Original video: • A Tale of Two Top Tiers i - Hry
rendering issue on this one! I feel the video basically wrapped up so no reupload as we noticed wayyy toooo late, my bad guys!
was confused as to why the video ended suddenly lol
Dang, Marth's grab range was so op that it pulled Zero mid video. Now he has to travel all the way back from pokemon stadium to continue where he left off.
ZeRo is really trying to get canceled again huh
I mean... it's just a videogame character.
Invest in a 🚿
😆
Lol y’all understand a joke right?
@@mrjohnful thank you for ratioing Jazon. ZeRo's video was a fair critique and I'm glad you reminded all of us that these are just video game characters at the end of the day, and that we should probably all touch grass
I feel most of the discussion and rhetoric about brawl you hear is from melee players so it’s super interesting to hear the perspective from someone who was actually there and competed.
Great video!
Yeah you'll hear the good and honest perspectives of Brawl from Coney too
I feel like Brawl was overall the most important game in Smash's series, and here's why:
Brawl really gave the community a springboard for new players to get into the mechanics of playing the game competitively, and the slower pace compared to Melee and arguably 64 helped with that tremendously. Furthermore, it gave us the very first third-party characters in the form of Sonic and Snake. Without Brawl, we likely would never have been able to see Ryu, Cloud, Bayonetta, and later on Steve, Kazuya, and every other third-party newcomer that arrived in the next two games. The game also gave us Subspace Emissary, which is so well-made it could've been an entire game on its own, but Sakurai was just that generous with content, ig (And it runs laps around World of Light imo, so that's a W as well). The soundtrack truly sounds like the development team gave it their all to make some of the most unforgettable, beautiful songs in Smash history. They're miles more memorable than what Smash 4 gave us, as well as still holding up when compared to Ultimate's soundtrack (which is still good, don't get me wrong, but I still feel Brawl's is better). Overall, it really helped to get a lot of beginners off the ground and into the competitive scene (including myself) and just did almost everything perfectly in my opinion.
Agree
iunno. kinda wish brawl stayed more true to melee's game mechanics but that's just me. I had so much fun on smash 64 and melee. but lost interest after brawl. i didnt even play smash 4.
I play smash ultimate but it's not nearly as fun as I had for 64 and melee.
I think they could've easily removed some unnecessarily difficult mechanics from melee going into brawl. but keeping a ton of the movement options and tech skill would've been much appreciated.
project + was such a sick game mod to brawl. it really shows me what brawl could've been.
@@DavidSchleigh Smash 4 was probably the lowest point of the series, at least for me. It just felt so damn forgettable despite the good it brought with it (introducing traditional fighters, making combos more viable, etc)
abrupt video ending xD
whats with the abrupt video end
Victory is his destiny
not merely on the tier list, but in the hearts of all who oppose him
jajaaaajaja the emojis
Tf are those emojis???
Tf are those emojis???
I feel like if we still played Brawl the meta would be way more developed to counter MK.
Nah lol
Lucas could’ve done it 💯
Doubt it.
Some people were getting there, but the game didn't get it's full chance to shine. I would've banned ICs, not MK.
Video needs to be re-uploaded. Ending is broken :(
True
You should do a video to show how brawl was actually played.
I second this!
Play Brawl with Salem!!! And play more than just MK ZSS... I wanna see Salem pull out some goofy shit seeing that he has such an immense knowledge of the niche shit random characters can do lol
I always really like your Brawl videos, because you have interesting takes as a top player when a lot of people misunderstood the game or the meta.
And most chaingrabs weren't really that bad or common, only a couple of the cast had them, and some of them were just in obscure matchups (i.e Marth vs. PK Kids or Pit vs. superheavies). Other than ICs and Pikachu vs. Fox and DDD vs. Bowser/DK, the chaingrabs were more limited and not like 0 deaths or infinites. Falco had against most of the cast, but he did like 60 only against super heavies as well.
Happy to see you finally react to this to see your perspective since you were a main of both.
The video ended so abruptly
I wanna see another going undercover in tourneys and watching the streamers reactions, those are my fav of your vids and I’d love to see another one! Love all your content, you’re awesome ZeRo!
Honestly, as I've learned more about the game, my opinion on brawl MK is pretty simple.
Brawl MK, although absolutely broken, actually had a really cool and interesting playstyle that deserved to come back.
The problem is, the mechanics of the game and the strengths of other characters (eg: Icies, biggest problem of it) forced him to use his broken tools defensively, rather than play more aggressively.
I'd loved to have seen him become more like Brawl again in Ultimate. But like, a non-broken version, y'know?
Then again, Ultimate's shields are still really strong... so..
Speaking of aggressive Meta Knights, I think his Kirby Fighters 2 (2020) rendition is really interesting. Now having an updated (and game-accurate) moveset, he actually plays pretty much how he was intended, but the more traditional nature of the KF2 engine incentivizes broken corner loops. If this version of Meta Knight was tweaked slightly and put into an actual smash game where corners didn't exist, I wonder if he would be a healthy top tier.
MK is broken but interesting. Other examples of broken or op characters have been boring, so a bit harder to like. Like I’d rather watch a MK mirror match vs a Smash 4 Bayo or Ultimate Steve mirror match
@@zentazym1 So you rather sit for 45 minutes watching Frame 2 Dair's and tornados... got it
You must like to watch paint dry as well
@@DarkFox2071 You’d rather watch 2 Steves camp for an hour? Or would you prefer two Bayos trying to get a touch of death combo off on each other
@@zentazym1 Honestly I'd even watch Ult Steve over sm4sh Bayo lmao
I only watched brawl up until the mid-end of it, around where Salem won that Apex. I don't know the differences between early brawl and late brawl, especially from when the ledge grab limit was implemented and I guess ice climbers got way more popular, I would be interested into knowing those differences.
I like this type of more analytical content, keep it up !
I love Zero talking about Brawl.
You know it's been some time since I've watched your vids, and DAMN BRO YOU WALKED INTO THE CHARACTER CREATOR OR SOMETHING DUDE, YOU LOOK FANTASTIC!
Is the vids is cut unintentionally? The ending is odd
I love it when you talk brawl, preach bruddah I still remember how fast brawl got near the end of its lifespan, its sad brawl and 4 died
I await the re-upload with the final version of the exported video with anticipation.
✨A long legacy of two characters that have done amazing things. The animation was top tier. So much effort and creativity. Everything you said Mr. Zero, well said. Be safe and well everyone. ✨😌♥
2:00 bruh the fact that they had time to run under the platform then up air lmao
IDk if you will be uploading daily but my mornings need these videos lol
You mention how Brawl's meta against meta knight was very different at the end of Brawl's life. I think the issue I see with that is at the end of Brawl's life, the damage was already done and it was too late. I guess my thinking is that it doesn't really matter how much of an issue it is at it's deathbed, the problem was it was an issue during the height of the game and when it had it's biggest player base.
Maybe Meta Knight didn't kill Brawl, but it definitely poisoned the well preventing it from being anything more.
Meta Knight never caused the problems with Brawl. Brawl caused the problems with Brawl.
I find it hilarious that the video end on that certain move.
DId something go wrong in editing ? The end cut abruptly in the middle of a sentence.
Is there more of the video? It just kind of ends without getting to the end
Brawl mk, ice Climbers, diddy kong , and olimar were so broken in brawl
at least olimar has a shitty recovery
I think you cut the video off earlier than intended?
He probs made the animations in blender, or Source Film Maker both tools / games have these character models available for download.
Same for Garry's Mod but this obviously wasnt done there they would move more like Ragdolls if this was the case.
Brawl meta knight compared to smash ultimate Steve is night and day. Meta knight had strong tools yes, however Steve breaks the game. The whole concept of phantom mlg is impossible to police and ban effectively. Love the content zero
Brawl MK is not comparable to Steve, not in results nor viability. Also the pmlg tech is not practical, and has effected 0 tournaments. The entire meta of Brawl was based around how well the the characters matched up vs metaknight, Steve isnt like that he is just super overtuned (also Steve isnt even nr. 1 in results like MK, meelee Fox or Smash 4 bayo)
@BenRoss You're only wrong about pmlg. Also I think the banned cape dip is important to mention.
Honestly, the day we'll see top players dropping their mains in favor of Steve and have a top 16 filled of them, I'll believe you. That happened with Meta Knight.
The meta was based in how to defeat him, for Steve there's even new data to counter phantom block thing.
Steve is a strong character, but hard to masterize. We only have 3 players who get consistent placements on majors with Acola, Onin and lately Jake.
Meta Knight was a character with easier elements to masterize and his effectiveness was definitely broken.
@@NesuProps guy was busted but could be countered. A bracket full of 16 Steve’s not taken any knock back sounds like a special hell to watch.
@@benross9174 Steve was nuked before he could use plmg. I absolutely believe if that and him weee unbanned it would come out in troves.
It's so interesting to hear your knowledge about brawl as i think the game is so undocumented
I was NOT ready for that abrupt ending
Me neither
Appreciate your insight into this video... thanks for sharing, yo
Was the video supposed to end that way?
why did the vid just randomly end and why is no one in the comments mentioning it
yea that confused me too
Now make "Why Steve did nothing wrong"
Incredible video review!
Jesus, that’s ZeRo!?
He lost so much weight. That’s impressive.
Good stuff ZeRo!
man I loved watching icies in brawl, it was so fun to watch
The vid cuts off in the middle of a word with no outro just so you know, assuming that's not intentional
Was really entertaining though!
I remember thinking back then that Icies were much more cancerous than Meta Knight ever was. That's the character that mostly slowed the game the game down.
Why the video end like that lol
huge glowup bro
At least Meta Knight was actually fun to play
Theres no ending!
I honestly liked the video but I hate how it perpetuates this narrative that Metaknight was the only viable character in every scenario. It really down plays the work of the people who didn't play Metaknight in brawl and worked to mix up the metagame.
One day people will recognize icies were the enemy of brawl
MY GOD DUDE! Just got curious about what had happened to you and I see this video and JESUS FUCKING CHRIST YOU LOOK GOOD MAN
this is ZeRo???? damn man i haven’t watched him in so long
Nice outro
Yeah I still think the wobbling ban was a bit obnoxious, despite how much more crazy some of the handoffs have become. As great as Slug, MOF, and others have become, there's still a major drop in IC presence which stinks because it's one of my favorite characters to watch
If we were to strike a balance I would say you get 3 wobbles (anything above 30%) and doing so would require the Popo to kill Nana and ride out the rest of the stock as Sopo. It'd need more refining naturally to avoid exploitation, but there would be some risk/reward. Do you blow them early to get a leg up on the opponent or save them for later and attempt to handoff until then?
I mean, ultimate fixed them. They can still desync combos because that was meant to be their kit, but no more wobbling and zero to death chain grabs, which was their problem in both melee and brawl.
Great video
MK was a problem, especially in low and mid levels of play. he was just unfun in casual play as well. Ice Climbers were similar, but at least you can't wobble casually
You look good zero
I don't exactly know why we started to do character bans now.
Smash has always had broken characters, Kirby and Pikachu in 64, Fox in Melee, Meta Knight in Brawl, Bayonetta in Smash 4. Now we have two characters that are being brought up in ban talks, Steve and Kazuya.
People will just use the argument that they were absurdly broken. All of those characters I mentioned previous from the previous games were broken, they weren't banned.
Oh zero
You know what yeah I think we should unban meta knight now to save the brawl community
Of course you jump into the defense of MK
Victim of his own success
Meta is the best regurdless of what you say solo because the rules of the game were changed.
Ledge limit had to be added because he completely breaks it
Brawl was brutal
Bayo is the worst top tier
Hi. I comment to help.
I feel that when I watched tow Meta Knights, I was no longer watching Brawl. And it was fun to watch. Seeing two characters being aggressive to each other in Brawl wasn't normal for me.
Awkward cut off?
Why ZeRo Did Everything Wrong
Meta nuts
I never thought that Smash Ultimate would have the most broken smash character of all time.
STEVE
Meta knight is big brained
brawl shouldve been the main smash game ngl
There are 2 different types of players. The ones that think smash even when played competitively should be fun, and people who believe fun is irrelevant. Neither are wrong in my opinion.
Ban shine for better Melee
Melee would have died in 2002 if there was no shine. I don't even play spacies and I acknowledge this fact.
No
Not even close stop 🧢
Metaknight? More like MegaYikes
First
repent and trust in Jesus you will be saved
Metaknight is overrated in brawl
