I wouldn’t even call this a glitch. A Glitch is something that happens unintentionally due to code messing with things it shouldn’t be, such as visual errors, and a Bug is something unintentional that is usually caused by an oversight, such as behavior not working as intended or falling through collision. I would call wall jumping in SMB an Exploit since it uses knowledge of how the game works to your advantage.

Those VS Super Mario Bros arcade games were around when I was a kid, as were the Playchoice 10s. I have fond memories of playing it at Astroworld in Houston in the late 80s. I remember it being harder, and the colors being weird.
