The absurdity of Carlos Sainz's 2025 F1 dilemma
Imagine you’re a frontrunning F1 driver. You’re racing for Ferrari, you’re the only driver other than Max Verstappen to have won a grand prix in the past 18 months and you’re in the form of your life.
Yet somehow, you don’t have a seat for 2025. And there’s every chance you’ll have to drop down the grid next year.
That’s all because Ferrari has made the completely understandable decision to sign Lewis Hamilton, a shock move that is the primary reason for Carlos Sainz being in this absurd situation. But it’s not the only bizarre factor.
It’s almost inconceivable that the 29-year-old wouldn’t have a place on the grid next year, although it is possible. But the big question is whether the place he is likely to get is in keeping with the status and performance level of a driver who you would expect to be a dead cert for a top drive.

Why at least one Red Bull F1 driver is getting dropped
zhlédnutí 328KPřed dnem
Five into three just won’t go in the fight to land Red Bull F1 seats in 2025, and within that equation is the inevitable outcome that one current Red Bull driver will be dropped this year. Sainz has had many chances; RedBull, Ferrari, etc. maybe he’s worn out his welcome. Seems he’s doing a Perez, driving wheels off the car in his last year, but fairly unremarkable before SLH was signed to Ferrari. Maybe he felt his seat was safe until it wasn’t . Also maybe LeClerc has a better team dynamic than moody Carlos . That Alonzo energy can be a burden.

Marko doesn't know what Audi has offered Sainz, the old talking out of his ass fool is just guessing. And for the fools calling for Lawrence Stroll to drop his son, why the fuck would he do that? The team is making money in this F1 era, the team is secure. He is enjoying his life with his son, that's more important than anything else, and neither is his son embarrassing the team. Lance is performing at an acceptable level, there is no reason to drop him.

So I agree this was not a very exciting adrenaline filled race. However this is the first of something and typically when there’s a first or something, it’s a little lackluster and it leaves room for improvement so let’s not forget that a year or three years this could be evolving into something absolutely crazy.

Are the AI systems built to rely mainly on optical data??? F1 Drivers have been seen meditating to visualise and familiarise themselves with the courses before they even run them. They should be designed with an intricate knowledge of the courses before the races- because the reaction time from visual data capturing and processing to data interpolation is far too slow for these machines based upon visual data alone. 2:09:30 That's why one machine crashed out and another had a near miss. The reaction time is far too slow for these hairpin turns. If the machine was expecting the turn, it could optimise its run and begin the manoeuvre before it "sees" the turn.

I reckon red bull will string him along in the hope that he will miss out on a good seat elsewhere (prevents him from becoming a threat). The same reason they won't let checo go. Also, Bottas qualified for the gravel cycling world cup yesterday, I wonder if it will prompt his retirement from F1.

Good analysis. The graphic introduced at 6:37 is confusing, however. Most of the teams are shown having worse performance in 2024 (compared to 2023, presumably? It doesn't say.). For example Alpine appears to have about 2% worse performance in 2024, according to the scale at the left hand side of the graphic. But each individual bar in the graph is labelled 100.xxx%, or 101.xxx%, implying that the 2024 performance is very slightly *higher* in 2024. That doesn't make sense.
