    It really can be a minefield of products and processes the more you get into detailing, hopefully this series will help some people how aren’t complete beginners but a bit daunted by all the stuff available these days

      Some people just take it to extremes don’t they?, must have the latest and greatest, starting out can be affordable and with awesome results which you get with Garage Therapy products

    Absolutely fantastic 2nd part - loved the inclusion of the Arnold Clarke sales pitch and proof throughout the video that it isnt always worth the money! (In fact I've yet to see any evidence that sny dealer-applied 'coatings' are worth it?)
    John could be a presenter in his own right, very easy to understand and its great to get the perspective of a non-obsessive car owner whi just wants to keep their car looking decent 👍🏼👌🏼
    Great series so far Graeme and cant wait until part 3 👍🏼👍🏼

      Glad you enjoyed it Mark 😀
      That Arnold Clark promo went on for around 5 mins 🤣 saying how it would defend against pollution and other complete bs , totally agree dealership valet bays are no place for applying a ceramic , they just don’t have the time or expertise to fully prep the car properly.
      Really pleased you’re enjoying this little mini series idea 😅

      Arnold Clarke might as well be renamed to clowns'r'us.
      Absolute scam artists and this practice of miss selling these "coatings" should be banned. Absolutely disgrace to the actual detailers that work their arse off to properly apply ceramics which actually last years.

      Their "in-house" offering is actually GTechniq ceramic coatings and I checked and they are certified by GTechniq.
      Very surprised.

    Loving this series pal. Always be open to new ideas/methods.
    Dealer protection is a complete scam, my advice is to find a good local Detailer and give them the money instead and you will get x10 better job and also support a local guy and not a multi million pound business.

    Still enjoying this mini series, it's always good to see how someone else goes about the job of cleaning and in what order they do things, like badges last after the shampoo. I liked your friend's method of the 3 colour coded mitts, possibly something I might take away 🤔🤔. Can't wait for the last episode 👍👍

    Great series this. Wish it had been posted when I first started trying to clean my cars properly! Agree that GT’s Decon Shampoo is a great versatile product. I’ve started using it as a wheel cleaner for maintenance washes but noticed it actually does a real clean on the tyres too unlike their pure wheel cleaner. Thanks for posting 🙏🏾

    Another excellent video, Graeme! Im gutted for John, being fleeced by the money grabbers... I do hope that there's such a thing as Karma for these firms.
    Anyway, I too have Karcher K2 and it does the job fine, as a hobbyist, I don't think I need much more really.
    As for GT products, they're very good indeed.

    Can vouch for the quick release trigger guns. It makes a huge difference in how quick you get stuff done. Use 25 degree nozzles for wheels, arch ways and under carriage. Would also say go from bottom up on the rinses or applying snow foam. GT decon is a good product but I'd say Surfex HD can do everything it can do better and more. You can use it to do interior as well with fabric seats.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Před 7 měsíci

      Any which way you want is fine I just prefer to rinse foam from bottom up as it allows me to see where I’ve been with the lance and also to allow the product that’s still on the car to keep working for that little extra time but in reality it’s probably not going to make a heck of a difference 😅

    • @kwl189
      @kwl189 Před 7 měsíci +1

      @@GMDetails agreed that's why I realised there was a good reason to do it the same way as you. A logic to the method. I only ever did top to down because it was convenient and would cut down on time but actually going bottom to the top is better. Make sure all the layers of snow foam are blasted off 😂. Stuff like Surfex HD and Autofoam aren't free rinsing like Touchless so will leave a layer of sorts that needs a thorough rinse off or contact wash to follow.

    I dont know how but ive managed to miss part 1 so looks like ill be going back to watch that now!
    There really is so much information out there, it can be easy to confuse someone just getting into this hobby, so its nice to break it all down and keep it simple.
    As you know i done a video on dealer protection a while back, not the AC stuff but it was gone within 6 months. Whenever i hear anyone thinking of buying a new car i allways mention to them to skip the protection. If your friend is only going to be doing his own car the K2 he has should be more than enough, mine has been going for the past 6 years now and has been passed onto my dad, with a couple of upgrades it is more than capable of getting a car clean easily.

    • @GMDetails
      @GMDetails  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Thanks Dave!, misinformation overload was the basis for the video , keeping things simple with minimal product , cost and time was the aim.
      Dealers just don’t prep properly or possibly don’t understand the product they’re applying , it’s like PPI claims all over again 😅

    I started out just like John 2 years ago - just wanted to give my car a good clean. I soon realized it could be a rabbithole, but it doesn't have to be. As mentioned regarding citrus versus foam: What is more fun? I think that's a great question. The main reason why I delved deeper into detailing is simply because I find it enjoyable and soothing. The process and the end result.👍

    • @SparkleanAutos
      @SparkleanAutos Před 7 měsíci

      It really doesn't have to be rabbithole, you're absolutely right - channels like Graeme, myself & a few others are always trying to make that clear - you don't need to buy the best equipment and use the most expensive products to get good results, you simply need to find an enjoyable process that works for you, pick up little hints here and there and the results will be exactly whet you're after 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

    Unfortunately John, you've been had and spent a load of money on absolute nonsense from a dealer. It should illegal to miss sell their options like they do. There absolutely no evidence or validity in their claims of it last several years. It is shockingly poor quality of a spray on sealant at best which doesn't even last that long as opposed to quality spray on sealants. You're far better off saving that money for your detail supplies. One tin of fusso coat will run you £30 max and last you likely the cars lifetime in how durable each application lasts for.
