    Venus did have a moon. It was called Mercury. Mercury did have a crust but it was absorbed during an impact with Venus. Venus spins backward because all of a sudden it's center of gravity was F'ed what is absorbed Mercury's crust Mercury was a moon a Venus for a time until it's elliptical orbit got a little bit too far away. So this is your bedtime story The ties everything together but has no proof

      How is it you can even have that perspective? SpaceX is the leading launch provider by leaps and bounds as well as being the most reliable statistically. So reliable that they're landings have a safer track record then others launching. If you just don't like Musk that's fine, but do not let that blind you to the facts and figures.

    I'm getting really tired with the constant narrative that the Earth was some innocent victim just sitting there minding it's own business, when out of nowhere some aggressive interloper came crashing in as if Theia rammed into Earth on purpose. No one ever talks about how Earth might have been the primary aggressor and be the one to smash into Theia. Poor Theia, so much smaller than Earth, may have just been trying to get by in its day to day when big bully Earth comes by and just shoulder checks Theia as if to ask "Why are you hitting yourself?". For all we know primitive Earth was the one going around steeling everyone's lunch money. Just because Earth is nice now doesn't mean it wasn't a complete jerk way back then.

    After it formed , it was so close , there were as many as 10 tides a day. Some scientists believe that this churning of the chemical soup of the seas started life growing , then that went "ape" and caused the first extinction event ,,,(too much oxygen for existing life)

    • @andrewdillon7837
      @andrewdillon7837 Před 22 hodinami

      Also , it is thought that the visible face of the moon , (already Tidally locked) , is smoothe because it was really close to the still molten earth , melted , or kept melted by radiated Infra-Red heat.

    My personal opinion about Theia: While the core and larger elements did fuse with Earth's core as the Giant Impact hypothesis suggests, I think that the oblique angle of impact wouldn't lead to escape velocity for mass majority. Instead, I believe that the impact coupled with the relatively higher gravity of Earth (compared to Theia) would have captured the ruined remnants of Theia, which then re-coalesced over time into what we now know as our moon. I find it more interesting to believe that Luna (our moon) is in fact the reformed corpse of Theia.

    Artemis is in fact not a strategy, but only a very expensive and pompous PR plan to stroke the collective ego at an incredibly high cost with an incredibly symbolic return. Sending people to Mars from the same opera. This corresponds to the theme of famous shows - "Last Space Survivor", but not to the real problems of space exploration.

    I love listening to Simon but I do struggle with this theory, just like a lot of other theories of how the moon became to be. Like most theories they just seem to fit the evidence that are available at the time. At least it does until another explanation which makes more sense for the data available at that time.
