    As long as you have the baddest bike out there you get an automatic thumbs up.

    Another approach if you have a new bike is to apply some non chlorinated ( the chlorinated shit is deadly) brakleen to a paper towel and wipe off the rotors every other ride. The stock pads seem to be incapable of operating without noise if they have any dirt on them. So with frequent cleaning they will never squeak but if you let much imbed on the pad the only way to remove it is as shown in the video.

    You should use some 500 grit sand paper after using the 220 grit then spray the rotor with some brake cleaner to remove any small debris you may have missed.

      Definitely a good idea!

      I heard 99% isoprophyl (important, not 70% or "rubbing") alcohol is good for this.

    Personally, I just use a bit of bearing grease on the rotors. Park Tool HPG-1 usually does the trick.

    Nice vid . Only thing I would have done first was try rubbing alcohol on rotors.

      I did that, but edited it out as it didn't work.

    Hi,
    When you get a chance people are complaining about the 2024 wired freedom rear suspension slop loose.
    If you stand your bike up straight and wiggle the back rack do you see any slop or wiggle on the back black 4 bracket attached to the shock? I have some wiggle and wanted to know if you have this as well.
    Thanks I like your brake video

      Thanks just shake your back rack while the bike is standing up, let us know if the rear suspension sways
      Thank you

      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci

      @michaelpuccio6201 ok, so I just checked it. I didn't see any sway or slop in the rear shock or the brackets, but I did notice the whole rear forks and rack wiggled separately from the middle of the bike/seat, etc. Similar to how the front forks wiggle and flex when you hold the bike by the front tire and wiggle it back and forth. Not sure if that's what you were asking, or if you meant the brackets only? I didn't see any slop or flexing of the rear shock and the brackets, it was all tight.

      Hi,
      I sent a video to your email. I was trying to attach the video to the comments but it wouldn’t allow me.

      @michaelpuccio6201 I saw the video! Was wondering If any of the bolts could tighten down? Also, it looks like you have a kids seat on there, but I can't tell? Did it make that noise before you added the kids seat??

    so on my 2024 wired freedom it looks like the cnc'd rotors were not DE beveled and thus making the pads have less of a smooth appearance.

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci

      Yeah, they definitely aren't perfect. I noticed they seem MUCH smoother after this process.

  • @OU812NVME
    @OU812NVME Před 4 měsíci +1

    Great advise and vidro but if you just wipe your rotors with alcohol and dry cloth before use you will eliminate this step

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci

      I actually tried that first, but it didn't work. Oftentimes, the oil or contaminant gets onto the pads, and this is the only remedy beyond replacing the rotor/pads.

  • @theshadow8008
    @theshadow8008 Před 4 měsíci +1

    Remove the rotor wash it with diswashing soap done!

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci

      That works too!

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci

      Just remember, if the pad is contaminated, it will still squeak.

  • @Busdathead
    @Busdathead Před 4 měsíci +2

    Really , that's a lot of steps instead of just changing out the brake pads because I found that 99% of the time it's just the pads and their not that expensive at aprox. $10 or less on Amazon .

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci +2

      If you don't get the contaminated rotors clean, you risk getting the new pads contaminated. Cheap pads can squeal, too, without anything on them. To each their own, do what works for you!

    • @jfly2249
      @jfly2249 Před 4 měsíci +1

      I normally just use brake cleaner on rotors and sand a bit to scuff them up but with the rear wheel on. The Tektro ceramic pads are $20 for a pair but last a long time. You should try a 203 rotor in front.

    • @leetjohnson
      @leetjohnson  Před 4 měsíci +1

      @jfly2249 I tried that technique first, but it still squeaked.

      @@leetjohnson it was my mistake, taking it to a shop tmrw - i was trying to put the lil spring thingy with the pads on it into the brake, and it was pretty tight, so I thought there was still resistance from the brake, pressed down on it and the piston nearly fell out + the fluid fell out: completely my fault haha (ik I could get a bleed kit to fix it but ion feel like doing all that)

  • @svenweigand5178

    I think you better buy better brakes than Tektro. 🙂 And a torque wrench.
