    I know the world is saying that Lyles shouldn't count his chickens before they hatch, and that he's making a mistake talking himself up so much leading into the Olympics, but considering this USA drought in the Olympics, i have a lot of respect for someone who is unapologetic about sharing his ambitions and goals. I really can't remember an Olympics in my lifetime that had so much buzz around the 100m. Honestly...anything can happen, and I can't wait to see what happens.

    Omanyala ran 9.79 this year but with an advantage of elevation lol so I understand why he wasn't considered a contender. I'm a massive Jamaican fan but I would give Lyes a slight nod to winning because he has proven to be consistent, and he might be able to summon a 9.7 performance when it counts. On paper, the Jamaicans win this season but they aren't "battle proven" like Lyes has proven to be in the finals.

  • @CYMotorsport
    @CYMotorsport Před 15 dny +7

    THANK YOU. i'll take it 1 step further though and what I feared might happen if Noah is too worried about Bolt's shadow: Noah is rapid right now, but he gets very beatable when he tries to double. especially because he's struggled to manage his round energy effectively but he's been able to get away with it. if you get caught up wanting to win heats and get caught in a meaningless footrace like he did with Kenny to go 19.6, then have to make up 2-3 strides and win with a lean, how confident in that close are you going to feel in the olympics when pressure if FAR more than worlds? Not to mention, he's racing guys who are dedicating to their events.
    Kishane only wants individual gold in the 100m. Noah was managing heats and competing against all guys doubling. Bolt is the goat bc he made that look easy but his brilliance was how he managed doubling so long in a proper way,... only breaking 20 if he had to. even having to manage FOUR rounds for both events at his first games double victory. Kishane tends to just be quick CONSTANTLY through rounds - never being above 9.84 through 3 national rounds all legal wind. By contrast for example bolt was only quicker than that in his first olympic 100m gold in beijing when he set the world record in the final. same for the 200m - didn't even win his first heat , didn't sniff 19 until the final. london, same story. not under 20 until he had to be, losing his semi even. Noah's close doesn't allow him to shut down at major events when there's someone pressuring him. he got away with it in eugene 22 worlds bc he didn't double. 2023 IMO he got away with it bc a relatively weaker worlds field by comparison. There's Honestly a chance a 9.83 might not even medal in paris pending conditions of course. but budapest was flat nil on wind. I'll keep that same energy and acknowledge bolts beijing double was amidst a lull in global sprinting talent but in that same breath, he won by margins unheard of and touched times no active runner has beaten when he was
    If he's not careful, he could find himself spending a LOT of energy negotiating the 100m program. I hope not - i hope he wins it straight forward. but coincidentally he's arguably got his biggest test who is peaking at the perfect time. a guy who has already proven he can reliably hit 9.8s without help from the wind (Xiamen Diamond & Hayward Diamond, Sept 2023). remember, it was also bolt who pulled up at this exact age to exact revenge after Tyson dusted him off at worlds in osaka and then Asafa too for good measure in the 100m into some rough headwind.I'm old enough to remember live bolt had literally never registered a single sub 10 run before he turned up for the Jamaican tune up pre-trials. and even then he only did it a couple times in the 9.8s. then come finals, skipping 9.7 entirely to smash the field. Kishane has progressed similarly. 10.21 2 years ago, shaving off 4 entire tenths in a calendar year. now he's hitting 9.7 in his sleep, and doing it alone. i remember ahead of beijing, i just wasnt sure about bolt's 100 form but i do remember him shutting it down COMFORTABLY with 20m left. i'm getting the same feeling Kishane has something big in his legs. and again, he only has 100m responsibilities. repechage is going to be tricky this year.
    Noah's just MUST avoid the new Repechage Rounds which are going to be BRUTAL i'm going to wager now. he should be alright in the 200m as this field is a bit lackluster as it stands now but if he's spending too much time here in the 100m, that might not be so straightforward. not to mention, Knighton is a bit of a wild card. I was thinking he had a shot until you consider the amount of stress he's running under. But in this trials noah had to come from behind and make up ground to win. and while that's pretty standard for him given how he manages the race, he had to lean at this trials in ORDER to win. not to mention, he had a bye through USAs in 2023 which was 3 extra events he was free of. that's a much larger load in a late championship round taper. On top of All that, Paris has condensed the 100/200 days down to just 5 days instead of 6 like worlds.
    Net, imo it's a blessing what happened to richardson. Noah is daring to be great - I fear there's a lot of risk there when he was primed to challenge the 200m record IMO as he won't have the pace next cycle. But I'm wishing Noah all the best, a steady mind, loose muscles, and strong knee drive but he's going to have dig deep. the 100m is what worries me. Richardson I was praying wouldn't double. she too is facing a monster in jackson who appears to be peaking just as well with a good taper only 2 200m in her this year and 10.84 into headwind who has a PB to match sha'carri. if noah can push through and get some hardware, let alone beat Kishane, i think he's in cruise control there on and will be dangerously fast in the 2. i can't wait to find out either way. thanks for the video and providing a platform to think about this. it's going to be a mentally rough games and noah has a huge test ahead of him as does the Jamaican younger along with plenty who are happy to spoil the party !

    Kishane Thompson did not fall out of the sky. He showed potential a year ago, as you stated. I don't think Noah Lyles will get much faster over 100m but he needs to, if he is going to have any shot at breaking the 200m world record, which is the only sprint record that he might have a shot at breaking, based on his running style.
    The main reason both of Bolt's records are out of his reach is simple because he is not fast enough, especially over 100m. Multiply Bolt's 100m time of 9.58 by 2, and it is almost a splitting average of his 200m time of 19.19. How does a guy who is running 9.82 at full tilt for 100m have any shot at running faster than 19.19 for 200m? He Lyles is already running an insane negative split for the 200m, and in doing so, he has yet to break 10 seconds for the initial 100m of that distance, which Bolt covered in 9.92 en route to his sizzling 19.19. Lyles should consider stepping up to the 400m and double with the 200m. He has more potential to break 400m world record than any other. Just my take.
    He will only win the 200m at the Olympics and possibly the 4 x 100m gold medal. I predicted that he would have lost to Seville, and he certainly did. My logic is that a young Seville is improving while Lyles has plateaued. Forget about if a healthy Kishane Thompson and an improved Tobego show up at the Olympics.
