Imagine if you actually prepped the tires the right way? you applied dark pro on tires that are brown lol. why?
The bristles will fall out after a few applications, well it happened to me đđ»
CarPro are a quality brand Graeme and good to see different products on the tube but for me GT Tyre Serum is the only product I use on my tyres
Thanks Martin!, yeah completely agree with you there tyre serum FTW đ
Similar results with DarkSide on the Golf... 3mths and needs doing again, be interesting to see how it copes with a Scottish winter being a sealant and quite hydrophobic even when almost out. I know what's next, and it's so green, it's apparently brought Dolphins back to the Clyde đđŹđ
Did you get all the crap it gathers around the tyre over the duration too ? Iâll def try it again over winter just to see đ
I like GT Serum and Darkside but it does need a wipe off to look right for me.
Maybe that wipe off prevents the build up of gunk around the sidewall when you clean it ??
Thanks for the demo. I really want to try this, but I've soooo much left of the GT Tyre Serum that I can't justify it. I'm guessing Yum tyre dressing or DIY Detail's, because they're the other ones I fancy trying
Yeah youâll not see a YUMâs product on this channel đđ
Nice neat review, as always.. I' have quite a liking for CarPro prodcucts, and I've yet to find one which I consider bad. I've used Perl for my Tyres up until now which I wouldn't say is a Tyre dressing per se, but it does quite a good (if Glossy) job... I think I'll give this a go in the near future. Thanks for sharing with us. PS: What is your Tyre 'undress' product of choice?
Thanks mate, most preferred undress product is def Autoglanz Rebound, I helped in the development of the product and was just pipped at the post with the name but Rebound is very good đ
That is a brand I have never tried but I have been swapping between GT Serum my long term product and TW Graphene which I quite like.
Iâve seen a lot more âconditioningâ types emerging inc graphene ones , not sure about how graphene can help a tyre dressing but thatâs whatâs next on the new tyres đ€
@@GMDetails It will be interesting to see what you think about it.
Iâm yet to try this, heard lots of good things and as you proved here it looks good and lasts well but I probably have enough tyre dressing for this life and the next so Iâm going to hold back. Hawk tuah back at ya
Aw you watched to the end đđ Yeah Iâve got water based, silicone, graphene, conditioners, solvents âŠâŠâŠ Goes on and on đ
Just in time for your new wheels
Iâve one product to try out on the new wheels, but I donât think itâs going to last too long before tyre serum is back
@GMDetails you're right I've tried others and there's no comparison to GT serum
A wheel mitt would work loads better than that big brush.
I know!!, the whole point was I was trying something thatâs all over CZcams and I didnât get on with it , I never use brushes like this but seemed like I was missing out on something amazing, clearly not đ
The go-to channel for an honest Garage Therapy review. The final results are fine but the application would be a deal breaker for me. I can cope without scents but not that grabiness and ghosting. I think many people, me included, can remember waxes that were that unforgiving forty years ago and I never want to be near them again. I'm currently loving a ceramic wax that allows itself to be hurled on, left for ages and defies direct sunlight to affect it. Waxing for me Is the most satisfying part of detailing and I want it to be a pleasure, especially on a dark car. That's also the reason why longevity is not so important to me as I look forward to the next application. Very much appreciate the effort you put in to this one and your previous first-thougts video on this wax
Thank you very much for that feedback mate!!, really appreciate that!!, my outright honesty is certainly the backbone of the channel and itâs one of very few to be believed (even if I do say so myself đ ) If someone asked what I would choose between Alpha wax and Helios ceramic Iâd choose Helios for sure!!
Enjoyable mini series. The first attempt at a coating can be quite an anxious time. When you've done your first you realise much of what you've heard is simply hype to make others look like a. genius. Of course doing it in a garage is best but it can be done just as well outside. Just got to be sensible. By that I mean no rain or wind. Even if no rain is forcast, bear in mind overnight condensation and dew points. Moisture, of any kind, can cause huge headaches for a coating early on. Some toppers are available to combat this. I've learned the hard way not to be a guinea pig for companies when they enter the ceramic market. If you want to try one year coatings, my advise is Tac Systems Moonlight or the more durable Quartz Easy. You simply cannot go wrong with them, totally fool proof. Investigate TS and you'll find they are they suppliers to the other well known Korean ceramic players.
Thanks again Adrian!, oohhh I have always wanted to try Moonlight but keep forgetting about it , an age thing đ Yes ordinarily I would certainly avoid a newcomer brand to ceramic coatings for testing unless it was only on a test panel , thanks for the info on moisture thatâs a good tip đ
At 17:05, when you said to take a listen to the sound of the pad against the bodywork, I've got to say I was truly taken by surprise. It sounded exactly like the birdies in the trees. On a more serious note, the tips on your stubby gun, are they rubberized or hard plastic?. Are where to purchase? Lastly.. For preparation before a coating, Kamikaze make a superb product for that. Without searching my garage for it I believe it's called Clense. A wax and sealant killer. Enjoyable video btw.
đŠ and đłđ yes, but!!, that was my point, there wasnât much surface contamination on it , a little but not a lot đȘ The tips on the nozzles are a real hard rubber and I got them off Ali Express mate, size 040 orifice and stainless steel Iâll check out the Kamikaze product đ
Fantastic video Graeme and a top voice over too. The Skoda I'd going to come up an absolute treat. I'm a tardis man but, I cam definitely see the GT coming to the shelf in the future, albeit, I have some detail bug to try first. Those throw away microfibres are also a good idea, I'll look out for them when doing the shop. All the best buddy. đ
Thanks Lee!!, youâll find GT tar a tad slower but one you can leave and go for a brew!, come back and a gentle wipe itâs removing just the same as the aggressive solvents , the detail bug one is A-Chem Iâm sure and very similar to Tardis đ€
Wow! 500 litres per minute! That k7 packs a punch
More on that soon!! đ
@@GMDetails I thought that might of been a mistake? As 500 litres per minute is unheard of. A commercial one will do about 40 per min.
Wait did I say per minute?? đł
Dammit what a clown I am!!, just over 500L/HR mate THANK YOU for highlighting this mistake đđ
I applied a ceramic coating about 12 months ago. I noticed a few weeks ago that there were the odd areas that had strange marks in the paintwork that didn't wash off. Almost looked like flat blisters with the paintwork underneath looking faded. I'm convinced it has something to do with the ceramic coating. The car paintwork was in very good condition on a 3yr old car.Have you or anyone else experienced this?
Hi, is it on the whole car or maybe localised to a single panel or areas?
@@GMDetails Just localised, centre front of the bonnet mainly, almost like water marks but worse and overall an area of a 2 pence. A couple of other smaller marks, also left and right near bonnet edge. All on the bonnet now I think of it. I traded the car a couple of weeks ago now, otherwise I could have taken pictures. The reason I ask, is so I know whether to use a ceramic coating in future or not.
Ah thatâs a shame we couldnât have got to the bottom of it , could have been a variety of things anywhere from a previous repair that you may not have known about through to bird poo etching , hopefully you wonât be put off using one again as a coating wonât cause any damage to the substrate if youâre using a reputable brand
Try using a water spot remover on it. Some ceramics are prone to water spotting. If that fails you've got to machine polish. Unlikely to be bird droppings with the amount of marks you describe.
Did a nice job ,nothing wrong with doing outside we canât all have big fancy work shops
Thanks Simon đ
Great video đ Helios certainly looks interesting
@@thedetailinghobbyist thanks Craig!, so easy to use as well đ
Fantastic video Graeme as usual - easy to watch, great information... AND it makes the ceramic process look a lot less daunting than most home users might think it is - especially if applying outdoors isnt an issue! The Skoda's paintwork looked great in the end đđŒ
@@SparkleanAutos cheers mate , it was by no means perfectly jewelled or anything but it certainly brought the gloss out for sure đ
Amazing videos and the editing quality is just đ€đ»
@@GarageTherapyOfficial thank you đ
Excellent job on the car mate, really enjoyed both videos. I'm on the same boat as you with machine polishing, I'm always slightly wary of overdoing it and ruining the clear coat
@@Richard_Details thanks for the feedback mate đ My problem is time, some can do a whole clean & polish in a few hours they must be going like the clappers Thing is if you want to have a go, thereâs nothing to say you canât do various bits over different weekends instead of having to do the full car đ€
I like to think Iâm quite clued up on the GT range but a little lost when it comes to the coatings as I donât use regularly seems to be a lot of options. This one looks good though, will be good to see how easy the maintenance cleans are in future
@@gillywash1487 certainly are a lot of options now from GT , itâs certainly been a great opportunity to try one out but wouldnât be beneficial to put one on my car as trying other products would clog it quickly and affect its longevity AND what new thing I was trying out , but I am looking forward to the next clean with it to see what itâs like
Wow, what can I say Graeme...another fantastic and fascinating video. Again full of advice and tips for us beginners...Thank You!! It was great to actually see you doing a polishing set in normal speed and not turbo speed (X5 speed). Gave a true picture of what to do and how to go about it, another one to save for future reference. The cloth choice for spent polish is always my downfall as so many people advise different ones but don't actually say which pile/gsm to use. You made applying the coating look like you'd done it many times before and if it's easy to apply then Garage Therapy could be onto a winner especially within the amature detailer market. I think however I'll stick to waxes and sealants as you pointed out, my level of experience twinned with I like to try different Lsp's would be a waste of time ceramic coating the car, but never say never though. Can't wait to see the follow up maintenance washes when you get it back, I assume GT will play a part đ€đ€ Well done again đđ
@@paulquickmire4140 aw thanks for the amazing feedback there !, I did take your considerations into account while editing so Iâm glad it helped you to understand a bit more of the process , thanks again Paul đ
Absolutely fantastic Graeme, saving this one for future reference. The amount of detail you've provided in what goes into a full decontamination of the car đđ. I was expecially pleased you included some timings of the different processes as a lot of people tell you what to do, show it at 5x speed and say look what I've done without any mention it's just took them 7+hrs. You can't beat the Garage Therapy approach to getting a car ready for any Lsp, they just do the job brilliantly which also helps keep the stress level down when tackling such a big project especially when you've only got a weekend and every minute counts. Looking forward to Part 2, well done again on producing a fantastic video đđ
Thanks Paul!, well I hope you get good use out of it mate thatâs the whole point of videos like this to be used as a reference aid, GT really has made decontamination easier
Detailed, methodical and perfectly narrated... Excellent demonstration & build up to a process that used to be exclusive to experienced professionals but more and more now can be done at home with no training or certificates required! Already started watching part 2 as I type this đđŒ
Glad you enjoyed it Mark!, I do have a certificate, from Chemical Guys đđ
@@GMDetails haha well enough said then...
Great Video Graeme.. I find the spray heads that come with GT products, and other brands, fail quite regularly. Always end up replacing them with Tolco spray heads.
Great point! I like them but for things like iron remover and tar remover Iâm going to start removing them , Iâve had Tolco ones fail too with alkaline wheel cleaners etc so again itâs all about looking after your equipment đ
If the GT coating is priced right, it could replace Gyeon Mohs Evo Light in my garage.
@@patrickvennard838 thereâs a few in the same category itâll be good to move up a level and test a few together đ€
2 excellent videos back to back. That ceramic was looking good, hopefully we'll get some beading shots soon :). That was an absolutely lovely colour Kamiq too.
@@DetailBase beading is lovely , Iâll send you a video of when it rained when I next cleaned it âïž
Cracking video mate, camera and editing work were absolutely spot on.

Always been too âfeartâ to try machine polishing and ceramic coating, but no denying the excellent results you got Graeme.
Itâs certainly a lot of hard work, this took just over 2 days to get looking this way, a weekend gone but the results are a lot better after taking the time spent on it đ
It does look good to be fair. No surprise, what with the methodic prep work which you did, plus the meticulous application. As mentioned. It'll be interesting to know the price, plus how durable the product is... Knowing GT both should be impressive.
Thank you mate!!, I really was nervously applying it knowing what can go wrong but this coating really doesnât have any of the issues some do, and none of the hard Mr Miyagi wax on wax off buffing, itâs no wonder Maz loves a coating over wax
Enjoyed that super thorough process Greame, a lot of work! Loved that Angelwax Glide for decon instead of Clay - does it mar the paint?
Thanks Colin!, itâs incredibly gentle on paint but always being mindful of pressure with it and plenty of lube!, I havenât experienced any marring with it yet but I only tend to use it before polish anyways
Great work, not sure I'm sold on the ceramic, I find fusso coat lasts just as long and can be topped up with mirror shine. I would be interested to know the price.
Thanks , Iâd rather apply this than ANY wax as itâs just so easy but price would possibly sway me back if itâs like double the price or something , prices should be available early August
@@GMDetails it does look a lot less daunting than other ceramic coatings I've seen applied, but again price would be a key consideration. Really great work and it shows in the final result!
Nice work. Good to test yourself. For me, I have one big issue with these ceramics and ceramic lites. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when the coating mostly dies, you need to remove the remnants using a polisher? I don't have one and I'm not going to hand polish. To remove Sonax BSD, AG Polar Seal or BH DSW you just need, well time, and to use Megs Wash Plus and/or GT Decon a couple of times. It's such a deal breaker for me. As I said, please correct me if I'm wrong.
@@pigeonpoo1823 thatâs a bloody good question!, Iâll certainly try and find out an answer for you I didnât think of that element to them at all đ
If you're using a one year coating you don't have any worries. Think of it like this: one year has passed, so time to decon (mech & chem) so light polishing IS required anyway. Another one year coating is applied. It actually my process but you're right, you need a machine.
Looks spot on pal! Gotta love a good bit of Garage Therapy too!
Oh thank you !! It sure has been a while since I used GT for a full video and you certainly forget how good they are!!

Ever since ur last test with these i did my own test of BSD vs Parla and had the same results. Parla can take way more of a beating than BSD. Now, BSD is not a bad product AT ALL! ;)
Thatâs brilliant to know as results can vary depending on location with washing frequencies and quality of water etc so thanks for the info đđ
@@GMDetails with pleasure. Also BSD can be a drying aid or stand alone application. But parla needs dry surface i noticed, does not keep itself if u apply it as a drying aid. :)
@@NoFix Iâve just been experimenting with some other ceramic sealants as wet applications, something theyâre not designed for but some can and some canât , things like this just interest me maybe a little too much đ
@@GMDetails haha i found my twin then. I like to experiment also. Even combining different products. 2 weeks ago i combined parla and BSD in a bottle and it gave clotts đ. Just to say, i experiment also. For now fusso coat+bsd on every wash got my girlfriends car almost a good 10 months protection before the lower doors started to get hit. Yesterday i applied fusso coat on mine and im gonna do a test with parla after every wash now. đ€ Every few weeks i order a few new products which i think is good and try them. Last one was Bilt Hamber speed wax. Not bad but i found it annoying that the wax âsweatsâ. Also Soft 99 the glaco for on the mirrors does an amazing job for my rear view camera which is exposed. On the mirrors it gives a slight smoky tint, but for the camera its perfect. Yesterday tried also the compound of soft 99 before fusso and it was superbe also. Even did the windows with it and i was pleasently surprised.
