  • We take a departure from the Sky this week and fix my winter daily driver. Much like the Sky, this car could potentially be a giant mistake at some point, but as of the release of this video it is holding up pretty well.
I used this video to get some "behind the scenes" info before I dove into this project. You probably don't need to check it out if you watch through this, but it gives you a bench idea of what the column looks like out of the car.

Great Video. I have a question that is very similar to what you are experiencing and I need to be sure I’m going in the right direction. I’m experiencing the same thing so I picked up a used clock spring and cleared codes and my horn was restored , radio steering wheel volume button started I wasn’t able to test the cruise control, but after a few hours it stopped working again so I bought a new clock spring and it didn’t resolve the issue. In the past when things worked correctly everything was illuminated such as wiper handle it still works but doesn’t illuminate at night , the cruise control handle doesn’t illuminate or function. The turn signal works but doesn’t illuminate, the steering shifter, radio volume button and other steering wheel function don’t work should I be looking at something else being the issue like steering wheel sensor functions

So I ran into something similar. Turns out I had both the clock spring AND the steering wheel control computer went bad in my car. It is the little black box that everything plugs into in the video inside the wheel behind the airbag. I also thought I was being smart and bought a less expensive used 745 computer that looked identical and had the same inputs/wire layout, but it wasn't coded for my heated steering wheel and a few other things so they just stopped working until I found a true e66 760 one.

@@trem136 You can see it really well @4:45, it is the black box with the green plug going into it.

@@ihavemadeahugemistake yes that’s the steering wheel column control module. Once I reset used clock spring it restored volume control, the horn . What do you think caused it go back to not working after a few hours
