- In this video we move the car by hand and then dig into our trunk. The mechanism for these trunks isn't exactly the most efficient in the world when the electronics don't work.

It’s the glove box trunk release button
The Solstice looks like a bug. The Sky is absolutely beautiful.
actuator is behind the driver seat. You have to access it from the trunk by detaching the top from the vehicle. It is easier to just unbolt the whole top and take it off frame and all. Gets it out of the way.
It's not actually a Saturn. It's an opal from Belgium
When you tried to get that in there all I could think of was you are going to do your back in... hope its ok. Perhaps try some pulleys next time? Or even a decent sized ratchet strap, slow but might work.
Lifting with the legs is rule #1 of getting non working cars into the garage.
This video is helping me immensely! I actually have a rare situation in which buttresses work fine and I can hear everything trying to release but I could not release the trunk lid itself. I used the method of reaching in and pulling the safety. Heard a pop expected to see the lid lifting but nothing. Finally got in by removing panel behind seats drilling hole and tripping the latch. Main cable was broken off the latch. But when I hit the remote that cable doesn’t move at all. Even though it broke away shouldn’t I see it retract?
Can you hear the motor working? In my case I know the motor problem was somewhere in between the button and the motor (probably BCM) because my button tests fine and the motor works fine, but pressing the button never actuates the motor. There are also two lines and two motors - one for the buttresses to release and one for the trunk itself. The buttress line is pretty darn tight, I had to put a custom handle on it to be able to pull it by hand. Trunk release is relatively light by comparison and I could just use my fingers on the cable to get it popped.
@@ihavemadeahugemistake yes my glove box button works and the keyfob both activate I can hear everything but if just the truck actuator is dead I’m not sure I’d notice that.
Great videos. You should check to make sure the trunk release button in the glove box is working properly. They are known to fail in these cars. Lots of good info at skyroadster.com.
I never even thought to check the button itself. Good tip, I’ll give it a try.
Do you have a part number for the switch?
It’s usually just the button in the glove compartment
The electronics were fried for the actuator/button. I was able to verify that the servos themselves did work and the button had good continuity, but something in between was broken. Given that it is a race car, I fixed it in the most efficient and simultaneously ugly way possible.
Ever get it to work?
Giving that it is just a race car, I cut a hole in the wall between the trunk/cabin, ran the cable through, and attached a pull cord. Works great :)
bad button, not the BCM
slow down ..and back up...remove the glove box and ck the switch.could be disconnected....
I did test the switch first before digging further. Switch tested fine.
