Would your opinion change at all if the price point was $106? Found them on sale.
$106 is a great deal and definitely ups that value! I still wish the midsole was a little softer in the upper fitment was a little more secure. That said, I can't think of another shoe that is in that $100 price range that I'd want. Hope this helps.
I was hoping they fixed the super obtrusive tongue stitching point in the shoe that rubs into the forefoot. But it seems this doesn't affect many people. Most Topos unfortunately are suffering from this.
Appreciate you checking out the video! That tongue stitching never affected me so I never thought to mention it. Thank you for the feedback!
Thanks for the fine review. What about stability? Do you think this shoe would be good for pronators, for example?
Thank you! It has a nice wide platform which does help keep things stable but it's technically not a stability shoe by any means. I think it would be just fine for light pronators.
Would love to see a comparison video vs the Petzl Swift RL 1100.
Noted! Thanks for the feedback.
I have the Flow and they are really comfortable. I’d like to get the Wild in a 13 but concerned they may be too small.
The FWD Experience and Experience Flow are basically the same shoe, with the Wild having a familiarity to the FWD/Flow but for the trails. I found the Wild to be a good shoe but not very memorable or inspiring. Anyways, thanks for checking out the video!
Appreciate you taking the time to do a demo. Thank you 🌞 ❤

Been loving the Timp 5 so far. Came from the 2 and 3 version.
There's definitely a lot to like about the shoe. I've seen it on quite a few feet of some other Ultra runners as well. Thanks for checking out the video!
Watching after the live. In Australia. Very interested in your thoughts on the Topo spector 2. Im a big topo fan
Welcome from Australia!
Hi Chad, What’s your experience with the most recent firmware update (July 2024)? Did battery life and OHR precision improve, as advertised? Anything else? Keep up the good work! Gus
Thank you so much! I didn't notice a change in the heart rate after the firmware update. For me, the heart rate data is at least consistent enough that I can take it for when it's worth. Now, many months later, I'm still very happy with my purchase.
Really good review👍🏻
Thank you my friend!
Hi Chad, what would you consider to be your top 3 trail shoes of 2024 so far?
That's a solid question! So far I would say the VJ MAXx2, Salomon Genesis, and Topo MTN Racer 3. That's not to say that I haven't enjoyed the Mammut Saentis TR. I like each of them for different reasons... The VJ is simply a fun and fast shoe to run in, the Salomon is a solid and reliable do it all trail shoe, and the Topo is comfortable and what I would want on my feet during an all day (and night) endeavor. I should be getting the Hoka Speedgoat 6 and Brooks Catamount 3 so looking forward to seeing how those fare on the trails too.
All I know is that the hiker version should remove the excessive widening of the heel on the outsole because when you walk you walk much more with heelstrike and this makes the outsole cave into your heel and start to cause some real problems for people. I have personal experience with this, having hiked a 350 km (217,5 miles) hike with them and hearing the same story from other hikers.
Where did you guys start at?
We started at the 4th of July trailhead.
Hey there, Chad!I have a question regarding Altra's that I'm hoping you can help me with: I purchased ALTRA Women's AL0A82CS Lone Peak 7 Trail Running Shoe because I'm so in love with my first pair of Altra's which I am in love with. I feel like I'm squishing into marshmallow with every step, Happy Feet they make me want to run and dance. However, this new pair is nothing like them. They are just normal. Do you understand what I'm referring to? Which style's have this 'walking on cloud 9' feel? I need to return the new ones, they are great shoes, but nothing like my dirty old pair.
I haven't tried the Lone Peaks yet, but the Olympus series is definitely the softest/cushioned of the bunch. I found the Olympus 6 to be very comfortable but a little heavy for running. Hope that helps and thanks for watching the video!
Great video! Enjoyed see Indian Peaks area again; been many years since I've been up there. Looks like you guys all are good at climbing and rock scrambling :) With aging, I no longer have the balance, flexibility and agility to do anything that technical and steep. I can still be on rocks and some technical stuff but need to be careful. What shoes were you wearing?
I'm glad you like the video! It certainly is a beautiful area and one that I hope to return to explore more of. I was wearing the Salomon Genesis, which did great on the varying terrain/rocks.
Great video. Im new here. I just changed from Altra to topo. So far so good. Im recovering from kidney stone surgery, so im doing a lot of walking to put muscle mass back on. Thanks.
Welcome! Best of luck as you recover and rebuild!!!
I wonder if this is the evolution of the Craft Pro Endur, which is what I currently have. Based on the specs, they're quite similar. I really like the Craft Pro Endur and this might be a good replacement for it when the time comes.
It's my understanding that this is the new pro version of the shoe... Without looking, I'm pretty sure the insole still has the pro labeling.
@@SeeChadRun, yeah, I saw a review of the Endurance 2 from the BITR site and they confirmed that it's the new version of the Pro Endur. Thanks!
Thank you for the review. If you have tried them, how would you compare with the Inov8 Trailfly Ultra 270 v2 or the Scarpa Spin 2.0? I like a nice flexible, low to the ground shoe for my long distance runs and ultras, and have many, many miles in the Trailfly. Wondering if I should try something else? :)
I haven't tried the INOV8 270v2's or Scarpa Spin 2.0. They look to be similar thought. I have a friend who ran many ultras, even Big Horn 100 in the 270's. Sounds like I need to reach out to those companies for some shoes to review ;-) Thanks for checking out the video!
Sounds like a great buy! How many miles did you get in them before you started to feel foot fatigue? Think it’s good for distances up to 20 miles or is it ideal for shorter distances?
The foot fatigue was more due to feeling the rocks underfoot. For me, I started to feel it after 8 to 10 miles but depending on the trail, that "fatigue" from being over stimulated may never happen, particularly on less technical and more groomed trails. All that said, I personally wouldn't hesitate to do a 20 mile run in these, especially if you're looking for a shoe that allows your foot to move around more naturally.
Indian Peaks Wilderness looks like a beautiful area. Like Taylor, I got into trail running just to be able to see more beauty in the same amount of time. I used to just hike exclusively and then I thought "If I run through this I'll get to see more of it" and that's what I've been doing ever since.
Thank you for sharing! It's truly amazing both this area and what our bodies are capable of. I love trail running and exploring more through that means. Hiking is great too though 🙂 I appreciate the comment and for you checking out the video!
That was an amazing trip! For clarity, I’m not referring to @tbromedia’s ankle roll. Thanks for sharing the miles and adventure.
Watching that ankle roll makes me cringe every time! Definitely an epic run and scramble 💪
Nice work! Cool to see the traverse. This is the best TH/area in the Front Range. I was up there yesterday (7.7), started at Hessie and did s. Arapaho on a 25mi route. The view from the cliff edge between Lake Dorothy and Caribou Pass is top tier CO
Sounds like your route was epic! It's beautiful out there and I hope to run more of it soon. Thanks for watching the video!
Some sweet views! I bet you’ll remember that birthday run for awhile!
Oh yah! It was epic!
Just ordered a pair. I was looking at the Traverse or MTN Racers 3 at first because I am planning on backcountry backpacking, but the quick-drying features compared to the Racers 3 are a big feature, and the Traverse are out-of-stock! We'll see if the comfyness and quick-dry features are enough. They appear to be from these reviews!
Let me know how they work out for you! I do also like the MTN Racer 3 shoes and think they would be just fine for water crossings. I'll be using these (MTN Racer 3) for my up-and-coming 100 mile trail race. Thanks for checking out the video!
@SeeChadRun most reviews I've seen say the MTN Racers 3 are great EXCEPT for the very poor drying. The sole and the fabric become water-logged, and they take longer to dry, like 1+ days.
@TelosBudo the Pursuit 2 insole is much better with water (it doesn't hold on to water at all). The uppers on both drain water very well.
Absolutely spectacular! Traversing ridge lines is just next level! Nice job!
Thank you my friend! Appreciate the positive comment and for watching the video!
Loved the video and love this area so much! I got married at Lake Dorothy at the end of June and ran up to south Arapaho/old baldy the next morning. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Congratulations! It is a beautiful area and I hope to explore more of it one day soon. Appreciate you checking out the video!
Absolutely loved this video! Had me smiling ear to ear the entire time!! So good to get out with you! Great Runventure!!!

Thanks for the review. As a long distance hiker i (and many others) have used the Olympus in all its iterations extensively. The issue of weight is interesting as, in the hiking world, its a lot lighter than boots which are the only real alternative. The comfort and grip are second to none and the lightness of the shoe means you can hike for way longer than in a boot. Regarding quality, i would agree that this has declined, especially in the last iteration. Im also annoyed at the quality and length of the laces which seem to have gotten shorter for some reason. Additionally, the Olympus 5 durability was poor, especially when the midsole meets the upper which is why maybe they have put some more reinforcement into that. Anyway, gripes aside, i will buy them as there is nothing else, at a zero drop that comes anywhere near it... unless you know better??
I appreciate your comments and feedback! The Topo Ultraventure 3 is the closest thing that I can think of, but it has a 5 mm drop.
Great review! Can i carry my keys, phone, 2 gels, 2 protein bars and a 500ml salomon flask with it? Do you think there is enough storage for those?
You probably can but it might be reaching the limits of the belt. The soft flask can fit in the front, the phone can fit in the back, the two gels and car keys on one side and two protein bars on the other side.
Kept waiting for you to show the back of the shoe so I could see the size of the gator trap. They seemed to half the size of it from the version 4 to the 5 and wandered if they went even smaller with the 6. Was disappointed to hear they didn't improve heel lock which is what I hated about the 5 vs. 4. Oh well, guess it's a waiting game to see if they improve heel lock on v. 7. Thanks for the review!
I try to capture b-roll of every angle/side of the shoe but I guess I forgot to get a specific shot of the back. I apologize for that. Appreciate you checking out the video nonetheless!
Any ideas on securing the drink tube for the bladder?
You can run the drink tube behind the stash pockets on either side of the shoulder straps.
@@SeeChadRun I’ll try that, thanks!😊

The toebox feels like 1/2 inch narrower than the previous version, I wish they have kept it the same as the Pursuit 1, these were not for me
Interesting feedback, but much appreciated!
Great seeing you this morning. Happy runnings
Likewise! Appreciate you saying hi!
I loved the Olympus 4s for long runs and/or rocky terrain. They only lasted 350 miles before one split down the side though. Have a pair of 5’s now and they took about 20-30 miles to break-in before they felt okay, but I like the 4’s better for the way they fit my feet. I have no idea if I’ll try the 6’s, although I do need a high cushion shoe in my rotation and really like zero drop shoes. I’ve switched to never buying the current generation since once they are released the previous generation gets a healthy discount which increases the value.
It's 12.2oz in a mens size 10.5 which altra uses for their tech specs on their site
Interesting. I thought I read something that stated differently however, I just weighed my US men's 9.5 shoe and it weighed in at 11.6 Oz (328 g).
'Super durable' ...that seems an exaggeration with so little testing. And given how non durable past generations have been, I'd take average durability as a huge improvement.
My full review video is out now and durability seems to be holding up great so far. The overlays are very durable, but we'll see how the upper holds up in the long haul.

signed up for the pilot mountain to hanging rock 50k as a 16 year old in september with my buddy in cross country, thanks for the info!
Sounds like a blast! Best of luck and I hope you enjoy it.
@@SeeChadRun thank you!
I've run in the Olympus since their first version. But for $175, I'm thinking of finding something else at a cheaper price. Would the Topo Ultraventure be a comparable shoe (other than the 5mm drop)?
It should be though I haven't run in the Ultraventure yet. I have really liked the Topo MTN Racer 3 and Pursuit 2.
How do the no show socks feel with these? I have the Under Armour Phantom 3 SE's and the shoe tears up my Achilles tendon with no show socks (which are my favorite sock aesthetically speaking).
These no-show shocks have a little tab on the back which helps prevent rubbing on the Achilles tendon (Adidas Running Tabbed). I use these socks for 100% of my runs and never have an issue in any shoe. Thanks for the question and the comment!
