Installing a RPM 6 point Roll Bar in a Saturn Sky
Been a long time since I posted last. More videos to come. In this video I take you through the process of installing an RPM Roll bar into a Saturn Sky Redline. Should be mostly identical for a Solstice.
I have another video around dash removal and carpet removal on the channel as well.
Here is RPM's website if you want to check out the bar.

Lexus LS400 Tilt Power Steering Fix
zhlédnutí 5KPřed rokem
Been a while since I've posted. Lots going on. Picked up a new car, had a small problem. In this video I'll show how to replace the motor in a 2nd Gen Facelift LS400 for tilt steering as well as how you can adjust manually if you don't want to replace the motor.
Episode Twenty Six - Everyone else is doing a fleet tour. So am I.
zhlédnutí 56Před 2 lety
It's my one year anniversary of starting this channel, so I figured it was time to walk through the fleet a bit and share the various cars I've got. If there is one you'd like to see more about (review, work on it, mod it), let me know in the comments!
Episode Twenty Five - Swapping a T5 into a 1986 Fox Body Mustang (Pt 2)
zhlédnutí 50Před 2 lety
This time we put it all back together. And spill more fluid. And drop stuff.
Episode Twenty Four - Swapping a T5 into a 1986 Fox Body Mustang (Pt 1)
zhlédnutí 128Před 2 lety
A few years ago I bought a Fox Body for a great price that had been sitting without some love. I brought it back to life before I started the channel, but I always hated the AOD. In this video we unbox all the parts and take everything apart in preparation to install the 5 speed.
Quick Tips - Install/Remove a fuel pump in a Saturn Sky
zhlédnutí 5KPřed 2 lety
In this video I take a fuel pump out of a Saturn Sky. Should be identical for a Pontiac Solstice.
Episode Twenty Three - Building Custom Water/Oil temp/pressure gauges
zhlédnutí 491Před 2 lety
In this episode, we fix a noticeable problem with the Sky - it really doesn't have any useful gauges other than a fuel level and tach. Here are the fittings I used to build all this: Block oil galley - 12x1.75mm to -4AN Coolant/oil sensor extension - 1/8"-27NPT Coolant sensor T - M12x1.5mm with 1/8" NPT tap Oil drain to sensor extension - Autometer 2278
Episode Twenty Two - Installing a performance radiator into the Sky
zhlédnutí 206Před 2 lety
Since the goal of this car is track use, I wanted to make sure cooling was where it needed to be. This is the process of removing/swapping out the radiator on the car with a 3" core radiator.
Episode Twenty One - Fixing a fender
zhlédnutí 701Před 3 lety
I promise this isn't another guitar bait and switch. One of the other flaws from the beautiful Copart purchase was the rocker/fender being pretty wrecked. In this episode I decided to figure out how to do fiberglass patching with no prior experience. It doesn't look good, but it is strong.
Episode Twenty - De-chroming Sky Trim and some track time
zhlédnutí 432Před 3 lety
I was able to get out to the track...but not in the car I wanted. Also in this video, I walk through the process of removing, painting, and replacing the front chrome trim on the Sky.
Quick Tips - Replacing Rear Grand Cherokee WK Rusted Brake Rotors
zhlédnutí 109Před 3 lety
I was helping out the GF with her car doing a simple brake job. It ended up not being so simple. I figure a few other folks out there with WK chassis cars might find this useful if you live in the rust belt.
Episode Nineteen - Installing a catch can in a Saturn Sky Redline
zhlédnutí 2,4KPřed 3 lety
I had a broken breather valve intake from the factory, so when I fixed it I decided to throw a catch can on too. It is just a cheap-o eBay catch can that was ~$20, but is pretty nice other than the hose that comes with it.
Episode Eighteen - Saturn Sky Exhaust removal, cleaning the mud from the underbody trays.
zhlédnutí 1,3KPřed 3 lety
I noticed some oil leaking and couldn't tell if it was residual from the oil change or from an actual leak. While I was at it, I cut off the muffler. Race car.
Quick Tips - Upgrading e39 M5 Cupholders on the cheap!
zhlédnutí 886Před 3 lety
Anyone that has an e39 loves the car, but there is a fatal flaw in the cupholders...they are god awful. With a few bucks and about 10 minutes of your time, you can upgrade them quickly without a giant eye sore in an otherwise beautiful car. Here are the cupholders I used in this video: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009IKAARQ
Episode Seventeen - Installing an NRG quick release hub with a MOMO Race Wheel

I have the same model year Lexus, and this job took me about an hour as a relative novice. Your video was very useful and the steps very clear. The only issue I ended up having was a bit of slop in the steering after initial install due to missing what seem like nylon bushings that fit into the holes that the 6MM threaded bolts go into on the tilt motor. Once those were installed, the wheel is as firm as it was previously (which is to say, very firmly in place). I had purchased a new tilt motor from ebay, and swapped both c-clips from the original motor, as well as the seemingly nylon bushings. Great video. Thank you for showing all of the angles of this job and the issues you ran into personally. If ever do a video on the fixing the electronic door locks, I'll definitely be watching!

Great video. Unfortunately, I have a 95 LS400. Those motors are even harder to find. Had to get one from the junkyard because I refuse to pay $700 for a new one. It now only works on cold days, or about 30 mins after the car has been running with the AC on. Before those 30 mins, it may move a quarter of a centimeter and then just stops. Drives me nuts for the tilt to work as I pull into my driveway from work.

I have a 96, and the motor was getting tired. I removed the motor, ( telescoping out fully gives room for easy access, just remove the negative battery terminal when fully out).I'm in Panama, and the motor was re-brushed for $15. Any shop working on small dc motors can fix these easily. The motors are almost identical to many power window motors.

I have a 2007 Solstice GXP, And absolutely love the car as I've always wanted one. But the one thing about this car that relates your video is the danger of a roll over...there is nothing above your head except 3000 pounds if it flips, and nothing in between... Too bad someone didn't make a Bolt on bar that was much simpler but attached to the back where the seats are , so that there's something at least that will prevent the top of your head from impacting the ground, and well leading to a most unfortunate circumstance

This video is helping me immensely! I actually have a rare situation in which buttresses work fine and I can hear everything trying to release but I could not release the trunk lid itself. I used the method of reaching in and pulling the safety. Heard a pop expected to see the lid lifting but nothing. Finally got in by removing panel behind seats drilling hole and tripping the latch. Main cable was broken off the latch. But when I hit the remote that cable doesn’t move at all. Even though it broke away shouldn’t I see it retract?

    • @ihavemadeahugemistake
      @ihavemadeahugemistake Před rokem

Can you hear the motor working? In my case I know the motor problem was somewhere in between the button and the motor (probably BCM) because my button tests fine and the motor works fine, but pressing the button never actuates the motor. There are also two lines and two motors - one for the buttresses to release and one for the trunk itself. The buttress line is pretty darn tight, I had to put a custom handle on it to be able to pull it by hand. Trunk release is relatively light by comparison and I could just use my fingers on the cable to get it popped.

Great Video. I have a question that is very similar to what you are experiencing and I need to be sure I’m going in the right direction. I’m experiencing the same thing so I picked up a used clock spring and cleared codes and my horn was restored , radio steering wheel volume button started I wasn’t able to test the cruise control, but after a few hours it stopped working again so I bought a new clock spring and it didn’t resolve the issue. In the past when things worked correctly everything was illuminated such as wiper handle it still works but doesn’t illuminate at night , the cruise control handle doesn’t illuminate or function. The turn signal works but doesn’t illuminate, the steering shifter, radio volume button and other steering wheel function don’t work should I be looking at something else being the issue like steering wheel sensor functions

    • @ihavemadeahugemistake
      @ihavemadeahugemistake Před 2 lety

So I ran into something similar. Turns out I had both the clock spring AND the steering wheel control computer went bad in my car. It is the little black box that everything plugs into in the video inside the wheel behind the airbag. I also thought I was being smart and bought a less expensive used 745 computer that looked identical and had the same inputs/wire layout, but it wasn't coded for my heated steering wheel and a few other things so they just stopped working until I found a true e66 760 one.
