I am a US retired R.N. and worked with many Philippine doctors and nurses throughout my long nursing career, and not a one ever wanted to return to live in the Philippines because they were paid far more in the US that enhanced their lives and the lives of their family members they sent money to back in the Philippines. And I can tell you from 1st hand experience working with them, these Philippine colleagues had an incredible work ethic, and as a result are retiring very financially comfortable in the US compared to many born in and worked in the US workforce their entire working lives. And I say good for them as their hard work paid off.

Just how desperate do you have to be to go in a squalid, dangerous place where you KNOW you're being absolutely used just to screw a girl you probably wouldn't want in the States?

Be smart. A 60 yrear old guy dating a 20 year old is your downfall. What does a 20 year old have in common with you. Think about it. Most likely they have a boyfriend and you are a cash cow. Find someone close to your own age to be safe. My extended family is filipino in ph and there are so many horror stories of foreigners and filipinas getting together to only get taken for a cash ride. Read the laws as well. If she lives with you for a while in your home there, she can get money from you like a divorce if she leaves.its not at all like other countries laws. The laws there always benefit the filipino.

I'm a woman who lived in Rio De Janeiro and I used to see this all the time with older (ex pat) men and young Brazilian woman. I'm sorry but this disgusts me. These guys are fooling themselves. These women are at such a disadvantage financially and ex pat guys take advantage of this. Any upper income native woman in her 20s or 30s wouldn't look at this guy twice and he knows it. I say this as a woman who lived in Peru at age 40 and was approached by a multitude of men. I know what they wanted - a ticket out of poverty. Be real and take off the blinders.

I'm married to a Filipina that I'm working on getting here to the US. I live about a mile outside of a little town in western NY. Maybe 600 people, so I've got 7 acres, a paid for three bdrm home, a thousand foot stream, mountains and several finger lakes around me. I'd like her to see this place. It would actually cost us more to rent a place in the Philippines than live here.who knows what the future will bring though and maybe we decide to move to the Philippines for six months or to stay. We'll see. I've been there a couple times already so I know the noises, smells, traffic and lack of infrastructure. It'll depend on both of us what we like.

To me,,the food in the Philippines is much better than in the U.S. specially all the fruit,,no comparison at all with the tomatoes or corn. And I can sit back and learn to cook all the Filipino dishes at home. And we haven’t eve😅started talking about all the great street vendor foods,,are you kidding me?❤

He sounds like a rational logical guy trying to figure out his best course of life. It's funny in a way, that there is so much immigration to the States because of limited economic opportunity in other countries. But on the other hand, there are expats who are forced to leave the States because the limited dating / mating opportunity here for many men.

I have some backlash from family but friends are ok we are 29 yrs apart , but we are making it work and happy. My Filipina always tells me no too expensive , if you want we go here to buy not here.

My mother and Father was 23 years apart. Both Filipinos. My father lived to 89. And my mom cared for him till he died.

This is a great topic. I'm 52 now and although I have a comfortable home base, I have traveled a lot and moved a bit during the pandemic. People move on, people do not stay in touch, people do not care. I'm a totally functional, normal person, and yet I basically have no friends. You can mingle and attend social events or even dance classes for example, but at best you are making superficial acquaintances. It's not like college where everyone you meet becomes the most incredible friendship you've ever had. At 52, no one wants to be your buddy. Even other 52 year olds. I have basically given up at this point. I don't even go out. And I know that when I travel, this pressure is largely taken away. So, retiring as an expat is a great idea to stir the pot, shake things up, get out of our cultural routines and pressures.

Great video Chad. Love listening to Marco and loved the advice of “Know thy self”. It’s VERY difficult to look at the dark side of one’s self and yet very necessary to incorporate and manage it. The only challenge with retiring in Asia is the distance. You can't just pop on back to the US like if you were in Mexico. But being worlds away, I'll bet it feels good. Hope he finds peace and happiness in his golden years. Life in the US is getting more difficult every year.

It is very far from the US, to retire in a new home at 81. But I can imagine without a doubt it is an easier life. I know when I travel, just being outside the US relieves a lot of the tension and pressure we all feel in our culture. I hope Jerry can chill now and enjoy himself.

I live in a city in phils close to mall and i like it. Going there in phils later this year and stay there 5 months. I dont like winter anymore. Better hot and sun and rain sometimes than icecold winter.

Could I live in the Philippines permanently??? No. Could I spend a good 6 months there? Yes. People don't realize when reality sets in things change. I said the same thing, you leave the expat "bubble" it is insane poverty in the Phillipines

When I first met my wife she talked to me (first visits) that a welcome kiss should be a smack kiss. Not deep because it would be in front of others. Very little PDA. Now much more casual affection, compared to others in her family, we show the most. I saw my BIL kiss his wife once in 17 years.
