I’m sorry ottr, I love and respect you as a content creator, but you said nukes way too many times brother. I’m sorry they left you that amount of scaring to make your entire point based around that idea, but they aren’t in the game anymore. There really is no reason to even talk about them. if they didn’t reign as long as they did, you probably would’ve brought up a point about the second longest/biggest issue there was in the game. I really do believe that the devs do know where they are going with it and what they are doing, but all you care about is the top level of it. You realize you did the throwing knife to diamond right?

23:25 Absolutely agree. You can "goof off" in those modes all day, but they don't mean anything. Because everyone else is goofing off, too. I was extremely dissatisfied with this game's multiplayer until I started playing ranked. Anything else is a waste of time.

Probably a bad take but one ive thought for a while is that the modes should all go 5v5 and ranked should be a various game modes (to be more like a game show, and because they removed the unranked tournament so having a ranked mode that is seperate from a practicable casual mode will lead to balance desparity) lights have value they just don't give their value into the ranked mode that we have while you won't be able to balance around 5 game modes if every mode adds a value to a role the comps will become more varied.

This game is FAR from balanced, but I'm not sure that's not what the developer wants.

I mean the guy is right to extent of skill matters if u can reach the “im a god stage” but I do agree with the light needs to be brought back into some high level gameplay instead of having MMH and HHM. Personally I don’t know ho they could do that but my top idea would be faster health regen bc when I used to play light I would find myself waiting for so long to heal and not being able to fight back.

I mean the developers can balance the game the way they want but it's more about how they approach a problem like heavy is OP and you could nerf heavy or buff medium and light but this is a bad example as it is predictable that they would do the one with less work being the nerf.

I'd say that because the TTK spread is so wide, both across weapons and classes, that it has the appearance of being unbalanced to people coming from other tighter games. People aren't used to having to pick their engagements so carefully.

I think you nailed it on the head by saying this video is not for you and you are not the target audience. Nukes were terrible for comp players that wanted a streamlined and "balanced" experience, but nukes were SO much fun for casual players that just wanted to have fun and blow stuff up. Were nukes "balanced"? No. But is that a bad thing? Absolutely not for casual players. It's the equivalent of the tank in BF example he gave. Comp should be it's own thing and be balanced differently.

From my own personal experience, switching from light to either medium or heavy. Just makes the game easier. I put in half the effort i would have to put in on light to do well.

When I watched the Rockhound video I was like, OK - sure, the game doesn't feel too bad most of the time. I generally feel like my own bad decision / aim were responsible for my losses. And it can be hard as a player to separate dying to a skill play from dying because of an imbalance. But you make some good points. I'd like to subscribe to your "balance to the comp elites and the rest will fall in line" newsletter. But I also don't think it's that easy. 2 issues come to mind. A) Weapons play differently at different skill levels. For instance flamethrower. It is a throw in high (or even mid, where I live) ranked, but it can rack up easy kills in lower skill lobbies. If you balance it until it gets traction in ranked, it will absolutely terrorize lower skill lobbies. People would rage. B) As you said, high ranked players will take any advantage. So as soon as a new build / weapon is 1% better, the meta will start to flip. So balancing at that tier is like balancing on a pin head. I think they need to create a new self-balancing game mode, and gather data from it. Every item gets an effectiveness scaler, so if something is a little underused it's +2% aim assist. If it's way underused it's +5% aim assist and +1 damage. Heal beam is everywhere? It barely heals. Mesh shield hits 70% heavy usage rate? Health drops by 30% and 10% slower charge. And so on. These modifiers update in real time based on usage stats. So each player would look at the modifiers and pick based on what they think will give them the best advantage at the time. Then Embark can look at the usage stats and see how they ebb and flow as things get buffed and debuffed. With enough data it should give them a sense of where the gear sort of breaks even relative to other gear. Then they can tune accordingly.

No, I actually do think this applies to streamers because you know who says they can't hear stealth streamers who are probably always on discord and talking to chat. Maybe you'd be able to hear something if you weren't doing what you were doing not necessarily this guy but any streamers that might have that point in general I'm not saying someone can't stream or shouldn't and play games, but you have to be cognizant of the fact that is taking up your attention and your situation and feedback is thus different than another person's The finals is themed to be about the highest echelons of competition in those high echelons of competition people aren't worrying about chat and the heinous things it is saying I'm sure some people have the mental capability to do both comfortably, but I'm also sure that some people don't and therefore take it out on the game or balance because their full attention wasn't given to the game but they don't recognize that.dog s*** streamers are not only dog s*** but have a voice bigger than a normal person's I can't imagine something like those stealth Nerfs happening because of just normal people's feedback leading to a much higher potentiality for harm

saying skill issue is not a argument. balance can not be perfect but it isnt a excuse to do a awful job. the backstab knife and the mgl grenade launcher got nerfed to the ground after the open beta. why? what was the need for that? no one was dominating leader boards with those weapons, so why make they even worse than they already were? does embark simply dont want to see people using these? then why put them in the game? as of now they arent really weapons anymore, they are gimmicks, something you pull to do a little funny wunny and that it, they are completely obsolete, playing with they is painful. that is not a skill issue, thats bad game balancing. those are just 2 examples but there are so many others they are ex bf devs and it shows, at how completely incapable at understanding their own game that is. there is so many absolutely broke stuff in bf that you cant help but think how tf was anyone capable of looking at this and saying "yeah, this is fair, this plane that rains bombs that can cover a entire flag, being capable of killing more than 10 players in a single run is perfectly balanced" i love this game, i just wish i could play with all it offers without being punished for it

I think saying everything is balanced in this game because everything has a counter is not a valid argument BECAUSE of the fact you can’t change your loadout AT ALL. like only light builds have emps and can disable shields. But without that other teams can abuse shields. And if you want to counter them mid game… you can’t. That’s one example but there are many examples like this.

There needs to be a methodology established for analyzing balance. How much do you look at the pro players and what they do? How much do you observe skill gaps and attribute outcomes to the player idiosyncrasies? Embark's method seems to be slow and employ lots of data... No clue how else they come to the conclusion to nerf the revolver's range in the middle of the nuke apocalypse. But also we don't have the data Embark has. There needs to be an objective methodology here, or else people will cite pro players all congregating on a single playstyle against pro lights pub-stomping silver HHM lobbies and no progress will be made.

Unpopular opinion... the lazer guns need to come down in power or implicit accuracy. namely Ak, fscar, and lewis gun. Do that and everything else will feel so much better Lights are nearly completely obsolete because these guns are too easy to use while applying 150 damage. Every other non light weapon in the game just doesnt apply the dps to compete (maybe flame thrower which is conditional). The current metas make this glaring

It took 4 months to remove nukes because it was a unique feature of the game and it was always the case that shooting the canister or hitting it with a grenade would wipe their team instead of them wiping you. I played during the open beta, tried full range nukes out on light and heavy, and ended up rarely using them. During that same time the stun gun completely shut you down and the healing beam, turret, and defibs were stronger than they are today. You had to be schizo no matter what class you were playing so long as your enemies were using more than just their guns, and for the most part I liked it. I would describe it as gloriously unbalanced.

I can tell your one of those light / medium die hards who think heavy needs massive nerfs because all of light and medium guns are broken minus the knives and knife
