Don’t ever tell anybody you drive a Prius😂 jk lol
Right?
Great video friend But still a lot to take in, Help please ( 48V 16AH / 768WH ) LI- ION BATTERY, 1000 V DIRECT MOTOR, 90NM OF TORQUE. What speed am l looking to achieve, What distance and for how long , Would be a great help love from the UK.
There are a lot of variables for thr top speed and distance (terrain, rider weight, pedal assist level/throttle vs pedaling, etc). I'd say probably 24 to 28mph and a range of around 20 to 30 miles on those stats at a medium pedal assist level and 180lb rider.
@leetjohnson Thank you mate for your reply,
Superb episode! 👍
Thank you!!
You saved the day with this video. Thank you.
Awesome!!!
I ended up going with the Ecells Five Star and this worked great. Wired kept pushing back the ETA of the Freedom and refused to answer questions regarding when the bikes would actually be delivered. Very poor customer service. Ecells was fantastic to deal with.
@@sleepinglysithia That's great!!
You road right passed Baz’s house from Animal Kingdom!
Correct!!!
I was almost gonna mention it!
15:57 you can hear someone over a p.a. speaker saying "no motorised biking is allowed on the pier..." this is common in beach places with a pier. that's such a beautiful pristine place uncluttered of so many unpermitted food vendors & homeless found in other beach towns.
Yep!
Great information, thanks, nice scenery
Thank you!!
Getting this bike next week finally! It’s been quite a wait.
Awesome!!!
@@leetjohnson Yep! I followed a few groups on facebook on this very topic!
Hi my name is Forrest I live El Dorado Hills,I have a 2024 wire freedom to,I would like to go riding some time in the future,
Awesome! Let's ride!!
Thanks for the tips. Informative video. I just bought one. Waiting for delivery. I noticed you took the back battery off. Is that because you’re not going far to save weight? I’ll using mine as a commuter so fenders stay on to keep my pants clean. I will prly change out the tires to a hybrid or road tire. That may also get me more range. Mine will be urban focused. One question I have is how does it do in the rain? I’m hoping I can throw on a poncho and keep going. We have crazy rainy season in the desert. It usually rains on the commute home from work. ☮️
I don't have the new dual battery version yet, should be shipping soon!
You need a phone caddy
I sure do!
Anyone using a passcode yet on the Freedom?
I haven't tried it yet personally.
Nice ride, you definitely need the dual battery Freedom! Btw, the next e cell fail may be rear loaded death wobble on the dual star bikes. Some bikes will have a death wobble when weighted in back, like the Lectric xpeak, and the 5 star seems prone to this from Facebook posts. Adding the weight of a second battery might be the straw that broke the camels back. How would they know? They have never tested one and the AWD versions wouldn’t create the issue because of the weight and pull of the front motor. Can’t believe they sell bikes they have not tested. Relying on the Chinese to design the frame geometry is foolish. The gates drive and torque sensor are bad jokes as is the con man owner.
Thank you!!
This is a cool ride.. I want a bike that I can go 40 miles with.. I do have a route planned that takes me in the mountains.. It is 15 miles one way so 30 miles and that should keep my battery from getting too low..
This bike is a beast!!
@@leetjohnson The name Freedom is a good name for this bike.. What I really like about the videos of this bike is that people take this bike where we wouldn't normally go.. It allows us to have more Freedom..
@@darinsmith2458 I agree 👍
@@leetjohnson If I do get the new Freedom I will get 2 rear view mirrors just because I like them symmetrical and I will have them stick up rather than out.. I just know that if they stick out they will catch something.. I would imagine that new controller will be more efficient than the one you have as well so might be able get more performance and more miles.. My ride would be similar in that I would be biking into the mountains and then going downhill on my way back so I would imagine that if the battery has 5 bars then I probably could take it down to just hitting 2 bars then return home.. I should just gradually see how far I can go but I am sure that I would want to go as far as I could right off the bat;)
@darinsmith2458 for sure! If you do decide to get a Freedom, please use the link in this video description!! It really helps out this channel and I'd greatly appreciate it 👍
The price is not the only thing they backtracked on. They had a sale and I ordered one. It was a Monday and I was told the sale ended on Sunday. I ordered the bike with the extra battery and the upgraded fork. Was told not only the sale price wouldn’t be honored but the price had increased. I was transferred to the owner. He told me he would honor the old price. Was sent back to the order desk. Placed my order. But she didn’t take my payment. Even after questions her about it. Never got a confirmation and the next few day when calling to confirm no one answered the phone. So I ordered a different bike from a different manufacturer. It may be a couple mph slower but has nearly double the e-cells battery capacity including the second battery. And has dual motors. And after I upgrade the controller will run right along with the one I didn’t get. And I will still be a 2-300 bucks ahead. I’m sure the E-cell bike is fine. But I’m starting to have my doubts about the company.
Interesting! Thanks for sharing this information, we all appreciate it!!
I've got one on order hopefully mid-late July shipping.
Awesome!!
@@leetjohnson I’m your size so I’m glad it will support me, 26” fat tires help with that.

Funny here in Canada we can get the solar pannels kit but not the delta 2 kind of stupid
That is weird
What was the mileage you got from the ride!!
It was about 36 miles total and I ended up at about 54volts.
@@leetjohnson oh wow that’s quite an adventure! I wish I could do that type of range
Just ordered my Bike early June! How long did it take you to get yours?
I had to pre-order mine last year and it took a few months...but this batch should be out mid July.
C8 motor temp sensor works on mine.. i got 2024 freedom with Samsung battery. P5 set to 8 is correct.
Awesome!
Since you were able to make it to the bridge, I think an awesome ride would be to Rattlesnake Bar. Then ride the trails back along the lake back to Beal's Pointe. That would be awesome to see. As a teenager in the 80s, young adult in 90s, we used to go to the west side of Forresthill Bridge jand climb the I beams to get on the catwalk. You can then walk over to the pillars and there are ladders that lead down to them. We used to hangout after playing in the confluence downstream. Had plenty of awesome summers there.
That's a great idea, thank you!!
I’m getting my wired freedom this week!!!! Have you thought of getting the + version coming out now?
Nice!!!! Yes, I will be getting the new dual battery one next month!
@@leetjohnson the cruiser or the freedom?
@@undergroundcreeper7997 Freedom!
@@leetjohnson awesome! I could very use that thing right now because I Just got back from a long day of grad party hopping on my e-bike and I got a total mileage of 26.7! On my range test I did a few days ago of riding my current ebike not the freedom yet I wanted to see how much I would get outta the mileage full to dead and it equaled out to about 16 miles. I wouldn’t have been able to do the distance that did today if I didn’t have my charger along which is why that freedom is that much important to have if not an annioki or some other long range e-bike that can do those distances too and that’s the biggest thing I’ve come to learn when getting e-bikes is that once you ride a little bit you’ll want to ride further and I felt that a that struggle of having a smaller capacity battery today. My freedom can’t come sooner enough right now.
@@leetjohnson don’t you agree that getting an ebike that has a big battery pack from the start saves a ton of time and money in the long run?
I got a second battery for my 2024 Wired Freedom, nice for longer rides
That's awesome, so nice to have a second fresh battery to swap!
Well done.
Thank you, I appreciate it!
Bike is very wobbly. Everything tight. Any recommendations?
Hmmm, other thank double checking everything...maybe the bottom clasp for the lower part of the fork, at the axle?
@@leetjohnson Wired customer service said it’s normal cause of suspension. Lol. I’m not buying it. Lol
Awesome video! Have you been to lake clementine dam? I’ll reach out to you soon….
I haven't been to the Clemetine Damn! I need to check it out, let me know if you wanna go with!
Excellent vid once more, Lee. You're lucky to live where you do. I looked into my crystal ball this morning. I saw some drone shots in your future videos. 😏
Thank you! I used to have a drone, but I want to get one that follows you as you go along, I think that would be epic!
What locks do you use/recommend?
I just use a basic cable lock, but I don't live in an area where there is too much of an issue with theft, unless I go downtown. For higher security, I reccomend the U Lock type of locking system.
This is one of the better selling ULocks and works well......amzn.to/3VTR7v4
And this one is even better, if you don't mind spending a little bit more money.....www.amazon.com/dp/B000OZ9VLU/ref=cm_sw_r_as_gl_apa_gl_i_AN3TN4ER7YA9MG2RX7Y9?linkCode=ml2&tag=leethomasjohn-20
I do most of my riding on rural WI roads. Because of that I wear a fluorescent yellow shirt with glow strips for night riding, I have a flashing rear facing white strobe light on the top of my helmet, and a 1200 lumen flashing headlight so I can be seen. Having ridden a motorcycle I know the biggest concern is being seen. I think I have that remedied for my bike riding. Be safe out there.
Right on, thank you and you too!
Great ride along video, question for you is how to reset the trip odometer to zero? Also, for the tires do you use tannus tire protection liner or flat our out or slime?
Thank you! In order to reset the trip odometer, simply start up the bike, wait about 10 seconds and the press the up and down buttons (pas control buttons) at the same time for 3 to 5 seconds. I don't use any flat-out or tennis liners, but I do bring along an electric pump and tube patch kits for the longer rides.
these bikes don’t seem to have much handlebar room if you wanted to add accessories like a brighter headlight, turn signals, dual mirrors (not on the ends but on the bar), a phone holder and a camera mount all at the same time. that might require shopping around for a different handlebar since an extender might not be enough. 🤔
Yeah, if you want to add a bunch of different accessories to the bars, you may need to get bigger bars or a different style.
I have the wired freedom 2024 and I was able to add a mirror, horn and extra light to my handlebar.
Beautiful! Awesome ride; that's exactly the type of riding I hope to do when my bike arrives - just cruising at 20 mph is perfect. On my current recumbent trike cruising at 12 mph is normal, but riding on those rides would be more stressful. The WIRED is perfect for exploring in town. Love the content; great to see where people ride. That's a beautiful part of CA. Thanks for posting; be safe out there.
Thank you so much!
Ecells dual battery bike now costs $2,795 bc of the $300 tariff fee.
Yep!!
What do ya’ll think about if I buy a “dual star” five star e-cells bike, and do a std. large wheel on the front and a 24” on the back, “mullet” style. I’m 5’5 and ride on the road, but also do desert sandy-type trails sometimes. Or should I just buy it in the 24” all around? There is a $300 up charge to change to 24”. Any ideas appreciated.
I don't know if it would be worth the $300 for just one wheel to be smaller, but do what makes ya happy!!
Wish I had one
They are a blast!
Does surron top speed get lower after battery gets low
A little bit. All electric motors will rotate slower as the voltage drops from the battery.
@@leetjohnson thank you
This is the most brief and concise explanation! Thank you
You're welcome! Glad you liked it!!
I have the Jen to 2024 early version wired freedom and only have about 300 miles on it. I have a grinding sound coming from the motor and pedal assist mode to and higher sounding like a bearing going out. I spoke to wired, and they asked me to send an audio recording of the sound, so I did. They told me that sound is normal operation of the bike and it is the metal sandwich of the nylon gear in the motor. That doesn’t sound right to me though? Have you or anyone else experienced this issue?
Mine does make a little bit of a light grinding sound, especially after about 20 minutes and it is warmed up. It hasn't caused any issues, just sounds a little bit noisy. As far as I know, that is from the metal gears over the nylon, as solid nylon are quieter, but don't last as long. I think they figured the extra noise was worth it. Very similar to my rc cars with nylon vs metal spur gears.
Love the E bike and the E car and this channel.
Right on!!
Thanks for the information. I never had a full suspension bike before. I am waiting for my Wired Cruiser to come in. Wired has put full suspension on its Cruiser model.
Awesome, you're gonna love it!!!
*So with the pedal assist 5 were you pedaling at all? Because I want to see the range, same general terrain and weather yet without any pedaling (not even ghost pedaling unless maybe in an area where you need to, like a light turning red or by the fuzz or you know. I have pedaled some 67,000 miles in my life (or it equivalent on ATB's or like an actual 10,500 miles on a 3 speed Columbia Sports 3 and such) and while the bike is ok I'm 49, and I'm a cyclocross/road tourer, I would like a pedal motorcycle (like a class 5 but legally class 2 lol) especially for hauling groceries and stuff and I like you am 6'4" and weight 229 but figure on having a trailer at total 300 lbs or upto 250lbs on a special rack I will build because I might be one of those people you pass by, on the side of the road, you being in Cali and living in my van, I dont want to always have to break up camp maybe lose my spot, to get some food, pallets or dumpster crap. But really because I want know what he Wired can do and can't. and Not that I should.*
I was pedaling a little bit to help. Check out my video "Worst Case Scenario" where I was mostly throttling and a little bit of ghost pedaling to active the motor. That one will give you the absolute minimum range, minus your trailer weight. I would say absolute worst case with no pedaling, probably 25 miles. The new one has dual batteries now for the same price, shipping starts next month!
@@leetjohnson *I watched most of that video yet you were peddling, so it be a good test to see with none when you get the chance (for us heavy spare tire, plunk your ass types;)*

Thanks for watching!0
Citizen ran it hard, no pedaling, 71.6 miles. The new one has DUAL batteries.
I saw that!! So sick!!
Question?? What is the weight limit for a person who is on the larger size? Thank you!
350lbs max rider weight!
Thank you, Much Obliged!
I love how there's a little sticker on it that says "Class 2 750W 20MPH" lol
It is shipped set at class 2 setting until you modify the controller settings, for legal purposes.
@@leetjohnson I have heard people say if you switch the bike over to class 3 that it voids your warranty, is this true?
@TunaSoda I doubt it. I don't know how Wired would know, it could easily be changed back.
