i have around 80km in this shoe and am loving it so far; looks good as new except for some wrinkles in the midsole. the upper is indeed very spacious, but it's a godsend for wide-footers like me who can't fit into most nikes/hokas/sauconys/pumas.
I have the Craft Pro Endur Distance version 1 (now called Endurance in v2) which seems to have a very similar upper and midsole. Midsole is one of my favorites but the upper in version one was bad. There was also extra material like you said around the midfoot which caused a blister around the islet chain. Did you have any hot spots around there or hopefully just noticed the extra room? The shoe looks fun. Thanks
Despite the extra room in the upper of the Pacer, I have never developed any blisters or redness. I also have the Endurance 2 and for my foot, the upper is more snug in that shoe. The midsole is also a little stiffer but more responsive in the Endurance 2 versus the Pacer which has a very soft and bouncy midsole.

I think it would be great for that! It's a shoe that I wish I had when I first started running half marathons.

Either should be fine. The Endurance 2 has a firmer midsole which may be better for heavier runners.
