounded by people who think you're their meal ticket and will pressure you, make you feel ungrateful or disconnected from your own home area or friend groups just to try to get a piece of the pie they think you have.
Dealing with that as a teenager would undoubtedly be even tougher.
Hey ZeRo. Tijuana is literally on the border of San Diego. Considering Sparg0 has been able to come to SoCal tournaments since he was a kid, he definitely is able to drive across the border. Sparg0 100% flies out of SD and probably even LA and not just the TJ airport. People from SD fly out of TJ all the time and any Mexican who has enough status or money will fly out of SD if it means the flight will be cheaper.
I don't see how that makes a huge difference.
@@sarougeau it probably doesn’t. I was just clarifying the relationship between TJ and the US because ZeRo didn’t seem to know much about it. It definitely would make a difference, though. It also make a huge difference before Sparg0 was sponsored.
It makes a difference because he’s thinking of him as an international player with higher costs associated with that, and I don’t think that fully applies to someone from tijuana

Sparg0 said he has a yearly budget for travel but since he is paying double out of that budget every time he travels because one of his parents always go with him, there wasnt enough in the budget to do tournaments outside NA. Which is why he asked for people to donate for his Japan trip

Even if he was making 25k per month why should we care/think negatively of it? Like smash players making good money should be a good thing? Considering for most of smash history smash players lived off pennies. Although it probably would be good to be realistic about how much top smash players make that way people don't dump their career prospects for a shot at becoming a pro player. Competing in smash is a good hobby. But going pro should be for those with exceptional talent and dedication.
