I think that at the end of the day, the winning place goes to whoever wants it most, not who is talented. If you are talented but you don't really want it, you won't get it. If you're average but want it really bad and train extra for it, you will get close.

I don't think Noah Lyles will get much faster over 100m but he needs to, if he is going to have any shot at breaking the 200m world record, which is the only sprint record that he might have a shot at breaking, based on his running style. The main reason both of Bolt's records are out of his reach is simple because he is not fast enough, especially over 100m. Multiply Bolt's 100m time of 9.58 by 2, and it is almost a splitting average of his 200m time of 19.19. How does a guy who is running 9.82 at full tilt for 100m have any shot at running faster than 19.19 for 200m? He Lyles is already running an insane negative split for the 200m, and in doing so, he has yet to break 10 seconds for the initial 100m of that distance, which Bolt covered in 9.92 en route to his sizzling 19.19. Lyles should consider stepping up to the 400m and double with the 200m. He has more potential to break 400m world record than any other. Just my take. He will only win the 200m at the Olympics and possibly the 4 x 100m gold medal. I predicted that he would have lost to Seville, and he certainly did. My logic is that a young Seville is improving while Lyles has plateaued. Forget about if a healthy Kishane Thompson and an improved Tobego show up at the Olympics.

Yea cuz hs coaching got better. Just ten years ago they were still preaching AEROBIC BASE FOR ALL SPRINTERS. In case anyone is wondering, only then 400m has a a truly aerobic aspect to it and that's the final 100m so for YEARS ha coaches preached stamina and bases and confusing that with “strength” and then the football players would walk over and tear everyone up in the 100😂 because they were the only ones training for explosive speed.
